    How much trimming did you have to do? Just plastics or did you have to trim any metal from the frame or bumper?

    • @avgdadgarage1982

      Plastic only. It’s all about the offset of the wheel. +18 or + 20 minimum trimming

    How do they do in the sand? I’ve had to switch to all terrains because the nitto mud terrain tires would just sink my ram 2500 in the sand if I had to turn or pull someone out of a hole. The all terrains won’t get stuck in the sand at all. These look more aggressive than an all terrain which makes me wonder how they’ll do in the sand.

    • @avgdadgarage1982
      @avgdadgarage1982  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have only been in moderate sand and they did fine but it wasn’t much. Have a trip to pismo planned in Nov where it will be tested/loaded trailer through about 3-4mi of beach/sand so I will let you know. I’m surprised your Nitto M/T’s did so poorly... were you aired down?? Typically any tire will do ok when aired down in sand.. unless you don’t have much sidewall..

    • @avgdadgarage1982

      You probably have a negative offset pushing the wheel further out from the truck. Typically a 0 offset or positive won’t rub as bad. These are a +18

    Beautiful truck sir! I also have a 16 with Thuren 2” and want to run 37’s. Did you notice an mpg drop from 35-37? I run 110 miles a day and still get 18.5-19.5 hand calculated but with diesel prices the way they are, I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot going up in size. After two years, are you still happy with the nitto’s?

    I am buying new 3500 Ram single axle trucks.
    My problem is the ugly idiotic trailing arms (track bars) that tie the Front drive axle to the frame.
    Is there any aftermarket set up available?

    • @avgdadgarage1982
      @avgdadgarage1982  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you mean the radius arms up front, yes. Look at Carli. They make very nice set of boxed/fab’d front radius arms that look great and are notched for large tire clearance. They use a Johny joint for the bushing set that allows better free movement also. I think they are around 700$ can’t remember

    You shouldn't need anything besides a good TPMS programmer to take care of the tire pressure warning levels, by the way - can say for sure that an Autel TS508 worked on my 2014.

    Was that pinch seam area trimmed when you had 35s? Im in the air between the at2s and ridge grapplers for my ram 2500.

    • @avgdadgarage1982
      @avgdadgarage1982  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No trimming at all when I had 35’s. From my experience the offset/backspacing is what will determine how much trimming is required. There was zero rubbing
      at all with 35’s on these same wheels which are 18x9. +18 offset and 5.75” backspace. I have got these 37’s to rub a few times very lightly on control arm at full lock backing out of driveway. But that’s it .

    • @avgdadgarage1982
      @avgdadgarage1982  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if comparing the 2 tires. I would say Ridge grappler all day. The At2 sucked in snow. Ridge grappler is just barely louder and that is going from a 35 at2 to the 37 Ridge grappler. So 35’s probably even quieter

    Maybe an Impossible task but hes a question
    i just bought a '12 3500 longhorn i have 35x12.5 but the dealership threw the wheel and tire setup together and it rubs.
    They have a huge negative offset with not a lot of backspacing.
    the thing i am curious about, since i am already either going to have to change the wheels, or do some cutting.
    how much more cutting would be needed between a 35 and a 37? or would it just be impossible to tell until the tires are on?
    I can upload a video of it if someone who knows more about this stuff than i do would like.

    • @avgdadgarage1982
      @avgdadgarage1982  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With a different offset/wheel
      You would not have to do any trimming at all to run 35x12.5’s. That’s what I had on this truck before the 37’s. I don’t know what the wheel setup is that you have now but if 35’s rub 37’s are just gonna be worse. I know that my offset didn’t rub at all on 35’s so that would be my input if your trying to get rid of rubbing. Sell your wheels and buy a different wheel setup. +18mm with 5.75” backspace wheels will not rub at all with 35’s. Even on a stick height truck
