I think the main reason people put Apollo Justice as their least favourite is how Phoenix is represented in the game, given how much Turnabout Succession’s plot revolves around his disbarment. That or Apollo not having that big of a role. (Not that I agree) For Dual Destinies, it could be because of the silly anime tone, the simplification of the mechanics, Apollo and his game’s plot points being wasted, Phoenix being a parody of himself, the non linear structure of the plot and the cases… being Dual Destinies cases. Well, you can guess it’s my least favourite. The reasons for disliking Spirit of Justice could be what you mentioned, the retcons (including Apollo’s backstory) or Khura’in in general.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like Dual Destinies! Phoenix didn’t really need to be in that game. It just felt like he was there as fan service, along with Klavier. Also, in this game, Apollo gets to take on the defense for ONE case and it’s the worst case in the game. He’s also not allowed to use his bracelet during the trial either because Blackquill won’t let him. I wish that they didn’t just give Phoenix his badge back right away. I wish you got to see him fight for it back. There was just too much off screen development. Apollo Justice (the game) is what I can only describe as a beautiful mess. The idea of a jury system and Kristoph being the killer in the first case made things really interesting! But then the game just got more confusing and messy as things went on. Also, you have no idea why Apollo wanted to be a lawyer in the first place until Spirit of Justice. So you’re just playing as some random guy you know next to nothing about. Spirit of Justice is one of my favorite main games, and I actually loved the story/setting in that game! Yes, I’ll admit, Apollo’s backstory is a confusing mess. I’ve also mentioned that Nahyuta got on my nerves a lot. He’s a prime example of a poorly designed character.
@@ManFreedFromKarma I hated DD because I feel like it drags on too much and for some of the reasons mentioned before. And I'd have to agree with you on nayuta as well. Also, "A beautiful mess" is the perfect way to describe Apollo Justice.
I love the part where Jinxie suggests you dislike Dual Destinies because you didn't understand The Monstrous Turnabout while getting the defendant wrong.
I agree with you! Alba’s rebuttal had me restarting so many times to the point where I just gave up and watched a guide. Also nothing was memorable from that game. With Dual Destinies it was just me being salty because Apollo was treated terribly in this game and it didn’t follow AJ’s storyline. I’m not done with TGAA2 yet so idk if it’s my favorite yet or not. TGAA1 was fun but my favorite spin off so far has got to be Investigations 2 and PL vs PW was a close second
i'm the person who likes all games... yep, there are cases in games that feel like filler, like big top or recipe, or soj cases 2 and 4, but they are still fun in their own way, and the games they are in are still good regardless of that
Ace attorney investigations 1- You don’t like the investigation part or you dont like the osts. Gyakuten Kenji 2 (or procecutors path)- You dont like chess logic
Trials and Tribulations was the worst. Prosecutor Sahdmadhi was an awesome guy! He’s Polly’s older brother, he has magic and he’s overall a great guy! Although he prosecuted my trial, I still like him as a friend!
Nah, for me it was the final Turnabout of Edgeworth's first spin off and then the, I think, fourth one of the second game (the one with the dumb nurse and the old woman nurse who kept hitting her on the head with a staff). The vagueness of the clues to what evidence was correct to what statement annoyed me to no end. -_- But all the other games, love 'em. And Edgeworth's games are, truly, a thing you MUST play to properly experience. Sadly, the second is in Japanese only (or Borgian, if you pirate it _incorrectly_ and makes the game unplayable).
Tbh i hate phoenix in dual destinies more than Apollo. Apollo at least gets SOMETHING to work with, Phoenix literally has nothing to do with the story and is just there for the fanservice's sake 😭 At least we got athena and simon though
Klavier was also in that game as fan service. They did him dirty with that objection too. They made him sound like a 12 year old boy whose voice has yet to break.
@@ManFreedFromKarma Apollo also got done dirty in the va department too, no offense to the voice actor but that voice does NOT fit Apollo "chords of steel" Justice
I kinda agree... I think it's because Phoenix's character development can't go further. He's really just there as a mentor character. He's practically "trilogy Phoenix" the moment he got his badge back. As well the fact that his development from AJ wasn't implemented at all (ik it's controversial, but I personally think it added nuance to Phoenix's character). It makes AJ look like an AU, when it was a perfect set up for good sequel. Straight from trilogy to DD, and one thing wouldn't change.
honestly i hate apollo justice because of how phoenix is portrayed. he feels like an entirely different person, and then in dd/soj they get rid of all of that character development and growth just to make him act the exact same way that he did in the trilogy. everything after the trilogy kinda sucks.
Turnabout bigtop is wonderful and I've never understood the slander. Moe is rediculous and stupid in the best way, the blonde girl is super sweet, max being a country bumpkin was a hilarious reveal, the twist of the murderer and the plot surounding it was clever and not even close to being the most bullshit in terms of plausibility (at least compared to the standard AAPW series trials), so like can someone give me an actual valid reason as to why they hate that case so much because the most I've heard was "it was bad"
The main reasons people don’t like big top are: 1. The music. (I hated that big top theme. It hurt my ears) 2. Two older men are in love with a teenage girl. 3. Apparently the investigations were long? I didn’t think they were but then again I haven’t played JFA since March lol
@@ManFreedFromKarma OH DAMN DKAJCHA. I personally loved the music but that's because I like clown/circus-esque music Understandable but I'm personally desensitized to media from Japan having weird amounts of pedophilic shit. Also I often forget to check character profiles anyways so that doesn't help either And that's interesting, I've never really cared about how long a case is but that's coming from someone who really enjoyed turnabout revolution so
@@ItsTubeTime That makes sense that you liked the music lol it’s personally not my cup of tea but I see where you’re coming from Yeah it’s kinda weird how pedophilic Japanese media can be. I didn't like big top but I don't think it's the worst. *Kidnapped Turnabout intensifies* I don't like it mainly because of the music, it just grates on my nerves. It gave me so much suffering that I nearly dropped Investigations 2 when Regina appeared in I2-2 with that horrible music. The pressing penalty with Moe is another part I didn't quite like. For one, a penalty for incorrect pressing is interesting but they should really find a better excuse for it (which they did, hilariously in 3-3) than "everyone hates this clown's awful jokes". For another, you only get a massive penalty when you press the correct statement and fail to present evidence, otherwise I think you don't get affected at all. I don't find the love triangle thing so messed up though, it's clear that Ben and Regina viewed Trilo as a complete seperate person, the joke of that is supposed to be the fact that Regina is dating a puppet, and I highly doubt that Ben is seriously trying to marry Regina. Also the investigations reminded me of 1-3 in a bad manner. I like long cases, they are generally rich in story and emotion if correcrly played out. For.instance, 2-4 takes an average of 5-7h on a blind playthrough and never did I feel it ever dragged out. The problem is how you are often left with nothing indicating what to do, and you mostly just "check every pixel. Get thing. Show thing to clown. Get other thing. Show other thing to puppeteer. Talk to girl. Fight the monkey. Talk to girl." Ugh, that takes forever. And may I add that the reveal that the bust is under the wheelchair is just... I mean, plenty of people have never observed wheelchairs in use closely, having no idea that there's a cloth convenient for hiding the bust, and they never told you. I had to try all the options to progress because I thought Acro had nowhere to hide the bust with, so he can't have it on him. It was terrible.
