    My question is: Why is Gabbie the one publicly answering for the Eric’s blackface? I’m glad Chicks in the Office made that point but I’d like to hear and see Eric talk about it.

      She's answering because she's engaged to him and she was there. Hope this helps.

      Contestants are under contract and are controlled as to which if any podcasts they can go on (as are the bachelor and bachelorette). But the leads do end up having to go on lots therefore they get asked the questions. Also contestants are under contract as to what they can comment on and when.

    Why TF is Gabby made to have to now speak on behalf of Eric about HIS Blackface decision???? Whew! The resentment I’d feel to b out in that position while he gets to hide away and refrain from speaking abt it in interviews! She has spoken abt this like 3 times already from what I’ve seen while Eric? Zero. He should’ve attempted to address it at the reunion, spoke abt its inherent ignorance and racism and made it into a teachable moment on Blackface to help quell the BS Gabby would have to face. It’s looking cowardly now and I feel bad for Gabby having to answer to his mistakes/racist actions..

      @@LightsOfLisbon ...for him to address it on television and discuss his decision to do it and what he’s learned about it since. You can’t b this deliberately obtuse to not know what people wanted. His woman is now having to clean his mess up. Bad look.

    LOVE Gabby & Eric.
    Don’t understand the other commenters. Gabby specifically said she does not have to answer for Eric and he needed to take accountability which he has started doing and said he will continue to do the work.

    Sick and tired of these GROWN people being racist. It always seems like there's some racist history that comes to light about these Bachelor/Bachelorette stars; the same thing happened with Matt and the Rachael from his season and that plantation photo. At Erich's big age he should have known better.

      We live in a country where it was “culturally appropriate” (not actually appropriate) to do racist things in the not so distant past. People didn’t even know they were racist. People who are thoughtful and aware have learned as the culture has changed and education is more widespread. They’ve been able to learn these things are racist and not to do or say them. I think it comes out in Bachelor Nation because this kind of community is like hiring private detectives. I mean I think this wasn’t even online. I don’t see this for other shows I follow. I bet it’s more common that you’d think. Because as a community many of us didn’t know better. I would say it will be better for our kids, but there may be new things that aren’t appropriate that we were blind and didn’t see. There is a LOT of things that sadly didn’t occur to me, as a white person, but make complete sense once explained.
      I was abused and humiliated by a narcissistic mother, as the scapegoat. She called me “it” and denigrated me in many ways. My trauma is different, but as a result, I have always stood up for people I saw being bullied for any reason. I’m very sensitive to it. When people said, “that’s so gay” I lectured them, even when it was cool and popular and rampant. Same with the r-word. (I am a child of the 90s). And I have always been on the lookout. I grew up in a diverse area and thought racism was back in the south, not here. 🙄 I truly had no idea what to look for and what blackface was. The first time I heard it was in 2013 when Julianne Hough got in trouble for it.
      We just aren’t far enough removed.

      Well, being racist to many people, especially those that have to bare the brunt of these racist moments in real time, is not always deemed “human” nor “ridiculous.” I’m sure you’re not Black to be this nonchalant abt the historical implications and continued mockery that these moments carry. What’s funny is when Jewish people get mad at anti Semitic examples and people mass condemn the offender, people like urself somehow magically understand it lmao.

    Blackface more of a commentary on the society back then. I'm sure many people would have and have done it too. It's like dressing up as Pocahontas

    • @dedgunk
      @dedgunk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Blackface wasn't a 'commentary' it was used to dehumanize African American people, as redface does to Native Americans. Dressing up as Native Americans is just appropriation and that in itself is problematic. Why are you defending this?
