A four-bedroom accommodation facility for workers flown into Hawke’s Bay to harvest fruit had been earning its owners about $3500 a week in rent, despite it appearing to breach minimum accommodation standards.

We used to live in shared with one other dunkers as nurses on the islands for the Australian government it was fine as it’s temporary. No where as nice as this. Be careful not to make an issue out of nothing and they lose their jobs. Though I do think they’re getting ripped off with the rent

$150 per week for a dorm bed, and a shared kitchen and bathroom is a crime. I rent a single room in a modern house, all included, and it cost me $160.

I worked on a trawler...this is no different to ship or army probably. 6hrs on 6 off shifts. But some 12rs. However, we have cooks and the one I was on cleaning. And FREE accommodation.

WE HAD 16 DAYS OFF IN A MONTH DUE TO BAD WEATHER. THE RSE WORKERS STILL GOT PAID HOURLY RATE BUT US FULL-TIME KIWI WORKERS DID NOT ! WE STILL HAD TO PAY OUR MORTGAGE, POWER, FOOD, INSURANCE, FUEL ETC... THE SOONER THIS "SCHEME" GETS AN OVERHAUL THE BETTER !!!

Wow! 12Hrs×6=72hrs a week $1000÷72=$13.88888hr that's why they bring these people here! They don't want to pay the minimum wage of $22 × 72 = $1584 a week. They want cheap labor.

why do you think growers want the RSE scam to continue so badly they carve back half their wages in fees, rent, charges, transport rake back and made up costs and there is often the tax free rental property scam on site or hostel owners in nearby towns
