My summer waves filter stopped working and I have a sand filter ready BUT need to confirm this process is fine when the summer waves hanging pump doesn't work at all. Thanks
@@frankdelorbe9457 Yes!thank you! I found lots of tutorials on how to set it up but decipher if the summer waves had any function in the process. Setting up now, excited! Thanks!
@@1USAUSA the part you are referring to is the skimmer flapper or skimmer door. It's purpose is to let debris into the skimmer with the flow of water and not let the debris exit the skimmer back into the pool. The flapper has buoyancy which causes the water flow area to be restricted to pass over the flap which causes the water to flow at much higher velocity over the flapper which makes any debris easily pass over the flapper into the skimmer but impossible to exit the skimmer due to inability to overcome the velocity of the incoming water. Think of a rapid in a creek or stream...generally the same concept. By not having the flapper door on your skimmer you are pretty much making the skimmer useless as the debri would be able to flow in and out of the skimmer without ever being pulled down into the filtration system. To be more literal, without the flapper the skimmer would not skim the water. Hope that helps.
@@jimeagle1155 Thank you for your explanation. Well, I removed the flapper on my skimmer thinking that over 90% of the floating debris will not get skimmed with the flapper on. I have been running my skimmer this way ever since I bought it. It's been working for me. I just have to make sure that there are no debris in the pool that can get caught in the pump, my sand filter pump has no air in its hose and sucking enough water. Within about an hour, it removes all the floating debris.
Little late to the video but hoping to do this soon. I have a summer waves 15 foot active frame pool. Are the plunger valves needed? Or can you just connect the hoses and adapters without them? Are the plunger valves just so you can turn on and off the water going to the pump and pool for convenience? Thanks!
Hi Jack. You can connect directly without the plunger valves but I think its much better to use the valves. If you need to clean out the pump or do anything to it, you will need to close the valves.
What adapter did you use from the coupling on the summer wave to the Intex plunge valve. You said you put the link but there’s only a link fir coupling and hoses with brackets. No adapter link.

I used a sharp knife
I gotta question. Do you really need that little skimmer FLAP bobbing back and forth at the opening?
Yes, to stop the debris that go to the skimmer to go back to the pool.
100% yes
