      I wish that this was available more easily. So much of the artwork was designed to looked like Tolkien's own artwork, and the less that things change the more that you have a constant theme.

      True facts I read the original books all 3 different Hobbits in public schools Jr highschool in my reading classes in 1977 before the this Arthur Rank Jr and Jules Bass cartoons started on t.v. and then my reading teacher told us to watch the Hobbit cartoon movie on t.v. and then make a drawing of what was your most favorite scene of the cartoon and I drew Smaug dragon and Bilbo with the sword 🗡️ in the mountain castle of Lonely Mountain with hard to draw gold coins all over the Ground since I didn't have any gold crayons . We read all 3 original small paperback extras thick books and I would rent out extra my Capital Salem, Oregon Main large library books of the other different Jrr Tolkien regular size non- small paperback books in 1978 during the summer time. I was 13 years old and 14 years old in public schools Jr highschool reading classes.

    "Far over the Misty Mountains rise
    Leave us standing upon the heights
    What was before, we see once more
    Is our kingdom a distant light
    Fiery mountain beneath a moon
    The words unspoken, we’ll be there soon
    For home a song that echoes on
    And all who find us will know the tune
    Some folk we never forget
    Some kind we never forgive
    Haven’t seen the back of us yet
    We’ll fight as long as we live
    All eyes on the hidden door
    To the Lonely Mountain bourne
    We’ll ride in the gathering storm
    Until we get our long forgotten gold
    We lay under the Misty Mountains cold
    In slumbers deep and dreams of gold
    We must awake, our lives to make
    And in the darkness a torch we hold
    From long ago where lanterns burned
    Until this day our hearts have yearned
    A fate unknown, the Arkenstone
    What was stolen must be returned
    We must awake and make the day
    To find our song for heart and soul
    Some folk we never forget
    Some kind we never forgive
    Haven’t seen the end of it yet
    We’ll fight as long as we live
    All eyes on the hidden door
    To the Lonely Mountain bourne
    We’ll ride in the gathering storm
    Till we get our long forgotten gold
    Far away the Misty Mountains cold."

      One of the best songs ever.. It reminds people to seize their destiny, no matter how great the wealth or legacy preceding them might be.. No matter how great the gold, you still have to take it in handm
      Erebor is a dream and a destination. Never give up on the people that you care for and never stop loving those most precious to you.

    Personally I think that the original version of "Misty Mountains Cold" from Rankin Bass' "The Hobbit" (1977) is the best compared to the one in Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" (2011) Trilogy. Because nobody could sing it better than the late legendary Thurl Ravenscroft of The MelloMen could. Very fitting for his unique bass voice. & nobody could ever replace Thurl Ravenscroft in my honest & humble opinion. But 2ndly I LOVE Neil Finn & his son's version too. I promise y'all that. Please don't get me wrong on that 1.
    R.I.P. Thurl Ravenscroft (1914-2005)

    • @henrypaleveda7760
      @henrypaleveda7760 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the plot was destroyed by the demands of three extra production groups who did nothing to help the movie and only took the money (two out of five actually worked with the logistics of production). the movies were so garbled because there were five different ideas for it, none of which agreed and most of which had no care for the content itself or the continuity/quality thereof.

      Der Galran Zhadar Dude that's a bit unfair don't you think? You cannot compare animated to live-action, it may be the same story but they're 2 distinctly different takes & styles+The live-action Hobbit movies, although not on the same level as The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, were still great fun endlessly entertaining movies with an outstanding talented cast of familiar & new faces!!! The Star Wars Prequels were horrible (especially Attack of The Clones), The Matrix Sequels were horrible but The Hobbit Trilogy was anything but :)

      +DragonHeart613
      So ignoring almost everything Tolkien wrote means a different style to you? I only had to take one look at the first so called movie to see, that this is no longer the story Tolkien wrote. I can't remember reading about beardless dwarves or pale space-orcs, which are unable to die. The original book had enough material to create one, better two movies, which could have been true to the story and still epic at the same time. I don't mind small changes, but rewriting the whole story with it's basic asthetics is something unacceptable to me. This may be a good Trilogie, I guess for action fans it could even be awsome, but it's a utterly terrible representation of Tolkiens world and dishonors all it's inhabitents. I mean, have you ever heard someone saying: "Damn boy, that dwarf is hot."? Dwarves aren't ment to be attractiv to humans, their ladies even have beards too. Tolkien wrote enough about his world and it's characters. He often wrote (way too) many details, which made his stories (unneededly) long. Details like the colour and lenghts of the beards and hoods. But hey, maybe I expected to much thinking that the Hobbit would be based upon it's book.

    • @willowpingree7933
      @willowpingree7933 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Der Galran Zhadar Then I take it, you don't much like the Lord of the Rings trilogy either? What with all the changes they made to each of those films and characters they subsequently left out altogether.

    • @Tsumefan2
      @Tsumefan2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      some of the dwarves DID have beards you know and they did follow the books a little bit more why do you think they changed the goblin town tune?

    • @1krani
      @1krani 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They still encounter Bolg, they still go down to Goblin Town, they still meet the trolls and obtain the stolen weapons, they still get caught in Mirkwood and trapped by the spiders, Bilbo still beats Gollum in a game of riddles and steals the One Ring, Gandalf still goes off to sort out that Necromancer (by the by, the Necromancer in The Hobbit WAS Sauron; Tolkien retconned it in Lord of the Rings), the wood elves are still kind of pricks, Smaug still goes off and does all the stuff he does in the book, Bard still shoots him down in one shot, the Five Armies still show up to fight over gold.
      The movies, even the animated one, you have to remember weren't translations. They were adaptations. Not only that, they're adaptations from different eras with different sensibilities. It's the same thing which leads most modern Tarzan movies to drop all the white supremacist undertones of the original novels. I'm not saying Tolkien's books were THAT kind of dated, but what worked back in the day won't always appeal to modern audiences.
      I recently tried reading a book called "The Worm Ouroboros", which Tolkien himself said helped inspire him to create the intricate world of Middle Earth. I say "tried" because I couldn't get more than 20 pages before the books INCREDIBLY archaic style of "tell all the visuals and don't give us anything character-related" forced me to quit. If that book was adapted to film today, you better believe that a ton of crap would be changed. Not everything holds up when the thing you're adapting is over 70 years old.
      And frankly, I find it hilarious that you go on and on about how unfaithful The Hobbit films were to the source material and yet the best specific example you could name is that some of the dwarves are beardless. That's like complaining how James Potter was on a different spot on the Hogwarts Quiddich team. Who cares? It in no way affects the plot, characters, decisions, consequences, or ultimate outcome in any way. Feel free to complain, but if THAT'S your deal-breaker, you're not going to convince anyone.
