I was still a kid in the 80's and I was going to pull the trigger on a T-37 and whoever originally ordered it picked some cool options it had bucket seats, Automatic on the floor, 455 engine, Dual Exhaust and I took it over to a friend of mine to help me look it over I was so in love with the car I was blinded till he had me look underneath the car and part of the frame was rusted out and I sadly had to let my Dreams of owning her go, but what an Amazing car.
I saw y'all on Coffee Walk and thought I'd check you out. I bought my first new car in 1969, a Liberty Blue GTO, but like you said most people were not aware of the T-37 and I was one. Thanks I enjoyed your show, and I'll be back.
Yep! I had a '71 GT 37. It was ordered as a 2 door coupe, but along the way the dealer called to say I had to upgrade to the hard top. The coupe apparently had swing out vent windows which interfered with the sport mirrors. They dropped the coupe model. So I ponied up for the hard top. Very few options on my car, but I especially loved my Formula steering wheel. Beneficial as I am 6'3" tall and long leg. The 350 2bbl was adequate, but the car appearance was hot. I was challenged to race on the drive home from the dealer by a Road Runner. I wisely declined.
My Uncle Tommy had a Gold one T-37. He Drove it his work and back only. He was a Over road Truck driver. He had it FOR YEARS! They had a Pontiac Station wagon He drove when home with 5 kids. Never knew what he did with it! His was a 2-Door hardtop 350 v-8. I loved it because it was all gold interior!
In high school (Class of '77 -- The Double Naturals) I owned a '72 LeMans Hard Top with the 350 2bbl. I loved it! Girls loved riding in it too! Like me, it had plenty of Mojo!
As an aside, I saw a brochure for the 1972 Pontiac LeMans featuring the G.T.O. and if you ordered the 455 you could get the optional Transistorized Ignition…
I had a 75 Pontiac Formula 400 smog exempt Ram Air, super T10 4 speed transmission 3.23 gears, factory exempt AC, radio, changed cam to higher lift longer duration, and overlap, I miss the car, it was stolen from me, in California.
I sold these cars, brand new, back in the day, in Milwaukee. The T37 was kind of a tweener car. It was a stripped down A body that people just really had no interest in buying. I don't believe that I ever saw a GT37 in the dealership. The dealer that I worked at was the largest Pontiac dealer in Wisconsin. Most performance buyers wanted to own a GTO, or at the very least, a fully loaded LeMans with the 350 V8. Also in the picture for the performance buyer were the numerous styles of Firebirds. So as you can see, there wasn't really a hot spot for the T37. Therefore, I agree that a true T37, in today's collector world, would be a rare piece indeed.
Great watch..... Got a real silly question; at 3:06 is that the front turn signal/parking light hanging from its wire ?????? Thanks to "If This Car Could Talk for helping to keep automotive history alive.

My parents had a sierra yellow '70 Pontiac LeMans. It had the Pontiac 350 2bbl withTH350 and it was an AC car. Had power steering but non power 4 wheel drum brakes.
And they had (tractive force ).I had a 1971 4 door cat with a post and 455 4bbl high flow exhaust from factory 3.42 posi 12 bolt .The tractive force was from the owners manuel ,they went thru all these comparisions from high comp. To the 1971 reg.fuel low comp. engines and graphs comparing net to gross hp.The catalina ROCKED it was not that heavy and had somuch power
Though I don’t have any pictures to prove my comment, I did have a friend who bought a GT37 and it had the body colored urethane front bumper also used on the GTO. Did your research come up with that optional look?
No, didn't see that but don't doubt it. Things happen along the way. We've seen cars that "didn't have this or that" that came from the factory that way. Bet it was a cool ride! Thanks for sharing!
Nice work my man! The Heavy Chevy of Pontiac. I'll spread the word about your channel...I.T.C.C.T. !
Thanks for the compliment and spreading the word! Glad you enjoyed it and hope you find more to like here!

I had a '71 T-37 back in the early '80's. It had the 350 2 bbl. I was not even aware there was a GT-37. Thanks for the memories! 👍
Thank you!

Wow, sound like a very cool ride! Thanks for sharing your memories!
One of the reasons Pontiac came out with the GT-37 was to get around the skyrocketing insurance rates for the GTO, especially for young, male buyers!
I remember those. They made some cool cars back then...
Thanks for watching - keep it up!

Delco transistorised ignition was even offered on the 1965 Pontiac 2+2 and GTO models.

@@IfThisCarCouldTalkthat was an very ugly addition
There was an article back in 1968 about the new T-37 with a timing belt, not a chain. This was a first for US manufacturers.
Interesting! Thanks for watching and sharing your comment!
I had a 71 T37 hardtop with a 455 2bbl PowerGlide trans and hood clips (yes factory, they were even in the owners manual).

I watched it again and yes it looks like the light socket for the 192 bulb 💡 side marker light 😅
You have a great eye Mike! I never noticed that! LOL! Oops.
I missed it too! You think the owner or photographer would have noticed that. LOL!
@@IfThisCarCouldTalk Well, this lets you know that when I watch your videos that I "Really Watch" the video..... lol
