    Thank you so much for your video. My mother is afraid she'll get lost in the airport and I'll use this video as an instruction for her 😊

      Hope it helps. There are several videos of the airport so she should have a good orientation.

    Wow, those were there when I was in the Army back in 81! They make a satisfying mechanical click when the numbers change, and you know how the Germans love mechanical things! Also in this digital age the cool old analog stuff still impresses....like the urge to buy music on vinyl Thanks for doing these, I miss Frankfurt...I used to live out at McNair kaserne in Hochst.

      i really hope, those "Fallblattanzeigen" as we call them, will stay for a long time to come. They are so Vintage and Classic by now, that its worth to protect them as an cultural asset.

      Meanwhile Singapore's Changi Airport had similar departure boards made by Solari in Terminals 1 & 2 but they were removed during renovation in 2012 & 2020 respectively, supposedly as they were too difficult/expensive to maintain due to obsolesce, despite the latter one being newer (completed in 1990)

    Are there elevators as well to go to the train station?

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are elevators, but they are a bit out of the way and are not very useful in my opinion. They need to be larger and more of them.

      I will be travelling with 3 huge suitcases, I don't think taking an escalator with 3 heavy bags will be wise for me. I'll most likely take an elevator

    Thanks for this video it will be helpful for us in about 3 weeks. One question we are taking a train from Dortmund to Frankfurt to then fly to Milan. I assume we would want the train that takes us to Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbf and then we can just follow your video to Lufthansa check-in (we will have bags unfortunately). We are booking the train and plane separately as its a lot cheaper. And would arrival 2 hours before takeoff be enough time - this is on a Monday evening flight leaves at 8:30pm. Thanks.

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lufthansa has check-in right next to the long distance train station. You need to check your train ticket to see if it says Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof or Frankfurt Flughafen.
      Why don't you just fly from Dortmund to Milan?

    • @GCS2000
      @GCS2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frankfurtonfoottours2361there are no flights out of Dortmund itself. Have to go from Düsseldorf which is a 40 min train ride or train to somewhere like Frankfurt and then fly from there. We haven’t bought the tickets yet which is why I was asking about which endpoint in Frankfurt to pick. Appreciate the reply. Thanks

    6:12 Whoa meanwhile in my country taxis aren't legally required to have child seats as its deemed too troublesome for the drivers, but private-hire drivers may be required to have them

    • @frankfurtonfoottours2361
      @frankfurtonfoottours2361  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a shame about the child seats. How unsafe for all those children

    • @lzh4950
      @lzh4950 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frankfurtonfoottours2361 I recall that my country did some cost benefit analysis & determined that each taxi driver isn't going to have a very high % of passengers that need child seats, so allocating space for them on taxis isn't economically justifiable. I think some private-hire drivers might thus feel that our laws are biased in favour of conventional taxis & against them

    Zu erwähnen wäre, dass die Lufthansacheckins im Bahnhofsbereich vor Corona auch Gepäck von vielen Airlines angenommen hat, aber ansonsten vermisse ich das Fliegen auch, wird aber wohl noch eine Weile dauern.
