It's actually really easy for us brazilian to understand spanish both spoken and written, which is something I find really crazy. We can actually have a deep conversation and understand each other if we write or speak slowly. I'm talking about portuguese speaker and spanish speaker. We can understand a little bit of italian if they speak slowly or write as well. And we can understand just a little bit of written french. I would say it's almost impossible to understand what they say in french without studying it.

Grazie Lucrezia! I could pronounce the Italian phrases easily since they are similar to Spanish words, and I grew up with Spanish tongue. Not just that, I played the entire Ezio trilogy from Assassin’s Creed, which was mostly set in Italy.

Having English as my first language it can be difficult to learn a different language for every country you go to, then when you know a little bit of several different languages and you get a bit stressed you find your self saying thank you in Spanish to a Greek person. :)
