my grandpa and I used to listen to Billy walker and Jim reeves a lot while working in the garage. when I heard this song on better call Saul I had such a rush of memories about me and the old man! makes me nostalgic
This is a wonderfully smooth and gentle delivery by Billy Walker. The song seems so sweet but Willie Nelson's lyrics have a large slice of bitterness to them. This is classy country music of the highest order.
This is a very favorite of mine...he sang it at all his shows Willie Nelson was a buddy of his. So was Marty Robbins and he never failed to sing Marty's LORD YOU GAVE ME A MOUNTAIN. I had the privilege of knowing Mr. Walker because I was a college friend of his daughter Deanna's. One time he took me to the Ryman and let me sit onstage on the musicians bench during the Saturday Night Opry in May, 1971. He also took me to church with him one Sunday morning because we were both Penecostal. He was a sweet, loving Christian who did all he could for his fellow man and we lost him Much too soon.
J'aime beaucoup cette chanson. La dernière fois que je l'ai entendue, elle était chantée par Elvis. Merveilleuse interprétation. C'est cette Amérique que j'aime.
What a wonderful classic. There was so much great music from that era that will live forever. I just do not believe that 50 years from now todays music will be as loved as this early 60's music is now. I guess I won't be here to find out, ha......Terry
Terry Harrison Are you kidding me. Today's so-called "Country" so-called "music" will be more forgotten (and deservedly so) ten years from now than the 50s through the 70s "real" Country Music will be, come 50 years from now. People will be still listening to and enjoying Hank Williams through Waylon Jennings and George Strait. But they'll be like, "What's a Brooks and Dunn...some kind of suit?"
I've only recently come across Billy Walker's version of this Willie classic when trying to get ideas on how to cover this tune for my next upload. I love all of Willie's many many renditions. I also like Elvis's version too. But wow! Billy Walker, what a smooth smooth voice! Thanks for this wonderful upload!
Well hello there My it's been a long long time How am I doin' Well I guess I'm doin' fine It's been so long now and it seems that It was only yesterday Yeah, ain't it funny how time slips away How's your new love I hope that he's doin' fine I heard you told him That you'd love him till the end of time Now that's the same thing That you told me Seems like just the other day Yeah, ain't it funny how time slips away Gotta go now Guess I'll see you around Don't know when though Never know when I'll be back in town But I remember what I tell you That in time, you're gonna pay And it's surprising how time slips away
Interesting use of a " Yancey Bass line" throughout in a song with tricky meters in the verses. This show made extensive use of the beyond rare Sennheiser DM4 microphone which was a full range unit with the element in the base of the microphone. Every singer on this series sonically benefited from the choice of this unit. A rare instance of a show really committed to good live audio, a rarity in television until relatively recent times. The DM4 is an integral unit in that the base and stand are one with what appears to be the element in the usual spot near the sound source simply the end of a hollow adjustable tube that carries the sound down to the base. Real tube preamps are required to produce the best results with this microphone. Other clips from this series with Patsy Cline also use this same microphone giving her voice a transparency not always on her records. Sennheiser has no information on their site regarding this model. It was made from about 1954 to 1957 and was used on NBC shows in the mid fifties, They turn up later here in 1963 and again in mid sixties ABC Hollywood Television Center based productions, notably "Shindig" and some 1966-67 "American Bandstand" episodes as a podium microphone.
Imagine having a brother allergic to electricity.
+xZippy38 Yeah, that's the reason I looked it up also. Next, sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny.
What? How can you be allergic to electricity?
Chuck... you are full of..
I'm allergic to Studebakers. Packard's don't bother me at all. I've never been in a Hudson or a La Salle so I can't say either way.
Zippy metal illness
This is when country WAS country !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
savanna lutz And men were men.
You’re absolutely correct🫡
That melody is so melancholy and nostalgic

My mother loved country music. She used to go to the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport.
This feels extremely nostalgic
What a voice. So much control and character

This song has aged immaculately well
Love this song 🎉😢
best version of this song by anyone
Great oldie but goodie thanks. ❤😅
Willie Nelson wrote this son, "Crazy", and "Nightlife" all in one week back in 1964.
So nostalgic, brings back memories of yesteryear. ❤
Probably the best diss track I’ve ever heard
That steel guitar sounds so good here.
This was the first time I saw or even heard of Billy Walker, about five or six years ago. It must be the best of his recorded live performances.
I was just about to agree with this, then I realised it was me that wrote it.
Очень красиво ❤
THANKs. Enjoyed your video.seen Billy many times at Lone Star Ranch in Reedsferry N H 70s 80s great man

Great job by Billy with the Willie Nelson-penned ballad.
My mother used to go to the Louisiana hayride in Shreveport, Louisiana
love this, thank you for posting
Well hello there
My it's been a long long time
How am I doin'
Well I guess I'm doin' fine
It's been so long now and it seems that
It was only yesterday
Yeah, ain't it funny how time slips away
How's your new love
I hope that he's doin' fine
I heard you told him
That you'd love him till the end of time
Now that's the same thing
That you told me
Seems like just the other day
Yeah, ain't it funny how time slips away
Gotta go now
Guess I'll see you around
Don't know when though
Never know when I'll be back in town
But I remember what I tell you
That in time, you're gonna pay
And it's surprising how time slips away
Hello !
A awsome dong . ❤😊
C'est drôle comme une chanson toute simple, avec une histoire toute simple et des paroles également simples peuvent faire un succès aussi important.
one lovely singer
What a great song>>Well done.
Thanks so much for sharing this.
I love the song, have done for a while.
This live version is nothing short of astounding. :)
Amazing song!

Great singer and song R.I.P.
Amazing
rest in peace Billy.🎼
Great backup from Billy Byrd and excellent non-pedal steel guitar work from Bob Foster.
Gotta love that high pitch melody
Would have been an excellent track for Fallout New Vegas
Yeah.
I have no idea how it can sound so Fallout New Vegas-y without actually being in the game.
Literally was thinking that just the other day, probably because im such a better call saul and NV fan
Wish there was more people like this in 2023
Ageless masterpiece
LOVE THIS SONG
Awesome version! I also like Rev. Al Green & Lyle Lovett's version as well.
90' Flav Call me ✨
the steel guitar makes up for the blase nature of his voice. wow is that pedal steel killin it.
Perfection
I like that bass.
the feels
60s-90s are the best
Hi !
This live performance is better than his record. Slowed it down a little and has more of laid back a groove.
This song is so passive agressive. 😂
This song appears in The Devil All The Time and I thought I recognized it, now that I found it, I remembered that 90sflav sample it in Call Me
Hi !
