Sorry to hear that the Tekin is no longer under warranty, but glad you're giving up on it. I've never had good results with Tekin ESCs is my almost 30 years of RC. Had good luck with Novak, LRPs, and now Hobby Wing. Running a Reedy 510r currently in my NPRC and enjoy it quite a bit.
I’ve had very good luck with the DRK along with my brother and cousin, don’t be afraid to experiment with all the settings, different motors will want different combinations of throttle punch, and stage power and delays and timing, I’m currently running a Trinity Dragmaster 5turn and it runs dead consistent
On your way great choice first stage 36% for .3 second stage 47% .3 third stage 68% 2.5 4th stage 81% for .2 100 percent.. delay advanced timing for .2 put 30 in the 3.5 motor 10 in the ESC. Put your slew rate at 2.3 that will get you down any road... have a blast that will get you like a 240 at 65 on your gns to go quicker just shorten your stage times it's easy you will get it quick
On the first runs of the DRK, the recommended gearing on the included card was 3.5t=20/84 4.5=22/84. I always ended up with smaller pinions for better results.
Pretty interesting that they took some information and changed their recommendation like that, it's cool to see a company constantly improving their products and user experience.
I'm not affiliated with Maclan so I cannot confirm. I didn't see any max voltage either but it does say "power input - 2s lipo" in the manual. It may be able to handle 3s for instance but this ESC was designed for No Prep RC racing where the rules limit cars to 2s lipo. So maybe they didn't bother making it capable for higher voltages cause users would be limited to 2s anyway? I'd give them a call before trying anything above 2s
I actually haven't been able to find this information anywhere, I've had a few people ask. I assumed it was a 2 pole motor, mainly based on the high RPMs but I have no proof of that. Its not listed anywhere.
I have a crazy issue ! I wired up my new drk160. I turn it on and my steering starts going all wacky and doesn't work with the radio. I have a futaba T3PV radio. Any ideas? I cant get the throttle to calibrate either
The one thing that came to mind first is maybe overpowering the servo? The internal bec of the DRK could've provided more power to the servo than before and fried it. That's the only way I can see a new esc controlling a servo in any way
@@FullThrottleRC watch voltage drop in data log and gear to maintain highest voltage possible with one of the preset tunes, then start adding power and continue to watch voltage and adjust gearing to match. If you need help message me.
@@FullThrottleRC WiFi isn’t needed. Its cheaper to get a budget android tablet and usb c to usb c cable. The WiFi module on maclan has to be disconnected from esc to use anyway. It’s not like the Hotwire.

Hey I have the new LG stylo I use that get the card it gives you the wires to run off the android has the C-type charger end on it. Also, that wireless piece works just as good.
@@FullThrottleRC ok. I could probably take the protection arms off the bottom, get drag tires that would lower it, change the body posts and shock towers, raise the rear diff, move the servo arm to the top, raise the front arms and do other things but I suppose a better chassi would work
I'd suggest starting with one of the base tunes depending on the motor you run. They are a great start and you can fine tune from there. I will cover my tune specifically in a video soon.
Do it bro! I’m so glad you got that esc. I’ll be on all of your tuner tip videos. Found a maclan at my local hobby shop a month ago
Thank you!! Actually made my first test passes as this video went live today, loving it so far. It has so much potential!

The Tekin worked well but I think it's down fall is not having a heat sink or a fan. It gets hot really fast for an esc made for racing

I definitely have some learning to do with it coming from the Tekin. I'm excited to get into tuning it soon!
Would love to see a video of putting that software on the tablet, looking forward to more videos!
Thank You!! I'm looking for an old tablet I had and then will look into it.

Where did you find the spur gears
@@Adee4750 I bought the 84t spur directly from schelle racing.
Would you have the part # by any chance

Goodluck on keeping the Top shaft straight I have the same problem the schelle one looks nice though
I don't think I've had any problem with the Schelle one yet since installing it. I'm not even sure exactly when the old one bent.
Good choice Bro
Thanks!

Uh Oh! Yessssir let’s get it 💪🏾💯 you need the wireless adapter for the drk…
Might look into it. I already use the SkyRC GNSS performance analyzer so I'm not sure if I want to have to swap between apps.
@@FullThrottleRC the adapter is needed for Bluetooth devices to be able to make adjustments in the esc… www.maclan-racing.com/products/wireless-link/
You can also just use a data mini usb cable just have to plug and unplug it everytime
@@ptshyu2 even with wireless module you still have to unplug it. It is NOT like the takin Hotwire.

Do you have a part number for the spur? I’m running an 97 and want to switch it up
The spur I was using in this video was an 87t part number AV1020-87
Dorky 40 has a set of videos for the Maclan.
I'll look around and check it out, Thanks!!

what would be a good alternative for the motor you run since you can only get it on eBay now?
I'm sure the Trinity motors will be back in stock soon but you can check out the maclan and r1 motors as well. I've heard good things about them.
is this a 13.5 setup? sorry im new to no prep!
No, I run a 3.5t motor
@@FullThrottleRC ahh okay thanks brotha
What motor do u run with that esc
Trinity Drag Master 3.5t
I like that esc but I'm at odds dx5c or flysky tuning through transmitter or drk160 and hobbywing through Bluetooth, wifi, and program box uggh
I'm liking the ESC so far. Not much time with it yet though so still a lot to learn!
3.5 turn gear at 16-17 and 84-90 spur
I went with a 17t pinion and 84t spur

It sure would be nice if you would provide links to the products you feature! Just saying!
Can do!! The DRK is out of stock just about everywhere but I'll link it in the description.
How do you buy this esc
I was lucky and found it on ebay, they are really hard to find right now

Please make a drk tnune Video Thx
I've covered it in a few of my videos. Once I get a set tune down I'll talk more about my specific tune.
do you think it would be a good idea to turn my stampede 2wd into a drag car? Edit: what wheelie bar do you use?
You'd need a new chassis as the 2wd stampede has that high cg chassis. My wheelie bar is homemade.
