Don’t forget cf Moto Chinese crap motorcycles that are lame as hell.
@@godzeus9702cfmoto has some of the coolest stylistic bikes rn. Papio SS, 450ss, and the new 500 looks amazing
bike sales are rising every year where I live, and we can only ride bikes 6months a year...
Talk to anybody that owns one, 90% of the time they love them. As you get older, you will care less about performance and more about the ride. If you just want to be out on a casual care free ride DCTs fit that perfectly. and they are really nice in traffic from what I have been told. Additionally, Manufacturers spend a fortune on market research. They RARELY make stuff that may not have a demand. In these new models, its pretty obvious, they think the demand is there.
How LAZY do you have to be, to buy a new motorcycle and not want to SHIFT IT yourself.
I've been riding since 1966, and have recently developed periferal neuropathy in both feet. Without the option of an auto, I would not be able to continue riding, hence my change from MT09 SP, to the Honda NC750X DCT. The DCT is a fantastic system, and the more manufacturers that enter the market the better, as far as I am concerned.
@@SimonRiley752who hurt you Simon? It’s okay buddy.
In Your case automatic gear have some sense but...With your issue do Yuo think, people need automatic gearbox in hardcore ADV motorcycle? Dont think so...
@@thombike3742 Its not a matter of need its a matter of want. For manufacturers, they have determined that there is indeed a want for this and it hurts nobody by bringing them to the public. To complain about more options makes zero sense.
i agree, especially ones where you can manually change with a button when needed for the best of both worlds
Does the NC750x have linked front/rear brakes to the lever?
This Hornet is looking awfully close to the Streetfighter
Speaking of why has it not been released yet
More z1000 then streetfighter
Still better than the rest of hondas bland lineup 🤣
Honda still slow and bland at that point just buy a Ducati.
@@godzeus9702 a lot cheaper tho
I’m just waiting for the R9
+1
I know, I can't wait any longer! We might see the RC990 on showroom floors before it lol.
It’s going to be a MT09 lame just buy the R1 since all manufacturers are becoming gay asf. R7 is not a super sport and as well the R9 is not a super sport.
@@godzeus9702 You clearly haven't ridden a properly tuned MT09. My XSR900 was destroying literbikes off the line. Sure it tapers off in the 100+ mph range lol but that torque is desirable in canyons and tight tracks. My local track is too small to ring out an R1 and you'll barely ever make it out of 2nd gear. Also insurance costs and maintenance are lower.
@@godzeus9702 this is a pretty stupid comment, I won’t even begin to argue, have a nice day
As a motorcycle enthusiast going back to 1964. I can remember when a 305cc Honda was a big bike.In ten years someone looking at one of those motorcycles with the wing
lets broken off and saying what were they thinking about?
The CFMOTO 500SR Voom's design reminds me of the '80s Suzuki GSX-R750.
My wallet is happy that I have no interest in any of these.
Hornet 1000 looks really generic and forgettable
Honda nowadays are just taking it safe, which is a shame.
Dear Honda, it is time for a new VFR 800-1000. We have waiting for so damn long.
Owned a 2003 VFR800.. two stators went South, but the bike was awesome overall.. wasn't the fastest, best handling, etc.. but it did all of it better than any other bike I've owned or ridden. I'll put money down as soon as a new one is released!
Bring back the RC51 but modernize it!
Nope. New VFR800-1000 would be useless on a modern market: too expensive and heavy vs. it's competitors - just like the last VFR800F was 10 years ago. New VFR1300-1400F would also proably fail on the market because sport tourers are unpopular nowadays. New VFR1300-1400X Crosstourer, on the other hand, are very much needed. Adventure bikes are the hottest class of motorcycles nowadays, selling like crazy. But for some inadequate reason Japanese manufacturers are totally ignoring top segment of adventure bikes in recent years. This needs to be changed ASAP.
@@Rex_Payne man there are plenty of road biased enduros in the market including multistrada v4. tbh i don't think the market is in need of another one. on the other hand there is no everyday use modern v4 sportstourer that we need desperately.
no. Honda needs to give us a new CB400SF.
Based on the recent success of the CFMOTO 450 mt, I look forward to Aprilia presenting the Tuareg 457 based on their recent sportbike, the Aprilia 457 rs
If Aprilia can get the weight on the Tuareg 457 below 400lbs that might be a good bike.
All looked too complicated.
Probably the CF Moto was the only common sense bike there.
complicated and weight a ton
I agree
Not if you are Ukrainian!
Yep, marketing crap. Who really needs 1300cc.
@@podunkman2709 I do
Bobby trying super hard to convince us these bikes are exiting :D
Automatic and exciting don’t go along in the same sentence.
While they are at it. Might as well add wheel assist on both side of the rear wheel to prevent rider to fall over at stop.light, and integrated with Google Map to prevent rider from going 5+ miles above the speed limit.
I just can't imagine why Honda don't produce a retro version around the 750 twin engine. I would love to see a GB750 emerge that follows the styling cues from the old CB750 of the 1970's.
Regarding the new rise of AMT / e-clutch, it kinda feels like manufacturers are trying to prepare us for electric motorcycles...
Also known as the death of motorcycling.
Exactly what I was thinking
I know they are not. Why would they develop an expensive technology just a transition to electric. People get bored and want fancy gadgets and that’s what sells nothing more nothing less they have to keep one upping other manufacturers.
Motorcycling has become like Harley riders very gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Why do TH-camrs keep pushing Chinese made motorcycles like CF Moto
CFMOTO was founded in 1989 in Hangzhou, China. Hangzhou is considered one of the Zhejiang province’s major tech centers and startup hubs, which has led them to become a multi-product manufacturer.
totally agree, and also the new gen, i dont know if they know how shift, there used to moppets
To me less complicated is better 😊
I've also seen rumors of a Triumph 660 rally being announced this year for release in 25. Not everyone wants some giant 1200cc monster of a bike they can't even pick up without help.
I hope they will do something with 660. It looks ugly and toy now.
@@podunkman2709 The Daytona 660 has curves. You know..... like all motorcycles had in the 1990's and 2000's, before the trend went pointy, insect, industrial, alien, creases and seams and stuff that looks like it would slice you open if you brushed up against it.
The ONLY auto transmission l want on a motorcycle it's an auto blipper 2 way quick shifter.
All else are too expensive to repair and complicated to trouble shoot in the case of the DCT variety going by my experience with cars and for the KTM and BMW ones you'll probably will be fudged if you dont have the special factory tools and software to troubleshoot it.
Was waiting for the 1000 Hornet to release so that I could get a good deal on the CB1000R. Gutted.
A highly inflammable lithium iron battery located in the centre of a fuel tank ? What could possibly go wrong ?
It's probably a similar level of risk to a fuel tank perched on top of a set of ignition coils, which in turn is perched on top of a device that keeps several thousand explosions per minute contained🤔
@@motosnapeexcept I haven't yet heard of a non battery having car (or motorcycle) having a recall or "safety" anything telling owners to park outside and away from structures due to suddenly catching on fire
Yeah because gasoline isn't flammable
If you are going out in a ball of fire, might as well make it as impressive as possible!
@@eggnog52 It's largely not, until it converts to a vapor. All a battery has to do is have a bunch of energy jump from the cathode to the anode through a "leak" in the electrolyte, and suddenly intense heat happens and a runaway battery burn begins, which half the Pacific Ocean cannot quench. Why? any good Boy Scouts training says you need heat, fuel, and oxygen to have fire. Turns out a lithium battery generates its own fire ingredients when it burns, thereby typical fire extinguishing methods being totally ineffective.
I get the auto gearbox trend but lighter less powerful bikes would also be a good move, especially when there's an off road ambition
I hope the CF Moto I4 isn't powered down to meet A2 rules in Europe (incl UK!!)
they'd be stupid if they did not... from a money perspective
If they do, give us a way to power it up to where it should be
Hopefully a Yamaha Tmax with a CP2 engine in the near future 🙏
Why isn’t there a Tenere 900//T9? It would be nice have to an adventure version of the Tracer 9 GT.
Quite like the sound of auto my self 😊
I don’t care what all the grumpy purists say, I’d personally love to cruise around on an automatic MT-07 or R7 and just enjoy the ride and the day and the experience and the people.
The reason for automatic motorcycles is definitely emissions related. They probably need to pass regulations and most people would use the manual option but eventually will love the automatic mode.
I just want a 690 with a twin engine and a real ABS off button on the bars, is that too much to ask?
Really was hoping we would get a retro Honda GB750 😞
I've not gone down through all the comments on this page (I may never live that long); If you look at the BMW Motorrad configurator you can clearly select the optional auto shift assist ASA for the R1300GS (pre-GSA); I can vouch for that because I ordered one just the other week. Note it is scheduled for build in August and will be a MY25 variant.
I ❤ NAKED and SPORTS motorcycles..
Which motorcycle segment you ❤ .... ?? ??
Naked
Sports,
Cruisers,
ADV/Off-road,
Sport-tourer
Which one is your FAVOURITE ❤ type motorcycle ??
... Guys 😊👍🏻
Just install a reklus clutch and save a ton of money. Got one on my drz400s, game changer. 20k miles later still works perfectly
I hate that Honda stopped the neo retro styling. The CV lineup looked so amazing and I was looking to get a cb 650 or 1000 once my 06 hornet pc36 can't anymore
Do you think these companies are cooking aV4 engine Mr Bob? Coz that's the trend to follow if they want to compete with the 200HP bikes. I'd love to see KTM making one and name it THE MONSTER.
KTM will first have to jump the hurdle of putting a 1390 motor in the 990R chassis like they did pre 2013
RC4R?
More power and a sprinkling of modern electronic rider aids was all the RC8R was crying out for before KTM pulled the plug.
@@pauln6803 Yeah but not for street legal mass production like Panigale and RSV4
Automatic transmission on tourers makes perfect sense for long journeys. However, sports bikes and adventure bikes definitely need more gear control. So I do think that if they keep those types of bikes with automatics that would make more sense
hybrid moto, auto gearbox... also radar cruise and hill assist and laptop dash of is mandatory))
Ducati might have something up their sleeve for 2024 as well.... ?
I'm waiting on the Kove 800 rally
Cf moto is actually putting some really good bikes in market at a really competitive price
I honestly love their bikes and I think if they get enough exposure they might be a big name
As far as I see their bikes produce respectable numbers
Been listening to the podcast as well as this lately...great content!
wouldnt that be 2025? automatic transmission isn't in high demand. They are simply going to put it on bikes and make you pay more when you buy the bike. You simply wont have a say.
That 500 i4 might be the first cfmoto I actually look at.
Note to motorcycle manufacturers:
STOP MAKING EVERY SIMPLE MECHANICAL DEVICE INTO RIDICULOUSLY COMPLEX, EXPENSIVE, COMPUTER OPERATED SYSTEMS. MOTORCYCLES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DIFFICULT TO LEARN, OPERATE, AND ACHIEVE SKILL. That's the whole point!! STOP DUMBING THIS DOWN.
Are motorcycles going the way of farm machinery? No motorcycle customer has any right to repair a machine that breaks, and no operative component on the motorcycle, when replaced, will allow the engine to run without a dealership "reconfirming via proprietary dealership software" the repair is compatible with the ECU? I can see it happening. I can see handlebars, suspension, signals, lights, all display settings, seat latch release, fuel cap release, chain tensioner, new tires, oil filters, braking systems, transmission systems all being connected to the ECU and operated by the ECU until the rider no longer can ride a motorcycle unless they fulfill all the STUPID BUREAUCRATIC and SOCIAL REQUIREMENTS, and pay enormous fees.
The greatest pleasure in motorcycling for me has always been rider involvement. It is, or was, a raw driving experience, everything you do affects how the bike behaves unlike the sanitised and mind numbing feeling of driving a modern car. Manufacturers don’t get that we like changing gear not the plethora of other things that are now being done for us on an increasing scale. I don’t speak fir everyone obviously, but I want to ride my motorcycle not merely be a passenger on it.
New blackbird inline 4 please!!!!, it’s time!!!
Honda be snoozin. Except for their exciting, buzzing, super awesome, amazing...... 125cc bikes. 😴
Any news or speculation on the 2025 Triumph speed twin 1200?
Is the race to the top with bigger and more capable bikes a fight for a bigger share of a declining market rather than looking to grow the market at the bottom end for the future (although maybe excluding Triumph 400s and RE from the that)?
Tenere, maybe bigger motor and some needed updates. BMW R Nine GS. I've used Honda"s DCT on my 2006 Rincon 650/715 ATV. Fast as you can push the button or let it shift itself. No issues in 19 years.
I think an automatic makes sense for people who are doing a lot of commuting in heavy traffic, and it definitely lowers the barrier to entry for newer/ physically impaired riders, but for slow speed maneuvering I don’t see how you could replace a clutch.
I agree. But I ride a Dct everyday for commuting. And it does pretty good at low speed
Still no R9???
Yeahhhhh! I see "new bikes" in the title, I click on the like button! No second thoughts ❤
You gotta love the character and performance of KTM. But man if they could on reliability instead. So fed up I tossed my 1290 Superduke GT for a Tiger 1200...
My RC8R hasn't been bad over the 10 years of ownership.
Not truly spotless, but no catastrophic failures or complicated and never ending electrical issues like the newer bikes seem to suffer.
I had a twitch for a 690 SMC, but the dealership attitude alone has put me off.
@@pauln6803 that's another of their problems. I don't think there is any quality control on their dealers either...
Excuse me but what are you talking about the T7? is clearly the same bike, same headlight, etc. Just a cover on it, but the same base is there
Looking forward to the R9 😂. Seriously though, the Hornet if it comes to fruition should be good and the manufacturers making motorcycling easier/more accessible too i.e. Auto/DCT/AMT etc.
I am waiting for a lower CC E-Clutch/DCT type of motorcyles... Im tired of looking at the same looking automatic scooters around my area
Aprilia ra660 is the perfect motorcycle for 10 grand. Bilateral quick shifter. Beautiful engine. Tech and dash from 1000. Tons of technology❤
What KTM really needed was more power.
😅
It's already got as much engine displacement in TWO CYLINDERS, and the former Kawasaki Concours 14 had in ALL FOUR.
You guys think an R1/R1M refresh is coming? hopefully with a new Dash and Gen 3 Ohlins?
CF Moto is the one i'm looking to upgrade too. either zoom or the 675SR-R and hopefully the price remain wallet friendly.
Could the Rally styled big KTM be the new 990ADV R?
I gave a zoom on the covers close to the front break and there was written 990
Yeah I've changed my mind on the ever increasing of amount of torque. I bought a 2022 Heritage with a 114 motor and was riding it around town the other day. It has a lot of torque and that much torque just isn't that great for cruising around town. It doesn't have any kind of modes such as rain mode for a little less torque. If you don't use a lot of caution on the throttle you will be rocketed way too fast on city streets. I was thinking I would have been happier with a 107 instead. Yes that is still a bit punchy but probably not as much. It would still provide plenty of power on the interstates. This 114 along with the lighter weight of the Heritage makes it a true hot rod. If anyone, who has driven a hopped up car with a bigger cam, around town you know what I mean. These tip of motors are happier being pushed hard, not piddling from stop light to stop light. Bike manufacturers are trying to attract more riders with automatics while also increasing engine cc's. It just doesn't make since to me. I have just as much or more fun on my smaller 400 cc displacement bike. It is perfect around town and quit capable on the highways at 70 mph. The Heritage is a great, one bike owner in that it can do it all except off roading but mind that throttle hand around town with a 114.
Torque is not a bad thing, the issue is how torque and power are delivered.
The big KTM V LC8 engine is fantastic on the open road, but because it was designed as a sports engine with a huge bore and short piston stroke, it's inherently aggressive as it was designed to deliver as much power as possible, with the throttle mapping taming it enough to keep it sort of usable.
If an engine has a longer stroke, the delivery can be more easily tamed but still retain the flexibility of a big engine.
Power modes (changing the ignition and fuelling maps) offer the rider the choice between soft throttle response for low speed and more power and quicker response for more aggressive riding.
How about the 2025 Kawasaki Z1300?
Cheers bro. 🍻 🏍
I am fully interested in Honda's E-clutch system, paired with cruise control I would happily ride that anywhere, any time. My brief experience riding in city traffic is just not pleasant. If I just needed a country lane bike, I'd be perfectly happy with the standard fully manual arrangement.
Versys Hybrid could be interesting, but probably a top heavy elephant. Tenere TBW, some cosmetics, probably nothing else (come on...World Raid fuel tanks as stock).
Realistic -ish things I'd like to see: 1. Hope the new 390 Adventure doesn't fully suck, spy shots are just another dressed up Duke. 2. New 690 Enduro, ADV announcement would be awesome 3. Tiger 660 Rally? 4. Ducati 698 Mono Enduro? 5. BMW 310 GS is due for an update. 6. KTM 490 ADV announced, 450MT with rally tanks, TBW with full suite (Demo Mode of course...) 7. Tuono and Tuareg 457
I'd like to see a slightly more road biased Tenere, with 19" front, tubeless rims and powerful brakes.
Bikes have been shrinking for two decades, give us tall riders something with Japanese reliability and backup that isn't overly compromised by the daft idea that these adventure bikes are spending most of their time off road.
Radial calipers allow the swapping of different diameter discs with a simple spacer, so why not offer two versions that have interchangeable parts according to what the primary use is?
KTM figured this out long ago with their 690 enduro and supermoto models.
Automatics are easier to have adaptive cruise control work plus I imagine means they can add in further controls on speed and acceleratrion etc which will no doubt be needed when the EU speed restriction and safety laws get extended to motorbikes.
I agree. An automatic motorcycle is about as absurd as an Automatic WRX.
Is there a reason you rarely mention the Aprilia competitors in the mark segments ? The Aprilia 660 platform is a direct competitor to the R7 and T7. Just wondering.
@@SimonRiley752 great argument without any concrete evidence to claim this comment.
@@jls.mp4 Aprillia is kinda known for being the least reliable brand-new motorcycles.
Any inside info about a bmw f900r update? Platform is from 2019 so some updates on the platform should come for next year.
I'd have that 500 Voom alongside my 500 Hornet commuter if reviews are good. I was looking at a CFMoto this time but residuals will be a worry for years yet.
Surprised KTM 390 Enduro & Yamaha R9 havn't made the list
Another great video, can't wait for KTMs new Duke GT 1390 OR 1400 😊❤❤
Some of the interest in the new automatic transmission motorcycles derives from the current (under 40) generation, most of whom never learned to drive a standard transmission auto. This translates to motorcycles, thus the demand for automated shift motorcycles.
Honda need a shaft drive adv bike to rival the Tiger 1200 and BMW 1300GS
Definitely dont think DCT is for current riders, I think its a way to get people into bikes. ESpecially with the E-bike boom right now.
That CFMoto 500 four looks interesting
I am for the Honda CL500 (again) 😇
I've had 2 bikes with DCT. An XADV and a NT1100. DCT has added substantially to the motorcycle riding options and enjoyment. I'll never return to a conventional manual gearbox. Very happy to see not just Honda but so many other manufacturers developing some form of automatic clutch control and gear changes.
The new 1300 gs will be comfortable in my garage...
8:50 maybe bore up to 699cc or more
Kawasaki’s hybrid fuel tank surrounding the lithium battery could become a problem if that battery decides to ignite or blow up.
Doesn't stop the World Economic Forum telling global manufacturers that they MUST create complicated junk with batteries, or else.
I think Honda loses out with a mild naked. Slap a wild v4 in there and watch it sell. I’m excited to see the new super adventures. Love mine. But I’d like to see a 1300 tenerre.
The CFMoto 500SR Voom is such a tease, showing us the coolest bike in a decade and it's mainland china only. Considering the absurd dealer markups on ZX4rs, CFMoto could probably eat Kawasakis lunch on that bike at the same price point just by making sure it stays at msrp.
I like the look of the Yamaha r7... Beautiful
The r12 gs is gonna be an amazing bike.
Have you time travelled?
After using manual shifters for over fifty years on bikes, I’m a reluctant convert to an “automatic” DCT. My opinion is not to compare it to paddle shifters or automatic transmissions in cars. It took me a full season and 20 000 kilometers of on and off tarmac riding to appreciate DCT’s virtues. In fact, I hated the thing at first, thought it was a gimmick. Now, hopefully one of my bikes will always be equipped with a DCT or similar transmission. It’s an acquired taste that requires experience to use it to its full potential.
I wonder how people think about automatic-esc bikes, because i would 100% forgo and automatic transmission for cruise control
CFMOTO 500SR Looks incredible. Just needs a bigger engine and make it available in the UK
The reasons why Auto gearshift is a focus are simple….first, the tech is at the point where it works, second, not all buyers are enthusiasts, some buy for transport and as auto becomes way more popular in cars, so it will in bikes…and finally, the real reason… conditioning. In both cars and bikes, get us used to auto now ready for auto in electric. Conditioning.
You forgot about the new Ducati Superbike Panigale coming out later this year
would love if honda made a sports bike that rivaled the susuki gsxr 750 lol but the rs660 or the r9 will have to do for me for now
Kawasaki versys hybrid is the one I'm interested in seeing .
Isn't there any new rumours about a bigger adventurebike from Yamaha with the cp3 engine?
The market- “we’d like a Tenere 900 please”
Yamaha- “no, here’s a ruined 700 with an automatic gearbox”
No wonder the bike industry is dying.
Seen the Kawasaki hybrid doing a lap at this years TT ridden by Phillip mc callen. Think it was in the parade lap looked ok
Hybrid motorcycle: the stuff only the World Economic Forum called for.
Give the automatic transmission a traditional up-and-down left foot shifter and the riding experience will be 90% identical to that of a regular bike with a quickshifter, just with the option of automatic mode. I don't hear folks complaining about quickshifters "ruining" motorcycling 🤔
I don't ever use my quick shifter.
If it was about 100% street bikes I would mostly agree but when it is about adventure/enduro etc bikes not so much.
I most interested in the 1969 Triumph Bonneville, or, for that matter, ANY bike that's shadtree mechanic friendly
The hornet 1000 came 6 years to late. Can't compete with the current lineup naked bikes.
Larger fuel capacity and cruise control is all I want from my 2021 Tenere..
17L is all I want for the MT-09. And for the 4th design change, they still didn't do it.
Kawasaki clearly getting ready for euro 100 compliance for 2026 😂
