Audra MacDonald’s amazing as Reverend Mother. I love the spin they did on this song and how this scene tells us about Reverend Mother and Maria’s mother-daughter-type relationship.

This song is special.
Carrie has a natural Broadway voice. Her speaking intonation when she isn’t singing just sounds like she is natural at performing and singing. You can hear how crisp her words come out in her songs and how she can change her dynamic so quickly. I think that’s one quality that Kelly Clarkson doesn’t really have. God blessed this woman with a good Respiratory System
Audra McDonald is one of the best Soprano singers I have ever heard. Let me not forget that I cried when I heard her in Porgy and Bess.
I do think it says a lot about how great a singer Carrie Underwood is that she doesn't get entirely overshadowed by Audra McDonald, who's honestly God's gift to us.
In this performance, I think she does. I'd say Carrie struggled with this musical number, sounds rather pitchy while Audra sounded perfect.
Carrie was good in other musical numbers in this musical though, her acting sadly was always awful though

A lot of people, don't have the money to buy the show. Including me. It doesn't give them a reason to demand a show. But at the same time, its past mid - August and they still haven't given us any updates. So (in a way) people do have a right to ask.
@@euphoria7372 I understand there are people who can't afford big purchases but for example in my country the entire TPOTO with Sarah's performance at the end and everything cost about 5 dollars.. I just think if you really really want something you'll seek opportunities to get it with your own effort. Like earn of save some money)) This way when you finally get it it'll give you such satisfaction that one only feels if they worked hard enough to ahieve their goal. :)
@@naastyaaaaaaaaa I completely get what you're saying. Its just, where I live its costs about R100 to R150. For a lot of people it might not seem like a lot but, for me, its a lot of money. I'm fine with them not posting the show. I know its a lot of work to work out the copyright issues. I was just trying to say _why_ a lot of people are asking for a show, or in other cases, demanding it. I completely agree with you, I'm just saying a lot of people just can't afford something like that.
@@euphoria7372 i just don't understand why some people nowadays demand stuff in such a way. I can't stop imagining myself in the shoes of whoever runs this channel. They do so much for us, but the more treats they give us the less gratitude they get in return. I simply wanted to say that it's just so sad to see these straightforward comments demanding more without even aknowledging what's already been shown.

Well I saw it one time when I was 13. I cared more about the music than the story. It took me seven years to give the movie a second try. Of all motivations, it was to prepare for this telecast. I’ve seen the movie 10 times now. I’m 30 now

I don’t understand why no one liked Carrie as frauline Maria I loved her
I loved her, too, and I saw the movie with Julie Andrews in the theater and loved it. I even have the original soundtrack LP. Julie Andrews herself, though, has always left me a bit cold with her androgynous looks (almost always the very short boyish haircuts, for example)
Yes, Julie had great talent, but I preferred this live version
Carrie is beautiful and feminine and with her coloring, looked like an "Alps" girl. I prefer Ms. Underwood's singing voice also, and remember that she had to do it all live!!!!! This was based not on the movie,, but on the stage version. Also two of the best songs were left out of the movie version! I was 'knocked out" by the spectacular acting and singing of Laura Benanti and Christian Borle. I love those two big numbers that they did!!!! All of the kids were great as well. I do not understand why people did not appreciate Stephen Moyer more. I had never heard of him before, but he is a very handsome guy and I liked his singing. Christopher Plummer, who played Von Trapp in the movie, was by many accounts, a nasty piece of work. He admitted to bring drunk in some of the scenes in the movie, and he was always really arrogant. Over the years, he made a lot of unkind remarks about Julie Andrews and about many things in the movie. I think the nasty father/,architect he played in "Lake House" captured his real, unpleasant personality.
The issue that I had with Carrie was the acting. Her singing was excellent.

Its past mid - August and you guys haven't given us any updates at all. I don't care if you decide not to do full shows anymore, just please, at least just say something.
Throughout the life of this channel, NBCUniversal have not entered into dialogue on these boards, wisely in my view. I believe their stance is that if they choose to post some of their programmes on here, it is at their prerogative. They are not answerable to anyone other than the copyright owners. They have not entered into any form of contract with users of this site,
Let's face it, the content of this site is a miniscule proportion of all the free programmes available on TH-cam. I really do not understand why people are getting so exercised about this.

The thing what upsets me is that, they said mid - August, they got a bunch of peoples hopes up for no reason. Of course They don't owe any of their viewers anything. but still, they could at least address it. Many people (From what I've seen) have very tight schedules, what they opened _just_ to watch, whatever show they put on, just to be disappointed. I'm personally fine with it. Its JUST my opinion. I fully respect yours. I'm grateful for them still putting work in, and still making videos for us. I just want them to address it.
@@euphoria7372 It is worthwhile to remember that the principal reason that this channel was initiated was to encourage people to contribute to charitable funds providing for out of work entertainment professionals, and other worthy causes. In this respect it has not been very successful. In fact the only site such as this, that I have seen, to provide a good level of contributions has been that of The Royal Opera House. In general contributions have averaged out at a few pence/cents per viewer. This aim seems to have escaped most people who come here clamouring for programmes that Universal does not have (or do not even exist). Many of them cannot even summon up the energy to say "please".
From what I have observed, when Universal intend to post a programme, they inform the trade press a few days in advance, and place a notice on this site around 48 hours before launch. The programme is then on here for 24/48 hours. This should be plenty of time to allow people to plan their viewing.
I was not criticising you in particular, rather the general sense of entitlement that some people display on these threads. Perhaps Universal made a rod for their own back by setting a timescale, but presumably they meant to honour it at the time. In any event, when they do start to repost shows the complaints will start from those who do not like them, wanted a repeat of a previous show, moaning that it is a repeat, or demanding something that is not in Universal's catalogue. And the contributions to worthy causes will still be pitiful.

I do agree with you completely (From what I understand from your comment) I was just upset that they said they were going to start streaming shows again, and then when the time came, they stayed completely silent. I get that they were probably just busy, and didn't have time to post an update. But its like if, a movie company or a brand, said they were going to release something and then, they don't, and they act like they never said anything about it. I've seen people do it before. I know the shows must go on channel is very different from other people who have done stuff like that. But I'm just saying. And also, I _didn't_ ask them to do shows again, I just asked them to address the situation. And also (I almost forgot) Andrew Lloyd Webber did make a video saying that thay raised over half a million dollars for the actors fund. From What I understand from your comment. You make it sound like they barely made any money. I don't want to continue this argument, I want a solution.

Carrie’s lack of acting experience badly showed in scenes like this one. The dialogue delivery is rushed and uneven and it felt like she tried to make up for that with her singing.
Meanwhile Audra is pitch perfect.
Carrie was playing a young nun, not an Academy Award winning actress. I liked her vulnerability as it was very real and was appropriate for being anxious that she had upset the Mother Superior!!!!!
Carrie can sing but her acting leaves a lot to be desired. Ruined it for me!
Audra should've been cast as Maria, maybe earlier in her career, but put her in a musical and you can tell the others have nothing on her. Carries tries and sounds great but she doesn't have the depth. That's why the phrasing here is all changed for the Ma Sup so she doesn't show up the weaker voice.
Apart from Audre...I really cannot listen to Carrie..with due respect, that fatal feature or string (call it the missing but crucial factor) that Julie infused once and for all times can never be replaced.. sorry, no bad feelings, just my opinion!

So sorry that the wonderful Audra McDonald had to work opposite an amateur for this production. Wasn't any talent on a calibre near Miss Julie Andrews available or was the cringeworthy Miss Underwood truthful in saying she was on her knees to get this role?
Underwood is extraordinarily vocally talented, so what nonsense are you on about? 🤣 Just because she wasn't classically trained like Andrews doesn't mean she's any less talented.
Carrie is vocally talented. It's really hard to do musical theatre well (singing+acting+dancing), so Audra is obviously the musical theatre talent here BUT Carrie isnt untalented.
@@motab9907 Completely different styles and vocal techniques, it has nothing to do with "talent" and EVERYTHING to do with training and stylistic choices. Underwood has top of the line RAW vocal talent in spades.
I bet JULIE ANDREWS saw this PREFORMANCE and she cried a little she should have sang this version with PEGGY wood who pLays MOTHer
Carrie,'s voice is superb, and although I loved the movie and have the original soundtrack album, I prefer her singing to Julie's. I also saw absolutely nothing wrong with her acting. She gave her character an air of innocent vulnerability, which Ms. Andrews did not.
