with aggressive shoes on slab, ive felt a bit of a difference. scarpa instincts also have a little claw at the tip of the shoe, and it feels like im stepping on a ball or something. so when toeing in on small foot chips it causes my heel to drop further than if i was wearing a flat, well supporting shoe. plus, the claw wears out really fast if you wear it on slab and becomes flat. personally i dont like aggressive shoes on slab, and just need a supportive shoe that does not allow for my toes to bend upwards, into extension.
Have you tried LV version yet??? Of Phantom? You are the only reason why I am gonna get Phantom soon.. possibly, after I try it, because I keep seeing your videos
@@suckatslab Did you do your resoles with yosemite bum? I heard they are the official evolv resolers so i would imagine they'd know how to get the shoes back to good condition.
@@jaybuensuceso1461 Good info! I know they have a cutoff regarding the shoes' condition for when they are able to resole. I have a tight budget and often try to wait until the last minute to resole or get new shoes... I know in the long run it would be more cost efficient to just get it done, but like I said it is more difficult in reality with my current budget. It took my wife seeing the holes on my old shoes and getting me new ones for me to receive some good rubber haha.
Phantoms are the only shoes that fit me! Great review :) I've noticed Daniel Woods teasing the Phantom Pro--really hoping they keep the same profile! On another note, I was wondering which part of the shoe is causing pain points for you during the break in process? Regardless of the shoe brand my toe knuckle gets a dent over the top due to the stitching inside.
i don't wear phantoms but i have calluses on the up side of my big toes as well, pretty sure more people do regardless of stitching, tight fitting shoes will make your toes bunch up so it makes sense that there would be some friction at the knuckle
@@Secarlen I don't think so. I have a shallow heel but duck feet (wide in the front, egyptian shape, bunnioned) and I've tried the Phantom and Phantom LV and none of them fit me, especially the heel. My quiver is the Unparallel Souped UP, feel like a second skin, best fitting shoes I've tried from my 80+ models tested, then the Mad Rock Drone 2.0 LV (which are in the same category as what the Phantom provides) that fit 98% my feet (I took street shoe sizing because it's already a heckin pain to break them in) and then the La Sportiva Solution (since I'm ligthweight, I went with the woman version for better softness) that I've taken for sport climbing at -1.5 from street (could have gone -2 like the others La Sportiva I have but not worth the pain imo). I can suggest you to try the Drone 2.0 LV and La Sportiva Solution if you want stiff shoes ! Otherwise, for mega soft shoes (Drago tier), try the Unparallel Souped UP :)

4:08 that's at least 20 cents of rubber you left on the wall 🤣
@@HighGravityDay no kidding🥲
@@suckatslab my friend group literally uses "20 cents" as an in-joke/euphemism for bad/sketchy foot work 🤭
haha i've always had that in-joke with myself so to speak (i do have friends!!), it's cool to know others do too
@@alliecat1008 ill have to use that🤣
HAHAHAH I’m gonna have to use this 🤣

If you look good you feel good :D a new pair of shoes adds a couple of % each time. placebo or not it feels like it:D

@@niniyaya7392 my wife uses the lv. She has used both. I'll see if she can give you a longer review. Hold tight!
is there a reason why you dont get them resoled instead
@@abekatism I've done that before and have had poor experiences unfortunately. I also often use them beyond the resole viability.

Yeeees the toe knuckle lol. The pinky toe and the top of my achilles are the other two spots.
