Watching runway models doing their usual turns and poses in brand is the comedic relief I needed today. 😂 And these dresses looking so short because the models are so tall - maybe shows like this can nudge brands into making longer versions for the western market? Fingers crossed.
✨🎀It's amazing to see Lolita fashion make its way into mainstream shows! 🥺💖 My frill-filled, fashion-loving heart is excited to see more kawaii lace on the catwalk! 🎀✨
It's funny when you see the models who are used to modeling narrow skirts, so they hold their hands rigid at their hips and it cuts into the petticoat.
It's pretty nice to see a runway featuring a large number of tall models, you can really see the difference in lengths/proportion due to their height. I remember back in 2012 when I used to get harsh criticism for showing even an inch of thigh between the hem of my dress and the tops of my socks, now it's even brand-approved. Times have changed! :)
Overall I am glad they are bringing Lolita fashion in the west for Fashion that's one big step. Not be rude but in BTSSB I get they want to their models to ware the brand socks but half time it looks like they are warning the same sock in almost every fashion show. I hope they bring more variety in their socks. See in 1:02. Also some of dresses look cute but i felt like some of the petite coats seem to blowned. Yes I do wear Lolita fashion and am aware perticoats are huge MUST. But some petticoat for dress looked a bit too umbrella like at. 11:50 yeah I get they dress in a hurry and yeah wear model are tall ok not big deal. But it would more considerable if ware petticoat that don't look like the dress is about to fly itself out. Maybe something 2-3 inches down. And get that BTSSB I get they want to break some traditional I felt somethings work some didn't but that's just my opinion is so no hate here Bless this brand for coming to NYC. ❤😊🙏🏻
@@reginawarburton3255 incorrect!! Tall women are just as cute. Proof: I'm tall and also cute as a button. Not everybody in the fashion is 5'1 and a B cup. The models weren't given any direction on how to walk/pose, which threw off the atmosphere. Just a crumb of instructions would've made this 1000x better. Personally, I think they looked best when walking in pairs.

Look up lolita fashion. It's been around since the late 70s. Fashion from Harajuku. And no, it's not "naughty baby doll". 03:50 is what you would usually see on the streets. It's a casual dress.
Gosh, some of these skirt lengths are waaay too short ... *EDIT: I myself am a tallita. What i meant is that these lengths looks very short 'on them' Partially due to the extreme poof on some of these.
The models are just tall! 5'7(173cm) and up is the height requirement for many NYFS shows. Btssb has a TH-cam and you can see some videos of their Japanese Fashion shows there. The average height of a Japanese woman is 5'2(158cm). The dresses are made with a shorter height in mind is all. They look beautiful either way
@@reginawarburton3255Think about that. They would of had to pay for plane tickets, hotels, translators, etc. It would be very expensive to bring that many Japanese models to the USA

@@peacockcrowe2718 no, i don’t think one of the models being a man has anything to do with it…. i’ve seen guys pull off lolita before. and i’m sure some standard western models could pull off lolita- again, i’ve seen plenty of tall, slim girls pull off the style. it’s just that the models selected for the show seem completely uncomfortable in the style, trying to strut, etc, that makes it look… well…. bad. to put it nicely

Anyway, aside of that, this looks comedic. From music to awkward models’ posing. Anime con level presentation, what a failure. But models being (too) tall is actually good. Maybe it will help designers to understand how people actually look and how weird having one size with stupid short bodice for your brand Most likely won’t, though
No, this is a type of fashion and community in Japan that has become popular worldwide with no relation to the cosplay community. Rather than dressing as a character, we (the EGL community) dress up in elegant and cute styles of dresses and suits (Ouji style vs Lolita). These styles have their origins in Rococo and Victorian clothing, but have branched out further in substyles. Hope this helps. ❤

Its interesting, I think I can tell which models are more familiar with this style of fashion from their walk and posing
I’m in the front row there in the pink capelet..was so magical in person that I cried! Thank u!
Beautiful show!🥰 Love seeing lolita being represented, outside of japan too!
It's pretty common outside of japan as far as alternative fashion goes. There are more enthusiasts overseas than in Japan itself.
Lolita fashion was or is still big in my country under j-fashion enthusiasts.
I liked the model at 9:45. Idk, they seemed comfortable in the petticoat. I wonder if they have experience in the style or with similar styles
Probably part of the community to some extent

こんなに少女的なのに大人の女性の服として成立してるし人種も関係ない。
ベイビーのフリルの中には、何故か人間の愛や夢や、人類の理想の夢が息づいている気がする。

Are these models really tall? Or did BTSSB. Start making their dresses shorter?
they tall
Many New York Fashion Week model castings require women to be at least 5'7
They're tall. I'm 5'9 and most of Btssb dresses fit me like this
i hate that they're so tall, it's not kawaii at all

The models look great but I wish they had made the dresses longer
i thinks the skirt is to short no look good and the sacks i thinks no cover all the legs
It's because the models are tall. On a 5ft 3 person, it hits below the knee

cosplay is dressing up as a character. lolita is a fashion.
