- Turns out I love Sakamoto Maaya. One of the most consistent performing anisong artists, as she's been performing anisongs since 1996. She has an elegant and ethereal feel to her music, and it's fun to note that she rarely performs cast songs, surprisingly. Out of 66 of her anisongs she's performed, I like 50 of them. Unfortunately, she can be capable of being ehh, but her recent hits prove to be good as usual for her.

I've rarely caught up with anime so this is really a great compilations!
I thought I had already listened to all of her songs for the past decades but I was completely wrong, I still found 5-6 treasures from here that I haven't heard of yet. Thanks!

Arjuna and RahXephon are both so damn underrated: both have incredible visuals, characters and music. That being said, it's somewhat understandable why they're not so well known: Arjuna is about environmental issues, which not all people care about; Rah is mostly dismissed as an Eva copy.
My favourite MS song has got to be Tune the Rainbow, for the RahXephon movie of 2003.
There's also an ED song she did for CLAMP School Detectives, as well as "Ready? Action!" for CLAMP In Wonderland 2.
My number one is num 19.. hikari no naka e, have been like that for 24 years. And reigning over all genre of musician and ost.

while I do have some gripes about the list, not bad.
Reminded me of some old songs I have not heard in ages, became a fan of hers back during Escaflowne, 20 someodd years ago.
From the list I would definitely put Tune the Rainbow on top, but my favorite, yet not her best, but still my favorite Sakamoto Maaya song, the hidden track from the Escaflowne movie soundtrack.
The one that pops up if you leave the album playing for like 20 minutes after the last song on the CD😅. It was sung with her voice, no editing and clearing her voice up.

#33 deserves to rank higher. I mean, it's one of the most known anime song during 90s era, and also one of her signature songs during that time
And the craziest part is despite all of this musical excellence, she didn't perform "No Promises to Keep". I actually didn't know she made this many anisongs! I'm very familiar with her work with Yoko Kanno but had no idea she did THIS many songs.

There is a song name "Stranger in Paradise" and im pretty sure exist a song from an anime or OVA with the same melody, and not so sure that the singer is Maaya. Could somebody give me a hand remembering which song is it?
