    Its seems to be perfectly acceptable to chase otherwise law abiding citizens on legally owned fully insured and well maintained bikes at this speed and ban and imprison riders. But not it seems acceptable to chase and capture unlicensed, uninsured bike thieves on mopeds who are fully prepared to attack members of the public with weapons and ride in our cities with absolute impunity. Lets see the Met Police make such a big deal about their next arrest of those bastards...

    • @robssteven
      @robssteven 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree with most of your sentiment, however its not a case of the Police not wanting to do anything. Believe me what annoys the public annoys police officers. Its a case of resources. This is a factor in the amount of police officers in total, the amount then trained to a level they can knock people off mopeds, and then its a case of having enough vehicles and time to follow up on this rather than deal with other types of crime.

There were 2 bike cops that often used to be there, they both thought they were rossi but the reality was that two big headed pricks with new R1s were getting humiliated by guys on 10 year old cbr600s.

    • @fredf3636
      @fredf3636 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they aren't trained to go high speeds then why were they doing it? Maybe that's why they get pulled over. Yes the officer was at fault for the blind spot and closeness, but it's hard to be concerned about what might have happened in a high speed chase if they don't know what they're doing. If they weren't comfortable doing 150mph in a chase they wouldn't do it just mucking around

      Harry, you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about! Police riders go through a 5 week training course, hundreds of hours learning how to ride safely at speed. That’s on top of the fact that they also MUST be well experienced, fully trained TPAC police car drivers, which is a 5 week course, on top of another 3weeks advanced reps;once, which is on top of a 3 week standard response course. In fact they will have, in their Police career, have had thousands of hours driving a police vehicle at speed. You, on the other hand have absolutely none of this training and think it’s ok to speed on a public road, putting yourself and others in danger?! However, I can assure you that the Police take uninsured, unlicensed, motorcycle thieves VERY seriously, there’s just too many of them and not enough cops too deal with them. You need too understand that there’s a MASSIVE difference between riding at speed to catch up and stop a motorist, than a pursuit. A pursuit is 100 times more dangerous that what you’ve seen on this video.

You assume they have none, but you do not know, having ridden with ex police bikers I’ve seen both sides. I’ve never condone this behaviour so don’t put words in my mouth. My point is you have a human in uniform and a human member of the public, both human, with human reactions, you can not assume one is better than the other or one had more training than the other because you just do not know

      He’s highly trained to ride at that speed. Members of the public aren’t mate. If you do track days yes you gain some experience but not in respect of hazards, such as the movement of other road users and junctions for example, which police officers receive. I understand to the untrained eye it doesn’t look good but I think you have to look at the comment you have made and reconsider your reasoning. Stay safe mate 👍

      they would never ever win any kind of race would they.
      i'm trying to say they are safe not fast.
      The example here of the police motorcyclist lacking maturity Bad positioning bad timing unnecessarily overhasty none of it was needed to get to the front and perform his stop routine.
      if I wanted a group of motorcyclist to do synchronised riding around the car park I would definitely choose police motorcyclist but not this one. as for fast and safe I would never choose a police motorcyclist but I would choose any of my friends.

      @@King-Arthur-The-First evening and thanks for your reply. You raise some valid points so I shall try and answer. Firstly yes I do ride and have done so in all weathers. I understand what you say with regard to him hustling to the front. Whilst I cannot answer for his or her actions as I don’t know the officer, you have to appreciate that the officer is on an unmarked bike, so perhaps that’s why they wanted to get to the front. His riding to do so is not dangerous, but people may consider it was because it was an officer. If it had ‘just’ been Joe public, I doubt any eye brows would have even been raised. With regard to the best things on two wheels I would always say someone else is better but as a general rule of thumb, to ride at speed in urban areas and de restricted etc at speeds above 70mph no one is better because you the public I mean haven’t had a 6 week course 7 hours a day 5 days a week and at speeds above 70 mph assessing all hazards which advanced police motorcyclists have. As for a race, really? I think this discussion worthy of better content. I am pleased to hear your friends are all so good at riding. If you really are committed to riding quickly and safely go on a Bikesafe course it may just save your life. And just for the record I’m a retired police motorcyclist and instructor for cars. I was a Family Liaison Officer and knocked on far too many doors to deliver the bad news re car and motorcyclist fatalities. Enjoy your bike just be safe as too many clowns will knock you off. 👍

      I would think the majority of people would say police riding here was dangerous as fact not bias.
      Looking at the video I would say without do you care and attention is more appropriate than dangerous.
      I notice you dont say this is not and example of the high standard to which you believe police are trained. so if this is an example that you consider passable then I would say the standards of training need to be raised.
      Why a major hurry to get to the front to perform the stop without patience or skill?
      The officer was riding in an unprofessional manner and from what i can see there is no need for it.
      I totally understand if the police and those people that train the police think they are the best thing since sliced bread, but I'm sorry if I am bursting that bubble but you/they are kidding yourselves.
      Im sure all police motorcyclists would make good motorcycle instructors but that's about it (apart the one in this clip of course because he/she seems impetuous)

      @@King-Arthur-The-First well we will have to agree to disagree about how the officer got to
      The front. But your initial comment was the riding was dangerous, now careless. As for all police riders making good instructors, they don’t. Many riders apply but are unsuccessful. I don’t want to sound sarcastic. You are keen and express your opinions well. However with regard to how police officers ride and bubbles being burst you base that on your abilities of someone only trained to ride on public roads at 70mph. The officers are taught to ride safely at far higher speeds. The main point of our conversation from my point is to try and explain what the officer did and why. Legally to explain that would take much longer. Enjoyed your thoughts and I wish you well mate 👍

      If I recall correctly, police driving with emergency lights on are exempt from some traffic laws (speed limit, requirement to not pass a red light). They are not exempt from the requirement to not drive dangerously. But in practice a court is likely to find "I was taking a necessary risk to reach the scene of a crime" a persuasive argument. Also, it's unlikely to get as far as a court, since the police are usually the ones bringing a case to the CPS, and people have a strong aversion to charging their colleagues.

      Funnily enough... they get taught how to drive, or in this case, ride, at high speed, and have the legal authority to do so, provided they can justify their actions.
      We're becoming a nanny state country, where people rush to the aid and defense of those who are knowingly doing wrong, and instead question the actions of those who are employed to enforce road laws, are trained to a higher standard, and ultimately must justify and account for their own actions.
      It's a bit like comparing your average car driver to a police response driver, half of the people i've seen driving can't even drive at 30 properly without being overly-cautious or going unnecessarily slow, they'd be awful police drivers. Hence the training they are given when they go on their standard/advanced driving course, this is what allows them to do it.

      In theory any bike can be overloaded with crap and blue lights have a sit up and beg pilot and called an unmarked police bike.
      If anyone like your friend or me lol was to out run said machine then the speeds you quote will do the job just fine but must be accompanied by a professional level of late braking (rear goes very light and no front lock up because of your choice of machine rubber and competence & stay of stuff like chevrons covered in gravel etc) staying calm and focused are your best tools. not having your bike registered to chosen home base essential also
      😉👍 🏍💨

    All this video shows is that the bikes were doing about 80 mph when he "caught up" with them - lead guy was "making progress" as bike coppers call it, but was keeping it 80-90 by the look of it. The only one really doing anything reckless here was the police rider, especially at 1:10 where he lost control of his vehicle to the extent that he crossed into the outside lane of passing traffic whilst flapping his left arm around!

    bans these bikers for going 140 mph yet the police officer goes faster, being on a bike is dangerous enough and they all seemed to be trying to mind their own business. put this much effort into motorcycle thives but that isn't profitable. people pay tax towards the government to make the country better i don't see fining riders for speeding and then letting thives do what ever they want
