I'm glad you brought it up, so I dont have to :) But that's not the most important simplification here -- also this is not a documentary, just a story of a polish family so take it easy Bratku. :)
I found out that my ancestors were 70 percent Russian and 10 percent polish and other European but I really like Poland for some reason. And I am an American.😊
It might be considered Polish American. Many immigrants that come to this country adapt their foods too American tastes as well as Fruits and Vegetables. A great example of this is Chinese food in the US
i grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and there were so many polish people. i'm surprised i didnt pick up the language. i would be buddies with someone then one day theyd randomly start speaking polish a year later and casually Say oh yea i'm polish and id be like😱
Hey, I'm a Polish person and I'm thinking of going to the USA. Just wanted to ask any Polish - Americans or Americans, how will I be treated? Do people like Polish people or not?
Jakub Wasz I'm Polish-American (surname Miazga) and there are usually no problems. As long as you don't live in a majority Protestant or Black neighborhood you should be just fine!
Poland has adopted christianity in 966 (and joined European Catholic nations familly)It was not established in 966!!! , it did exist before as an pagan state(same as Grand Dutchy of Luithuania that was pagan a long time after Poland) Poles were called Lachs or Lechits before , multiple wifes , more of an warlord rule instead of prince or king etc. We were the result of domination of Goplans or Polans that is confused till this day but the name Poles (Pepole on the field) that later came into existance came out of the fact that Lechits(Poles) did appear in the feeld of battle no matter what the odds . I hate that catholic total disregard of our roots . Paganism itself never died but was mixed with Christianity - an paradox nobody really talk about . Starting with drowning of Marzanna , day of the dead and plenty more traditions that survived since pagan times are still very important same as proverbs such as "Licho nie śpi" - Licho does not sleep (Licho - an slavic demon that can change the situation into trouble) or "nie siej Boruty" ( don't spread Boruta" -"do not spread bullshit or bad behaviour" another demon that confused the road for travelers ) and so on ...
Hi XtravaganZa 91 I'M from Poland and my mom always served pierogies like that especially when she wanted to give a little more extra flavor and appearance to the dish. The soup in that bread is the most tradittional dish in Poland and yes it is served like that in Polish restaurants. I don't know about the annanase but who cares.
LovelyPolishPerson oh wait yoiu said Polish Americans not just Polish people yeah they probably are quite well off Poland however, has a lot of pretty poor people
Very cool but this accordion music in the background sounds more Russian or Romanian. They should have played Chopin, can't get more Polish than Chopin. :-)
Polak wUSA gdyby Polonia w USA potrafiła by zbudować silne struktury to nie było by tkich pomyłek bo każdy amerykanin pojażył by nas Polaków z kulturą. Ale jako że polonia nie potrafi praktycznie nic zbudować (w porównianiu do innych mniejszości jak żydzi czy szkoci) to jest jak jest.
In this case I agree - they should include at least one Chopin's Mazurka ffs! But then again, you do realise, i hope, there's more than Chopin when it comes to Polish traditional Music. Chopin wrote and played Mazurkas... Mazurkas were, by name even, folks music, peoples Music. You get my drift? ;)
Acordion is so polish. I am polish and my grandfather and I are playing it. And if I think about acordion than I think about Poland. I am polosh so I konw better. I just love polsih folk music (acordion and viola)
What a nice and interesting show! I really enjoyed it :) But regarding Royal Warsaw, it's reeeaally not the way Polish cuisine looks like. They're selling "false-traditional" food. Even their cook's not a Pole at all. Pierogies are never served like that, the Żurek doesn't look the way it should be, pineapple isn't used in our cuisine, the latkes are served more or less the Hungarian way, This restaurant sells bullshit and American customers probably won't ever taste the real Polish cuisine.
wait, im fourth generation like that guy so if i went to a festival like that and wore the clothing it would not be considered cultural appropriation?! i need to know
. Potato pancakes are made in tradittional way all polish restaurants they serve it like that hungarian way its only called like that. They are not selling no bullshit. I don't understand why would you say that.
That cook certainly is not polish. "Truskawska pierogi"? Besides we do not serve any pineapple. Sometimes i thint that those emigrants try to be more polish than Poles living in Poland. That is very pathetic. Greetings form Poland!

It's mostly more than 10 million Polish Americans if you consider Americans who are just 1/8 or 1/4 Polish. Then it would be closer to 15 million Polish Americans.
You could direct this question to any white american who is self concious about his european identity lol, first of all theyre already settled in so why even bother with so much work and second of all while Poland is decent to live in it's way worse than US economically
wtf how can you feel connected with poland when you can't even speak polish... the children can't polish .. You neither understand them nor the cook ... of course it is important to know and respect your roots but this is just too much!!

Great doc. I've been to Poland several times and would go back in a heart beat.
Dobrze wiedzieć, że po tylu latach są tam w Stanach Polacy którzy są dumni z tego kim są i pielęgnują naszą piękną historię :)
Most of that can be attributed to our parents, grandparents, etc. They made damn sure to pass that knowledge on haha

It might be considered Polish American. Many immigrants that come to this country adapt their foods too American tastes as well as Fruits and Vegetables. A great example of this is Chinese food in the US
Where is Chicago in this? It has more Poles than any other city in the world except for Warsaw.
Most of us are long gone from chicago in the suburbs etc. People count burbs an hour away from chicago as chicago when its not true
Before WWII Warsaw was the 2nd largest Jewish community after New York City

Very beautiful culture. Poles have been through so much in history and we have to learn that bottom line is that were all human.
Is it true that Polish Americans are very wealthy when compared to other nationalities in the U.S.?
