I own a masonry company in NYC. We are really only have trowel-hands working for us. All the men are fully capable just not educated in this way. I hope to incorporate this in to some of our work down the line, and I just want to thank you for making this knowledge public. Much appreciated.
Brilliant video, you must have the patience of Job. Those arches look amazing. Being watching your vids for a couple of years now. I followed your tutorials on the different brick patterns and also using lime mortar. Which I really enjoyed using. In 2017 I built 27 metres of rumbled brick wall with two sets of curved steps. Buttering my bricks following your style made life a lot easier. I was like a kid again I couldn't wait to get up( or home from work) to get a mix on. All can say is it's a good job I wasn't being paid by the bricks laid. I'm 61 now looking forward to my next project. Thanks for your time and effort making these videos, keep em coming.
Like you said Rob, there are two or three ways of doing this but from what I have seen, your way is the only one that takes into consideration the rise and thinks about the top of the key brick meeting courses. Thanks for preserving all this knowledge.
rob songer thanks for taking the time to do these videos at this time I won’t be the only one appreciating them rob. I’m now doing pizza oven design for when I move house I really want to build the helix 🧬 chimney there amazing and I’ve never built a twist before. Do you have and twist and squares in stock rob?
Excellent Rob , Watched the whole series , very well explained with the more complex arches . Would never cross most peoples minds the amount of setting out and the geometry involved in creating these lovely arches .Very similar to W.G.Nash as someone else mentioned.
Incredible stuff. Already started contemplating where I could put an arch around my house. Don't need one, so I'll have to make up an excuse just to be able to do this.
Wow the more work goes into something the more impressive it is . They look stunning you must be very proud of those Rob . We could all do with setting up a crowd funding page to get you a new pencil though ✏️😂😂🧱👍🏼
Great series rob, drawing board on order, am planning on drawing and then building a couple of these arches in back garden once back to work so I can cut voussiers using templates on site as missus doesn't like me cutting bricks in back garden as I found out last week when doing cuts for panel as she thinks concrete saw is to noisy and messy, little does she know it would be a lot more messy if I didn't use water but building in back garden is great way to get young fellas out of the house in these uncertain times and of the computers especially when they are enjoying it as much as me👍
A structural engineer would work out the loads on an arch and if it was considered to need extra support then a concrete and/or steelwork could be added to the design
Hi Butcher, yes I've seen 3 different ways of doing this but as I was always taught the way I show here I still find it the easiest, Thank you for watching..
Ah, sorry, they were all recorded in HD but the quality reduced during the upload. All the videos are still on my laptop in full HD, I may re-upload once it gets sorted

It's great to see the setup in such detail and easy to follow you really are a fantastic teacher / master

Thank you David, that was a lovely comment, I found myself smiling all the way through my reading.

Ah,looks good.Built one when I was younger but the geometry was a bit simpler.
Love to watch what you're doing here.
This is my fav arch rob. Loving these videos made me did out my old drawing board. Amazing what you forget in 20years
I'm glad you started drawing again, thanks for watching

Yes Stephen, I have 3 left from the last batch. They are £95 + pp £20 (£115)
rob songer sounds great I’ve wanted one for a few years now. Can you send me details to do this transaction rob. Cheers
Been retired twenty years but still find your videos riveting. Admire your teaching manner and style. Excellent.
Thank you, that means a lot to me

The master
..but I'm not..
Nice thanks
Not bad at all.
Great videos but they're in 240p it's very blurry and I can't see what's going on
Hi Rob.. is there a limit to the span of the arch?( I'm not a bricklayer, just been drawing these in CAD).
A structural engineer would work out the loads on an arch and if it was considered to need extra support then a concrete and/or steelwork could be added to the design
@@robsonger1 Thank you.
The three centred arch was common on the canals and the railways, so that gives you an idea of the span they could achieve without additional support.
Rob if seen other ways of drawing a 3 centered arch from you tube and theres a lot less steps not sure how credible those methods are though any idea
