This video came out at the PERFECT time! I'm reliving my Parappa the rapper phase and I've been scouring the internet for anything Parappa related. Somehow I always manage to find new Parappa content every time I relive this phase like- I didn't even know the Pj Berri show was a thing until 2 weeks ago
I feel like you could trick me into thinking *Mogumogu Munyamunya* was a fan-project. Like, they finally made a new PaRappa thing? A thing with a chill and cozy vibe at that... _And_ they made sure to invite the cast from all three games AND the old anime? Yeah, sounds too satisfying to be real. Anyways, I finally know what that one person in a comment section was on about when they claimed that Background Character Sprite #4 in Level 2 of _Um-Jammer Lammy_ was actually canonically PaRappa's mother
One of my comfort shows I used to watch as a kid! I always found the animation charming, iirc production IG worked on the anime which was kinda crazy! Pretty good vid going over a obscure part of gaming history. I also recommend checking out the animal crossing anime!
@@Sondi Yeah, it was an anime movie, focusing on the female villager, Ai. The male Villager is named Yu, but he's a fairly minor character. It's mostly just about Ai moving into Animal Village, working for Tom Nook, and getting to know and befriend the villagers. There is more to it, though, but no major adventure or conflict.
I'm mixed on some of the anime episodes. Some of them have good hooks while some aren't that interesting~ Still they are all worth a watch since they were almost lost media at one point~
It might interest you to know that because of the issues regarding the show, as well as his inability to create anything as successful as PaRappa (the sequel and Um Jammer Lammy didn't do as well as the first game), Greenblat effectively dropped out of the video game industry. He and Matsuura tried to make a comeback with Major Minor's Majestic March (a Wii game where you lead a marching band with a mace (that baton thing those guys leading a drum march hold)), but it wasn't very well received. But for the most part, he's just stuck to his iconic art. Last time he got anywhere remotely involved in games since MMMM was when he expressed disapproval for PaRappa's addition to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, the Smash-like for Sony's PlayStation.
I remember watching Parappa anime during quarantine every single time at night or day and it was definitely worth watching that I wish the PJ anime had a sub. I'm definitely going to rewatch the anime for good memories
I hope the franchise comes back because a lot of forgotten games are coming back, OG Paper Mario, Epic Mickey and Mario and Luigi. I hope Parappa the rapper comes back too.
I believe the reason why they were never dubbed was because they weren't all that popular in Japan anyway. So it wouldn't be worth the effort the localize them for America. It also wouldn't have done well anyway, due to it focusing on young kids while the main fanbase for PaRappa are older kids and young teens.
Parappa's anime is so fun. It reminds me a lot of nermia daikon bros, another musical themed anime from the time
interesting it looks like a parody of the blue brothers
Oh wow haven't thought about Nerima Daikon Brothers in a long time! It was a silly trip of a show

no one would blame you for not knowing the pj show was a thing. you wouldn't know it existed unless you did a little digging.
better be jamming out to the anime's opening band.
before Jax from TADC, we had Gaster

@@Sondi yeah! It's based off the GameCube version all of it is on TH-cam funnily enough

All I know is this anime has banger OP and ED's, I still listen to them regularly and even included them in my mashup albums.

sony did the parappa franchise so dirty :(
Imagine the Weinstein company pick up the dub for parappa anime
@@Jace-qp8ej we could only dream for that to happen 😔🙏
Sony did Japan Studio dirty

08:35 I expect only this sort of animation from Smiling Friends! (Especially the little blue guy).
Weird how there was never a dub
It would be interesting to hear. I noticed they were able to get Ryu Watabe to voice Master Onion again.
