His lyrics are poetically relatable with creative clever deep soul and story telling. One of the best, along with brandon boyd from incubus and jesse cash from erra.

An absolute masterpiece from beginning to end. Even the mixing - everything is so clear and precise despite the mind-boggling complexity layered together. Still have to pick my jaw up off the floor every time I get to the end.

Where’d you see them at? I saw them in philly at the voltage lounge, they had just came out with Wake the week I saw them but everyone wanted to hear this album, I think the other band was stolas(might be misspelled)

Man sometimes I write the stupidest things. Lemme try rewording that: Their other albums are excellent however they have yet to match the drama and idiosyncrasies that I think this album has, and I wish they would try harder to make their music as detailed and engaging once again, while still moving forward with their sound as always.

Oh man, I love music like this. Music like A Lot Like Birds, Circa Survive, The Fall of Troy and Dance Gavin Dance are my favorite. Followed closely by all manner of Metalcore bands. I'm only half way through the first song and I can already tell they're an amazing band. Plus, A Lot Like Birds recommended them haha, so I guess it's safe to say I'm going to buy what they have via Itunes.
And their lead vocals are done by their drummer? What? What skill haha! Takes a lot of breath control.

Fam this band has toured with both bands and is touring with DGD right now. They also used to be signed to Will Swan's record label along with other "swancore" bands. Both fanbases are all over hail the sun

Why do people say this sounds like Circa Survive? The music sounds nothing like Circa Survive, the vocals sound similar in tone but completely different in style and melody.

Matt Northrup It genuinely doesn't. Dance Gavin Dance doesn't sound like Circa, take out the screaming and is Dance Gavin Dance just like Circa Survive? Of course not! This is much closer to Dance Gavin Dance. Literally the only similarities are that Donovan has a similar tone and it's the same genre of music.
It's similar to dance gavin dance in over feel and tone, but the melodies sound like something that Anthony Green might write. And besides that, it sounds a whole lot closer to the Fall of Troy but with a better singer. Dance Gavin Dance is a little bit less insane and more just groove, where as this doesn't always even have a groove.

The first song is about sex, the second song is about men who prey on women, the third song is questions about death, the fourth song is about killing somebody, still can't figure out what the fifth song is about though.
fifth song is about drugs and doctors who prescribe too much, towards the end donovan talks about losing his patience, which is a play on words because the doctor he is referring to would also be losing his ‘patients’
