Forgot to mention Inner Will and fiend. Unless you're extremely big brained just always be in inner fire. For fiend you should use it in conjunction with mana hymn now that mana matters more. You can also call for a second lust when you pop it to get extra mana back as the haste will give your fiend a few extra swings.
I'm not sure if you didn't mention it because it's so universal, but intellect is always the #1 stat priority for basically any caster since it's spell power and mana. For disc I think that mastery is more important than holy just because of how nice that extra absorption is with the guaranteed proc from PoH. The mini hot from the holy mastery isn't significant enough to focus on.
@@PRC533 yes I already knew that. But PoH crits give 4x shield. Non crit is like 2k shield, crit is like 8k shield. Hence the value you get from crit is insane.

Lot of good info in here! I started out w your opinion on atonement healing but then I started reading through some logs for top healers and found it is a lot more than just filler healing. I get a lot of parses in the 90s now and even a couple of 99s and I use smite/hf a lot more than just for archangel. My mana stopped being an issue when I changed to this style as well.
Atonement is useful and powerful in certain circumstances but the vast majority of discs use it as a crutch and spam it way too much, dont understand when to use the rest of their toolkit.
@@doublezug7193 i basically only used it for archangel but then I checked logs for the top disc priests and they are stacking haste and some crit and spamming smite. Rotation is much easier that way and apparently better

Ill probably do a video on tips for heroics at some point. The playstyle isnt too different from mixed raid healing but if you dont have a Blood DK (you should have one in raids almost always) youll have to do a bit more tank healing on average. Atonement is also great in 5 mans, especially the easier ones.
It's pretty simple, shield tank, use borrowed time for either penance if someone is low, prayer of healing if everyone is low, or smite if no one is.(Also remember that penance doesn't consume borrowed time). Then use holy fire(it's already so fast borrowed time doesn't increase the speed as much as smite or something else). Holy fire is your best heal for its mana cost and cast time. Use prayer of mending on cool down and smite whenever there's nothing happening or only one person is low. Once you get 5 stacks of evangelism use arch angel for the mana back and extra healing. Build up 5 stacks of evangelism again and just press whatever buttons you need and again just spam smite whenever everything is on cool down or people are topped or near topped. Never flash heal, or renew. Greater heal is decent but typically you're better off just smiting and holy fire.
@@ahetzel9054 I basically agree but in very low gear greater heal is much better than smite, especially outsife of glyph of smite window. I would also consider taking train of thought in low gear for heroics and pressing GH a lot, although at this point in the expansion tanks/dps in rdf or premade groups have enough gear that your mana matters a lot less.

Nice vid! Just a poiner to people who see the holy priest and think like "Ooo they so bad he getting crushed, useleess spec". This is pre patch and not lvl 85, it will be waaay different at that lvl :)
Yeah, hpriest can pump even in prepatch it just matches up poorly rn with hpal and disc because it lacks absorbs to mitigate overhealing. A disc doing 50khps raw vs a hpriest doing the same will heal for way more because of aegis. If you solo or two heal with a hpries they will blast even in icc.

After some experience, I think that disc is going to be nice to have as an-off healer. I leveled disc and ran it up until I hit heroics, where it started to struggle because of a general lack of gear for everyone. Just did BWD 10 man for the first time healing as a holy priest with a disc as our only other healer. I can say that at least with the gear people have right now, you don't have the global time or mana to screw around with trying to cast holy fire and smite to get value out of atonement. There is so much unavoidable raid damage happening all the time that healing is a full time job. Because of all this aoe damage, I was absolutely smashing the disc priest in HPS and total heals. It would have been good to have another primary healer like a paladin or druid or shaman and then use the disc as kind of a flex heal/dps kind of like a shadow priest that can actually focus heal.
I've also done bwd, I spent most of the time spamming smite and holy fire. Those are your 2 most efficient healing spells and my raid was heavy melee so I never had an issue. Never had a mana issue but I wasn't using prayer of healing as much as I should have been because I still had wrath brain lol. But yea, disc is incredibly OP. At the point now where I spam smite and holy fire and entire heroic dungeon and never go oom. You just need 2k spirit unbuffed and you'll never go oom.
Personally i dont see the benefit of reducing the cd on PW:S unless youre also taking strength of soul but i would never take strength of soul unless youre doing a pvp build. I also think 1 point in surge of light is def worth it. A free instant flash heal is never a bad thing even if its only here and there. Saved a few people in last weeks raid when it proc'd. Maybe procs about 3 or 4 times on a raid boss. To me thats 40-50k free healing. Im not a top parsing healer though but i never went oom and we cleared all the raids on normal.
Id never take SOL over inspiration in a prog setting as extra uptime on the tank of the 10% dr is very strong when youre at low gear levels wrt the content. In my testing it seems to proc very infrequently but if you have a offspec slot free I would take a SOL build to fights where you will be actively spamming atonement over poh (halfus, etc.) especially chimaeron where the instant flash heals when youre spread can instantly bump someone over 10%. The problem with 'free' healing from SOL is its opportunity cost. Its contingent on you casting smite, BH or GH and costs a global. Smite is a pretty bad spell outside of damage amp, BH is only good in situations where both targets get full effectiveness and ideally at least one has grace, and GH is ok but not great on a tank with grace but is also highly situational and not something you want to spam aggressively. You want to build the disc priest around casting POH, our strongest spell by far, as much as possible and SOL just doesnt fit into that plan well

Yeah its definitely one of the most changed healing specs and takes a while to get used to coming from wrath.
