we know hardly anything about koldovstoretz - only that they play quidditch on trees instead of brooms, which is pretty badass. and since we couldn't make anything up about the school, i went for an ~aesthetic rather than anything specific and tried to capture the vibes of russian myths, fairytales and history, with some modern clips.
but, like, don't even ask. tbh i'm just happy this is finished; i had no idea what this was going to be when i started out, simply feeling vaguely inspired.
As a rule, the Russian magical school should be based on traditional knowledge of different ethnic groups in Russia. For example siberian shamans could turn in bear or elk, cause they had powerful hypnotic mastery.
that's a fascinating idea, i love it!
you can find this type of music on the channel Slavic Affaires, Slavic music+ Siberian or Uralian shaman motives, but they don't like to say that it is the Russian magic music, they want to demonstrate other Slavics participation in it-))) therefore they called it Slavic music.

Чаще всего, в понимании иностранцев, русская школа выглядела бы как в мультике Анастасия: балы, гусары и дворцы. Русские же отлично понимают, что это была бы скорее Русь изначальная, со всей своей мифологией, ведовством и былинностью. Потрясающе выглядит, как надо!!
Да уж, ещё и балет впихивают)
А мне кажется этот от эпохи зависит. После Петра скорее всего так и было бы. А вот во времена Союза то во что всё бы превратилось...
Как же это здорово! Теперь хочу полноценный фильм про русскую школу магии

Perfectly captures the nature of the most mysterious and isolated of the magical schools, about which almost nothing is known except its name. I mean geez, we know more information about Mahoutokoro, and the Western World has had access to Russia FAR longer than it has Japan. I'd love some kind of official lore on why exactly this is, but I'm sure we'll never get any. JK seems to have lost all interest in Harry Potter in general, she has no incentive to further develop the magical schools. What a waste.

July, this is so beautiful! Given how little information there is for this school - I mean, the quidditch on trees is just amazing - you did an amazing job of showing it! It felt just as familiar as Hogwarts, in a weird, magical **kim made a pun haha** way.

hm, that is an interesting thought. i suppose it would depend on how much influence the muggle politics & world have on the wizarding society...if it's anything like england, i suppose there probably wouldn't be much of a difference in the structure itself, maybe in the students' experiences. what are your thoughts?
consider that magic colleges students do not pay for their education only 8 magic colleges in all the world so it would be free the other thing is that the magical world money is not affected by no-maj policies maybe the magicians of that place have to be extra careful more than the colleges of uk and america the soviet union was famous for spying on its people in those times to knowso there won't be a commotion.
and the Soviet Union if they find out about the existence of that world I am sure they would use them as a weapon against the rest of the world they would use the imperio spell to have more political power with the rest of the world.
The most probable is that it would be able to use spells as a avada kedavra against no-maj in case of risk being exposed
in short:
-the schools would be free like the other magic schools.
-they would be taught deadly spells to defend against non-maj.
-and they'd know better ways to hide so they wouldn't be exposed to the government.
i agree that the school would probably be free of the muggle government. however, i don't think measures as extreme as deadly spells against non-magic threats would be necessary? just erase or change their memory, that's all that's needed. if the british muggle population hasn't found out about hogwarts and the wizarding society in the tiny land that britain is, then surely there are ways to hide a school and a probably very scattered population in the huge country of russia (or then, the soviet union, which was even bigger, even vaster). and the school seems to be old, there have always been witches and wizards - they've had to defend themselves from discovery for centuries now (religious prosecution etc.), so i don't believe that it would change even under the soviet government.
the only impact that i can realistically imagine is that the students with muggle relations (halfbloods, muggleborns etc.) would feel some sort of change, so the wizarding society would very much be aware of the political situation, but overall, i think magic is too good at simply tricking devices and non-magical people that there would ever be true danger for them.

MacduffProd I am from Russia and believe me, the word " Koldovstoretz "has no semantic meaning, but" Koldovstvoretz " just makes sense. Because it is a merging of words: "Koldovstvo" - sorcery and" tvoretz " - "creator". Thus it has the meaning "Creator of sorcery”
