@@amesstarline5482 I do think how different the legs looks from the rest of the body is wierd. But I guess it could be one the more joke styled Pokemons.
I haven’t seen anyone else point it out, but zhenaxus isn’t actually a velociraptor (though closely related). It’s probably partially based on Zhenyuanlong, a Dromaeosaurid dinosaur that provided “the first direct evidence for well-developed pennaceous feathers in a non-flying Dromaeosaur” (information via Wikipedia)
Yup! That was the inspiration alongside the Sinoprnithosaurus, also found in China. The Poison type comes from it allegedly having a venomous bite, and the Zhen, a mythical Chinese poisonous bird
Looking it up I found out that zhenyuanlong is actually named after a representative of the museum (not the zhen) who made arrangements to have the fossil studied there. Having the zhen connection was quite the stroke of genius!
That was the reason for it yeah! This line represents actual Persian cata and also the van cat, and I thought that being an Electric type lend itself well with the eye colors
9:50 Furfrou looks like a cross of a Saluki and an Afghan Hound. Both are long legged sighthounds from the Middle East and Central Asia regions. Both dog breeds have long hair on the ears that matches great with Furfrou

My imput on some of these designs, and some additions/corrections on certain things: 2:34 Looks like cotton-candy (or fairy-floss) to me. 2:39 It also resembles coccoons, where the bug wraps themselves in silk. 5:54 And also, Lab-rats. 7:36 Chow-chows in real life actually have blue tongues. 8:59 Eyebrows. 13:15 Almost looks like the Gingerbread House, from Hansel & Gretel. Instead, he holds a long funnel-bag of winds.
Apofakemon here, it is mainly based on an species called the mirror moth, and the line represents mirrors in some way (Buglam antennae, Puprime is shaped like a hand mirror, Mirroth’s wings) but instead of going for the material aspect, I went for the beauty and vanity aspects, being also influenced by magic mirrors from Fairy tales, thus the Fairy type. It might not translate súper well maybe
The Hungroul is based on the Chinese hungry ghost festival, where deceased spirits who descended to H£ll are given a chance to visit their families in the mortal plain or to just eat after a near eternity of famine
I'm pretty sure Mirroth line is based on the silk worm life cycle like the silk road and I'm pretty sure it's fairy because luxury items like silk and other fineries tend to be fairy

Psychic heavy but I really liked several of the designs. I do agree that Jerboa's legs could have been a little smaller. I know they're leg focused but you can go a little too wild. Love the Baba Yaga pokemon though..very fun.
I dunno why Simasu is named that way, but it's actually a Chimera. Lore kinda points all over the place for it, but it definitely involves a lion and an eagle. Dunno why there's no snake; the artist could have incorporated it as a tail with a cobra-like hood. The Simurg is actually the Babylonian dragon, with wings and forelegs of an eagle, head and scales of a snake, hindquarters of a lion, and a forehead horn like a unicorn. So I definitely don't see that here.
The simurgh is both represented as a winged dog-like creature and as a giant bird, basically a griffin-like creature too, so I wanted to mix both representations. The two-head concept tied in with it representing balance

Looks like their is some alternate fuel sources with a couple of them. Like Plant based oil and electric cars.

Pretty sure Homini evolutions are based on Undine, Salamander, Sylph and Gnome. Elemental spirits strongly associated with alchemy.
They are! While Homini is a homunculus, the evolutions are based on the Classic Elementals :)
That AND a homunculus is typically made using alchemy! Clever line!
