Brad, Keep after it, We didn't have a studio until 2 years ago, but we were able to make a case for how beneficial it would be for the university to have one. Having our own studio has made a world of difference in what we can create and how quickly we can do it.
What kind of budget do you have? What’s your enrollment and what is your service expectation to the campus. You and Nate and how many student assistants? Who do you report to?
Having statistical data proving the need for a studio space was the key to our proposal, we talk about the data we track in this video: th-cam.com/video/1JQM0DsY_Dw/w-d-xo.html
Dustin, it is just a concrete floor, we patched all the cracks and then applied the paint over the top of it. The transition from the floor to the cyc is excellent, check out Procyc if you are looking to install one.
This is such an amazing space! If you could get one camera would you get the R5 or R3? I shoot with the 1DX mark2 rn. I love it but I know it’s time to learn a new system.
Lisa, that is a great question. What I tell people is that if you shoot sports, wildlife or other fast moving objects the R3 is the best camera, for everything else I recommend the R5. If you need a fully silent camera, the electronic shutter in the R3 is excellent, so we also use it for concerts and plays.
I'd really love a short video about the WFT for canon. I am not sure if I should buy one, but I dont fully understand how it works and could not find a decent video on yt.
OMG!
no questions, just pure envy 😅
the geniun studio in the world... from ethiopia
Your photo budget is insane. I'm envious. I'm working the U of Minnesota hard pushing for more.

THIS is my dream studio!!!!
Those videos and general content you guys make are just the best. I wish I had the privilege to attend BYU.
Looks amazing!!! Congrats!!!
Thank you!!
Wow!!!
What is the floor material in your cyc room? How is the seamless transition made between the arc and the floor?

Thank you for the information on Shutter Snitch. I have a terrible time connecting my R5 to the Canon Connect App. Hope this works better.
Shutter Snitch is great, we're working on a video to help photographers set it up.
@@byuphoto Can't wait for the video. Thank you
Great video ! What exactly did you use to mount the Profoto Softboxes to the wall ?
we went to the hardware store and got 4" PVC caps! fit perfectly.
@@byuphoto brilliant! Thanks for the reply

Which camera are you using?
Here are several we've created: th-cam.com/play/PLkMmnnBtuBZlUMAibXlrJk86rFT99isGN.html
This blog post explains our setup: byuphoto.exposure.co/byuswirelessworkflow
Mannn I go to a Film/Photography university and we don't have all that equipment, I'm soooo jealous
This is amazing! What are the dimensions of the area in the portrait space in the beginning of the video?
It has been a huge blessing to us! the dimensions are roughly 8'x18' when the backdrop is down. We have about 4' of room for storage behind it.
What backpacks do the students use, Think Tank Streetwalker?
Yep, version 2s for the most part,
Love the sense of humor Jaren. I'd love to reminisce about your playing days and that magical season you won the Heisman Trophy.
Thanks David, I really miss slinging the pigskin, and I've lost my keys to the Heisman House.
