Too less knowledge about Germany, It's not because of education quality, more international students go to canada. It's because language barrier , also easy PR. Germany international students signifying quality over quantity.

My 2 cents after living in Germany for 4 years.
Rents are not low in Germany. They are very high.
Language is huge barrier. If you don't know the language forget about making friends. You don't feel like home until you learn and understand others. German is very hard to learn.
Groceries are also expensive in Germany. I don't know how much it costs in Canada. Fuel is super expensive in Germany. You have to pay lot more in Germany.
Public transport is expensive. One day ticket is around 8€. Unless if your living in the middle of the city.
Half of the salary goes to paying rent and then you have health insurance and other insurance and yeah every month we need to pay for radio which is mandatory for everybody. I just want to share this info so that you will know the facts. Thanks for the video. Great effort.

I just wanted to add, after conversion, 52k CAD -22% tax leaves you with 28k CAD and 40k EUR - let's take 40% as the middle ground leaves you with 24k eur. So roughly the same spread out over the year. The only real advantage I see here is that english is obviously more common than german and the overall culture in CA is more open towards foreigners.

I was born in Canada. It used to be a better country, a much better country. I live in Vancouver, which is the most highly unequal city in all of Canada. Real estate and rents have gone crazy while wages have not moved for about 40 years. Unions were destroyed just like the US destroyed unions. People look a lot more stressed out, alienated from each other and unhappy as compared to before. This is what inequality does. Germany is a lot more progressive than Canada. I think in terms GDP Canada is second to last in terms of government spending social spending for an OECD country. Conservative politicians did a lot of damage to our healthcare system by pushing austerity and cutting taxes for the rich and corporations. Unless you have a high-paying job lined up in Canada, I would not move here. If you’re married and you come here both of you will have to work and it’s still gonna be difficult to make ends meet. One Russian who immigrated said he is disappointed living here because he’s a software engineer and makes $100,000 per year and at the end of the they $400 left over after rent and other expenses. That means no chance of saving for retirement, vacations, a house or an apartment. If something goes wrong like having car repairs $400 is not gonna go very far. If you’re going to come here, stay away from Toronto and Vancouver. Rent and real estate costs are extremely expensive.

In Germany, retirement age is 67. Perhaps one of the oldest. So all those benefits anyone pays, no one is sure will they ever get back as pensions. Also jobless contributions (arbeitslosgeld) is only paid till 1 year, after that you get other benefits only if eligible. Many people actually never end up not utilizing their job less benefits whole of their life. Basically, employees pay for the Government for free.

Buying property is cheaper in canada? Depends on the location. Here in ontario esp in toronto you need to have a household income of $200k to be able to buy a house...well not a house but a 1-2 bedroom condo for that matter because detached even semi detached houses cost a million or more. When we bought our semi detached house earlier this yr for almost $500k outside toronto, 5 months later theres no way to buy this amount for a small semi detached house like ours. Its getting really expensive even you go to the countryside the average price is more thabn 500k and far from toronto

Great Presentation. However a couple of points wrt to Canada (I moved here 20 yrs back). Health insurance: Not required as stated in video. Its free EXCEPT for certain things like vision, medicines and Dental. Even these are covered by a minimal health insurance of $100 per month for a couple. Most importantly if your earning is below a certain threshold, Govt funded schemes cover cost of medicines etc.
Cost of living - I think the $7000 per month quoted by you is on the higher side. I live in Vancouver (one of the costliest) and about $4000-5000 per month is VERY comfortable for a family of 2+2.
