I’ve never been more inspired by some big business mogul until Yvon Chouinard. His values and principles really speaks to his actions😊 Definitely a living legend❤
Well done Yvon, live and die in the saddle I totally respect that as somebody who is starting their own company that is how I feel about it as well and I am looking at your ideals to help mold the type of company I want to create, thank you for your philosophies and leadership paving the way for the future new earth.
Chouinard is right, it's in culture (specifically the the consumers' culture) that power lies to drive positive change. So ask yourself, is our culture healthy and sufficiently dynamic to move us forward? Is our culture created by bottom up awareness (expanding consciousness) or mandated top down by an out of touch clique that after gazing at itself in the mirror far too long seems to have lost faith in humanity? We need a few billion more Chouinards.
I have a pair of Baggies shorts, that I’ve had since I was 26, I’m 55 now and still wear them most of the summer, had adventures in them and love them! Patagonia last as long as you want it to, I’ve got 3 Capilene tops from the 90’s and I wear them most f the winter in the UK. Most of the clothes I buy these days days are Patagonia….i believe in live simple..but buy once, buy the best and hang on to it!
During and post -COVID pandemic, the uncertainty people sensed gave away to more excuses to accept lower quality in the products they made. This I experienced in the supply chains which supported the computer industry. The company I currently work for is losing money daily because of the management forgoing product quality standards. Sad but true. A few of us are trying to turn the quality issues around, encouraging ourselves to not give up.
I can't respect anyone who talks about protecting environment and then outsources its manufacturing in Asian countries, puts their logo on it, and then prices its products 10x for the bigger profit. How is even possible to have over 100 million dollars in profit of a billion dolar revenue if you are environmentally aware? You should serve if you claim that you love what you do, and not rake in big profits. Many people love what they do and none of them are millioners, let alone billioners.
