Well after 7 months and your help and some hard to source parts, I am now the proud owner AGAIN (long story) of my fully refurbished Denon Dn-2000F MKIII from 1998.
would love to see a full video of changing the belt for the cd drawer. have started disassembling my dn1800f, but quickly gets complicated without good instructions.
I have a 2000MK3 and a 2100F that both need belt kits. I haven't been able to find a good place in the US to get the belts, nor find instructional videos.
Thanks for a pro video. A lot of those still in service. I've lost count of how many came here with bad discs so I always ask first if another disc was tried..any that make their way here I always clean and lube that toggle switch tho. The other thing is that white ribbon cable. In a couple cases I had to clean the contacts with a Q tip, contact spray, and a little WD40.. I got few with damaged contacts that looked like they were forced out of the connector without unlocking it..was able to trim the cable back and make new contacts and they have not come back..
thank you- thought I had a bad laser. here's a good tip, folks- get your working area as quiet as possible, so you can hear (what I couldn't hear) the motor on one side labouring to close the door, which looked shut to me. the switch was fine, but the drawer latch wasn't coming over far enough. when the other side started doing it too, I woke up.... changed both of the tiny belts (inside the front of the drawer) & away it went.
Hi friend, I just came across your VDO. I have a question. I have a Denon 2000f mk2 and a Denon 2500F but the 2500F My CD tray wouldn't play, so I took the CD tray from my 2000f mk2. Put it in the 2500F machine instead. It appears that the power goes into the CD and reads the disc, but no sound comes out. I would like to know what is causing the sound to not be output. Or is it because of the Main PCB? It's a different model, but I saw the Main PCB for the 2000F model on Ebay. I can buy it to fit it. 2000F mk2? Now I want to revive an old CD player that I used to play with a long time ago. Please help with any suggestions. Thank you in advance.
This is a very helpful video, thanks! I'm trying to fix my DN-2000F MK3 CDJs, but can't find the service manual for it. I wish I knew how you got the door off of the CD tray, or else if you know where I can find the service manual.
Hi there, The door unclips from underneath. There are two little clips about one quarter in on each side on the bottom. Just slide the front upwards from either side and it should pop off. Hope this helps
I have the dn-2000f since 1990' when it came out. Bought it new then. Do you have the part number for that belt? Just open it and notice the belt is totally gone. I am holding on opening the other one until I get the belts for both doors.
Hi, very nice video, thanks! could you make a video to explain (or just explain with text) how to adjust the tray, I can not settle mine and I can't find the service manual (Denon DN-2000F MK3). Thank you in advance :-)
Hey Matt. I have the MKIII and the cd drawers open and close but the disc does not spin . It does seem to lock in place but nothing. Is that the belt do you think?
I have the same problem. You say that the problem was a loose pulley, but you are pointing to a belt. Are there supposed to be two belts in there? Or did you just change the old belt to a new and tighter one?
@@wellhiddenmatt Thank you for answering! I'll try new belts asap :-) They worked fine the last time I used them (10 years ago). New belt and some grease on the sliding parts coming up :-)
I couldn't fins new ones. I bought regular rubber bands but they where to big. So I found some small rubber hairbands for little girls, and two of those together worked well.

@@wellhiddenmatt Thanks, yes belts do age and become sticky or lose their elasticity. My issue is electronic on the drive #2 RCA output ( right channel only ). I can hear the music but with crackly static. I did some re-soldering which worked short term. It returned once I screwed the cover back on and attached the cord to my mixer. Next is breaking out the VOM and start schematic path. I will inform if I find the culprit component. JwgK
Wow! I really like how you solve problem after problem so easily. One of my CD drives goes straight back in when it reaches the end position. Do you have any tips on how to fix this?
I’m not sure about that, but I’ll finally be doing a part 2 video this weekend. I’m only a few years late. I’ll see if I can replicate your problem. Off the top of my head it could be the same problem. If the belt is loose it might not have enough power in it to push the tray all the way out so it automatically closes again.
The mk2 control unit is different. It uses a lcd screen instead of vfd. Also the MK2 doesn’t have jog wheels. Just buttons. So technically the mk3 is better. But only slightly.
@@wellhiddenmatt Thanks! (I figured that about WD40) That's why I thought I'd ask what you liked. I figured others might like to know too. Which model of MolyKote do you find works best for the CD players? Spray or tube grease?
@@griggsnichols9988 tube grease it’s much easier to apply. You can scoop it from the tube with a cocktail stick or small screwdriver and apply it just to the parts you need it.

Does the switch register the closed door? Otherwise it will still think it’s empty amad not spin up.

Hi, sorry. Yes I said pulley I meant belt. I just put new belts in. Nothing too tight though. Just a little smaller than the old stretched one.

Hi there. I should do a part 2. I have had no sound problems with my units. It was only belt problems. With the tray mechanisms.

Hello again! Now I have bought another Denon 2000F. One sled moves slowly and gets stuck before it reaches the end position. Any tips?
Does anyone know the difference between the 2000nf, MK2, and MK3? Which one is better?
The mk2 control unit is different. It uses a lcd screen instead of vfd. Also the MK2 doesn’t have jog wheels. Just buttons. So technically the mk3 is better. But only slightly.
What kind of grease do you use on these?
The best is Molykote, or a white lithium grease. Do NOT use something like WD40 as that will start to destroy the plastic.
