I had my basement done with Nudura ICF and love it. I am hoping to do the rest of the house with it since wood prices are through the roof lol. My house will be 30x30 two story + basement with a single slope roof. I would love to have a net zero house with solar.
Thank you for the video and for confirming something I had always suspected: If you put enough insulation under the slab or your ground floor it will stay warm. Just by adding an extra R5 or R10 to what is normally code in most areas (R10), you will get a warm floor. The money you will save from not installing the radiant heating will buy all the insulating panels you need and save some extra cash. And BTW insulation will never fail or leaks... I had radiant heating in 4 apartments that I have rented the past 10 years and although it gives you a nice cozy feeling it also makes your feet and legs too warm very quickly, I ended up keeping it off most of the time and was just using the HVAC on heating mode which was plenty. Also, most people would like to install radiant heating thinking it will be great for the kids, but when they are still small and crawling on the floor or they are still short, the heat propagating from the floor will make them uncomfortable. That is what I noticed when mine were toddlers and crawling on the radiant floor, they were always sweating. The only rooms where I would eventually install radiant heating are the bathrooms. Cheers.
Great feedback, thanks! In those homes that we have installed radiant, the floor temp is low enough I've never heard that complaint, but maybe that's because folks wouldn't feel right bringing that point up when radiant was something they really wanted.
You might want to measure your tile floors...If its 68° in the house, your floor is definitely not warmer than that. Nevertheless, I get it. There's nothing like a warm floor!
Very helpful, we are debating icf with or without infloor radiant in MN. Could you do a video on how you heat the house.
Great idea. Yes!
@@RValueHomes looking forward to it...

You will not regret doing the entire home in ICF. It makes going net zero much easier, and adds comfort and security to boot!

Thanks for sharing but 67-68 degrees is still cold for a hard floor surface.
