Welcome Silver Foxes! This is Mrs. Lennon with the virtual newsletter for this week. We had another exciting week here at TOMS. 👩🏻‍🏫Teacher of the Year
Each year, our district asks that schools nominate and recognize a building level Teacher of the Year. It is my honor to announce Mrs. Linh Nguyen as our 2021-2022 Ten Oaks Middle School Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Nguyen has been at Ten Oaks Middle School since it opened in 2017. She is hardworking, involved, and goes above and beyond the call of duty. Not only does she provide students with innovative and engaging lessons, she is also an inspiration to our students and staff. Mrs. Nguyen exemplifies our school motto, “Success-Nothing Less!”
🦃Twisted Turkey Contest
This week our TOMS PTO hosted a Twisted Turkey Tournament Fundraiser. Students have been purchasing feathers to put on their favorite teacher’s door. The competition has been fierce. The teachers with the most feathers will be crowned King and Queen of the tournament. I have heard a tutu may be involved for the winning teacher. We appreciate all our TOMS students and families supporting our PTO.
🎅🏼12 Day of Christmas
Our TOMS SCA and Guidance Team are hosting a 12 days of Christmas celebration when we return back from the Thanksgiving Holiday. Please be on the lookout for information regarding the theme of each day. We encourage all our students and staff to participate in this fun-filled activity.
🥫Canned Food Drive
Our canned food drive ended this week and I am proud to announce that our stage was full of items that we were able to donate. Thank you so much for supporting our Student Council Association with this wonderful service project. Winners will be announced on Facebook on Friday.
🎄Angel Tree
We now have an Angel Tree up the front office. All donations will need to be collected by December 10th.
🏫College and Career Readiness Week
We appreciate all our students and staff members who participated in college and career readiness week. We loved encouraging our students to think about their future educational and career goals. Please enjoy a few pictures from the week!
📝MAP Testing
On Tuesday, November 30th students begin taking their iReady Math Diagnostic and Wednesday, December 1st students will be taking their Reading MAP test. Any 8th grade K-12 HCS Virtual student who wants to apply to program High Schools next year needs to test in person. Please contact Mr. Billy Gainus at [e-mail]. These tests are important for student’s future success and we encourage everyone to take them seriously.
🙏🏾TOMS Tip of the Week: Focus on Gratitude
It's now time for our TOMS Tip of the Week. This week's tip is Goal Setting. Focus on Gratitude. As we move into the Thanksgiving Holiday break please remember to take a moment to focus on all the things that you are grateful for. For many members of our TOM'S family the past two years have been extremely difficult and stressful. Personally, I am so grateful that I am able to work in such a magnificent building and environment each day. I love that I have the opportunity to support students, staff members, and parents through my job. I encourage students to be mindful that they are also blessed to come to school in such a beautiful building and it is important to take care of our learning environment. I hope that students and parents will take time next week to make a list of all their blessings and focus on gratitude.
