  • Spiritual art is interesting to look at for multiple reasons. Just to look at the artwork, or to see if it relates to you and your relation to spirituality. Even more interesting is this when it is abstract spiritual art. This video is inspired by the exhibition catalogue The Spiritual in Art, abstract Paintings 1890 - 1985. Painting spiritual art is also very rewarding. By making spiritual paintings you can learn how to express yourself on this subject. The spiritual artwork that you make can be shown to others what can lead to interesting conversations concerning the spiritual in art. In this video I show spiritual contemporary art and also spiritual modern art which relates to the paintings I make show spiritual painting ideas or creative spirituality.

Just to let you know, I taught art in the public schools in northern California for 30 years. Yet, I enjoy watching your program, because there is still so much more to learn about art. You inspire me in every video.

I too thought of af Klint. Another artist that comes to mind is Rothko. Another that may have been influenced by Klint is Stephen Mueller. Either way which ever way one wishes to portray spirituality as art is an individual choice.

Hi Culture Fan, thanks. I like the idea of painting the unseen, which ever thing one thinks of by that word. Be it religious, spiritual, emotions or whatever, preferably abstract. Creating is this way is personal and I love it for that reason. Have a nice week, Albert

@@ImperfectPaintings I watched it again so I would remember what to say. The whole thing with your narration was heart lifting. I especially liked the black block painting where you started with a little tunnel, then found the way around it to connect with the essence of your creativity - if I am understanding it a little bit. I also liked how you used the white paint to increase the size of the tunnel. You could see through the white to the black underneath. I just liked how that looked. I watched the video you recommended, and found I liked yours better. Bedankt voor alles!

    • @ImperfectPaintings

Thanks, barbh1, for coming back on this. I watched the video as well. It was already a while ago. Yes, I liked the painting with the tunnel as well. I often get lost in going around in circles in my mind, and by visualization like this, overseeing the situation, I can see a way out. Of course, I thought about the video and what to show and tell in it beforehand. But when painting, other or new things pop up and often lift the whole to another level. Beyond my imagination. Only by actually starting to paint, things can come out into the light. This is the Do, Do, Doing-part I often talk about and what I wish for everyone. Just some paint on paper and magic can happen. Albert
