    ABOUT ME:
    I'm old fashioned, a bushman and solo Overlander, exploring the Pilbara where I live and Australia as a whole. I'm teaching myself film making to share my travels and experiences with my 1 year old son so he can watch years from now. I'm also sharing them with you, many people will never get to see or go to the places I'm going so I hope you find them interesting. Enjoy the weekly videos, the solo eXpedition's into the Kimberley and the world longest and most remote 4WD track the 2000km Canning Stock Route. There is so much more to come and I'm excited to share it with you.
    Join me as I take you around Australia and show you the best solo touring this country has to offer.

    Good stuff.. the night drone shots were cool!. I was surprised to see the Ranger struggling on the dunes south of Googs Lake (unless the footage was out of sequence and they are dunes north of the lake?).. so episode two should be interesting.

    Great video Gavin. Its funny as there wasn't much on youtube about the Goog's Track and since I did it with a few mates around the same time as you (yes we too have videos on it) there is plenty more. My Goog's Track video is only days away. Anyway, great video, I really enjoyed that.

    A Ceduna Ite" myself, have done the full length of Googs track once , laughed when the rear car had to back up for a dune before reaching Googs Lake, oh well, happens to some!!!!lol Loved your first days adventures, thought a bit slow in seeing the money trees and doing it in such a short period of time, you are missing out on quite a bit of scenery on the way just off the hidden track, maybe talking to a local who has driven it a few times you could have know more of the water holes, granites etc along the way.
    Did you notice the short growth and then the larger trees in this section, that is due to a large bush fire going through and wiping a large section of the native plants out
    .
    Enjoy your ventures and learn how to take more of a track in by asking the locals. Maybe you did, just not the right ones or you dont have time to holiday.

    Nice video. I’m doing a bit for research for my trip there in a few months time. Why do you have lights in your wheel arches?

    • @GavinGillett
      @GavinGillett  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh good question. Well I normally travel with all my gear but this one time I took it all out to wash the car then got a flat at 10pm in the middle of nowhere. I had everything I needed to change a tyre accept a torch so the following week I hardwired lights into the wheel arch so I'd never be stuck like that again. They also double as great spotters lights. If youre doing tricky things at night you can turn your lights off, the wheel arch and underbody lights on and the spotter can see everything without being blinded.
      Hope that helps :)

    I believe sand flags are required for Googs. Reduces the chance of a head on.

    • @GavinGillett
      @GavinGillett  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had one :( It's in a tree somewhere. It broke my aerial too :(

    • @mtrails67
      @mtrails67 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tom, They're not required like the Simpson only recommended. But yes a good idea always to reduce collisions. We did the Googs in September used our flag and uhf calls out without incident.

      Me too, but I think it's recommended not mandated. Plenty of signs pointing the other way so it may be bi-directional now days.
