- Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893)
Les Saisons (The Seasons), Op. 37a or Op. 37b (1875-1876)
June ("Barcarolle") in G minor
Nikolai Lugansky, 2016
Andante cantabile - Poco più mosso - Allegro giocoso - Tempo I
"Tchaikovsky was commissioned to write his twelve short pieces for solo piano by Nikolay Matveyevich Bernard, editor of the Russian musical-theatrical journal Nuvellist, to be published successively throughout the year. Each piece was given a subtitle and an accompanying verse that sensitively matched words to music or music to words as it’s not clear how much say Tchaikovsky had in the choice of texts. Best known are certainly the lilting June (Barcarolle) and the snowy November (Troika), highly praised and loved by Rachmaninov.”

Russian poem by Alexei Pleshcheyev, with english and french translations...
Пойдем на берег;
там волны будут целовать наши ноги.
С загадочной грустьюзвезды будут сиять на нас.
Алексе́й Никола́евич Плеще́е
Let us go to the shore,
There the waves will kiss our feet.
Spreading enigmatic sadness,
The stars will shine on us.
Alexei Pleshcheyev
Débarquons
Là où les vagues embrasseront nos pieds.
Nimbées d'une énigmatique tristesse,
Les étoiles brilleront sur nous.
Agree...❤
this piece is totally heart breaking. Thanks for sharing,he played so well
Belíssima interpretação!
The best pianist alive, in my humble opinion.
Que melodia mais linda! Muito sentimental!
Splendida interpretazione del brano: ne coglie perfettamente lo spirito e l'espressività.
Luxe calme et volupté !!!
Best performance online in my opinion.
I do agree
Absolutely

Никакой искусственности, надуманности! Музыка живет и дышит! Браво, маэстро!
magnifique
This song was in a video game i used to play as a child and i always loved it!
Song?
@@camilmoujaber4813 its....in the title of the video... "June" by Tchaikovsky...
@@stephaniebaird6937 do you remember the game’s name? Btw ,the song comment is just some snob that doesn’t like when people say song instead of piece lol
@@thepianosarea795 i don't remember the name of the game, but I do remember that it was one of those very simple card-matching games (yknow, click on 2 diff cards and hope that they match). And to that music snob, excuuuuse me, I guess I should have called it a "piece" 😂 music snobs bug me. I have a literal masters degree in music and i dont care what the general population calls this music. It should be enough that people care enough to listen at all. Oh well

Wonderful playing
A wonderfully soulful interpretation by one of the greatest pianists alive. His performances of works by russian composers especially, are magnificent because he has a great understanding of the russian soul first hand.
Splendid aaa
Thank you so much for this wonderful performance!!!
Très beau... J'essaie de le jouer comme lui... Ah, si j'y arrivais ! (I try to play this piece like him... If I could !!!)
Beautiful
Thank you for sharing this exquisite performance. Lovely selection. Congratulations.
Wistful playing of an old favourite.
I'm learning too, but this person plays amazingly!
"this person"?!
Same
Traumhaft! 😍
J adore cet air
He look like my science teacher
