Oh wow, this was made almost 3 years ago! Just to let you know your bit by bits are still helping me out! For a long time, I stayed away from this mod just because I thought it wasn't worth getting into, you proved me wrong! I will be playing around with this in the future!
For flavor I would say that the proximity of the sun distorts the ability of marble materials to collect starlight because of the concentration of the sun's radiation--the spectrum of photons is far too wide and far too dense to be properly absorbed. Or something like that.
Well, actually my theory is like this, the luminous crafting table needs a resonance in the electro-magnetic field(technically the field in which photons live),and the sun despite having a wide spectrum of wave lengths, but can't create a resonance, but all the distance stars which all run a ray to our planet could create a resonance and thus, the luminous crafting table will work with an amplified ray of photons on very high energies
Just a heads up, you can run a Ender IO Fluid Conduit (or possibly some other kind of fluid transfer pipe) from a partially full Light Well to a tank or drum or other fluid storage and thus store the partial buckets of Liquid Starlight that way. If you are running several Light Wells at once the partial buckets can add up fast.
I must have accidentally built in a real great place, I never had any trouble making a spyglass. I'll have to check next time I start up the world, because I did not know there were special places with more starlight! But this is really great, I kind of jumped into this mod without learning the basics and I'd say I got decently far? Here's hoping your videos can get me unstuck!
Imagine if liquid starlight was used in brewing. It could be used with another ingredient to make potion of awareness, which would allow you to see mobs through walls and have particles above ores, like the rock crystal.
Note for people: adding the torcherino mod to this mod will do an ABYSMAL difference in the starlight gauge, i mean, Placing a torcherino next to the spectral relay will cause it to produce an exaggerated amount of star light, being that you can have the full star light meter even during the day.
You can use a linking tool to connect the temple crystal to your light wells and tables, I usually put a waystone or teleportation spot inside the temple and have lightwells set up for liquid starlight
Holy shit this mod is awesome... I just started with Thaumcraft 6 and put Astral Sorcery in aswell. It seems to be a good addition to a magic themed mod pack :D
Nice guide! The first Rock Crystal I used gave me like 2-3 buckets full of Starlight, the second one brought me 40 buckets lol, was not prepared for this haha, it's very random I suppose
Is it better to build a base and the multiblock alters on the starry dark areas you find with the resonator or build it so you can use the crystal in a large world gen temple?
Could you check something for me? Is it possible, even if you didn't unlock the chapters in the book, to do things like make the ore with the starlight from the crystal? How far in would you need to get to be able to grind it to dust with the wheel, did that take an upgraded table? Could you make the crystal cluster without the book explaining how if you found starlight in the world in liquid form? In short, can you sequence break this mod?
A grindstone and constellations? Hmmm, what’s next? A skill tree and spell system. I would call it Skorcery Or Skyrim Sorcery for short. Btw I’m gonna add this mod to my 1.12.2 game very soon, it’s very cool, and interesting. Also I have a very technical friend who’d probably love to recommend this to his modded server buddies. also could mods that affect the duration of night affect this mod?
I covered all the chapters. I have 2 Astral playlists. One older and one more recent. I have another planned for 1.15+ but the dev told me to hold off until he has more of the big changes complete.
Congratulations. This is at the level of professional lecturers. Your stuff is the best I've seen.
For real I’ve been struggling to figure this mod out and this dude taught me everything I needed to know

Your tutorials are how I've begun with almost all of the mods I play, thank you!
If it's basing its power off of starlight, it should be wicked strong in the middle of the day.
+Tooltip Tinkerer the sun is too bright a source. Mod author decided to skip it in favor of a more distant starlight effect.

Also in theory, minecraft being a fantasy-ish setting, and this mod being especially fantasy based, the Sun doesnt have to be a star. Just saying.

I love the way you explain these mods. Your vids have helped me so much! Thank you :)

You are a saviour. Just started playing a modpack with this mod, and I had no idea what to do or where to begin. These tutorials are fantastic!

This is why I only use it for testing purposes. Pair this with any mod that has time consuming activities and it’s already too OP to be so cheap.
This mod is awesome, and I really want to get good at it, so I thank you for the tutorials ^^

in my Enigmatica 2 expert server I found a harbor village that had enough starlight in the nearby grass area to max out the crafting table's starlight
lol i just made a new server with astral sorcery and i spawned about 50 blocks away from a big temple!
Holy shit this mod is awesome... I just started with Thaumcraft 6 and put Astral Sorcery in aswell. It seems to be a good addition to a magic themed mod pack :D
Starlight: *running low*
Me: *has 2 buckets of starlight*
Also me: *creates infinite starlight source*
If only that actually worked lol
nice try, kid.
Ebbs and flows sounds like it’s the force 🤣
Nice guide!

+The Visitor Yep. Try focusing a collector crystal on the lightwell at the same time. ;)
Liked the old graphic of the table with the tilted satellites better
does the sky wave resonator actually still exist in direwolf 20?
Don't forget to mention the double click to zoom into chapter very quickly.
In regards to the lightwell, it seems as though the power of starlight in the area affects the amount of liquid you will receive.
I got 3 buckets from one aquamarine.
Have the lightwell calculations been changed? I've had a single aquamarine give 6 buckets, and another give 4.
Does the Astral Sorcery stuff still count as having sky access if you have a glass roof, or does it have to be completely open?
What key did you push @2:08 to insert the recipe to the astral grid?
It was an edit
Mischief of Mice well done, totally tricked me 😝. Thanks for the response and your guides!
Somehow i got 11 buckets of star light from two lightwells of aquamarines. Whaaat?
Binge watching this now since it has been released in the 1.16.4
This is old for 1.12. Try the new series I'm doing for 1.15 & 1.16
@@MischiefofMice oh, I haven't seen that. Was there that much of a difference between the versions?
It's worth making new vids so I'd say yes
It says in the book that too many spectral relays will make dissapointing results.
What's the maximum number?
+phlaxyr I would go with 4 and at most 6 but it all depends on your starlight needs. 2 usually does it for me.

Late but mods don't tend to lock recipes behind book progression the ones that do have a pretty clear "checkmark" type system like thaumcraft
can you do a tutorial on magic kingdoms mod
16:52
It even works underwater!
A grindstone and constellations?
Hmmm, what’s next? A skill tree and spell system.
I would call it Skorcery
Or Skyrim Sorcery for short.

also could mods that affect the duration of night affect this mod?
Yes. Shorter/longer night means less/more time with starlight in earl game.
hey what is the texture pack that you use for the mod that makes the crystals look like they do? for me, the crystals look much more square.
It's called an earlier version. xD
Mischief of Mice oof thanks a lot though
I drew the discidia thing but it wouldnt show up as an achivement
+Le Annie Did you find and look ar a Discidia constellation paper first?
can I make an infinity starlight liquid source? the same way you do with water?
you can try...
are there going to be more parts?
I covered all the chapters. I have 2 Astral playlists. One older and one more recent. I have another planned for 1.15+ but the dev told me to hold off until he has more of the big changes complete.
Why I can’t learn any consolation except for 5 consolation but rest of it I can’t learn it
You need to get attuned and use something better than a spyglass.
Wait I don't have Exploration
Does the cave illuminator work in other dimensions?
It needs access to overworld sky last i knew
wish we didnt have to wait a whole week for another update
+Sheldon Venter Me too
You should notice me I'm not your biggest fan (but still like your videos A LOT!)
+Yanatsaru anaritsu Noticed.
