      Most of the rubbish were actually threw from ships in international waters around Singapore, and were floated into the shore of Singapore during high tide. That is something Singapore cannot enforce due to the fact it was done in international waters.
      Plus the fact that is one of busiest port in the world, therefore there are many ships coming & going in Singapore. It is something that Singapore have to endure and clean up beach regularly.
      As stated in the info on the video description, the regular clean up of the beach has stopped due to the presence of the young otter pup in the otter family.

    It was so sweet how every Otter in the group went to fetch him: even the other little Otters. And then he was completely supervised by the older ones as they went home.

      +8scatterbrain8 I know, its such a shame to see how humans decard all of those horrible plastic bottles and other garbage that float all over the place and find their way on to beaches. Lovely story though. I love otters and love the way that what I presume is the mother picked the baby up and took it with her.

    It so wonderful to see the reuniting of the otter family. Great work! The beach is so full of rubbish. Singapore need to educate the public. These trash, including some fish nets are traps to the wild life. While clean up is needed. More important is to prevent such poor behaviour.

      It's not all from local sources, that stuff circulates the planet.
      To think that in the 60s and 70s we thought aluminum foil and disposable glass drink bottles were the problem.

    • @prettynoose8497
      @prettynoose8497 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that trash may not even be from the residents of the island. It all floats, so it could be from anywhere

      And there are fines for littering in Singapore?

    • @engmaikia
      @engmaikia 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      think before you write. Much of the rubbish comes in with the tide, from surrounding islands. It is a regional and international problem, rubbish being thrown or washed into the sea.

    • @MsMesem
      @MsMesem 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      See my further response below. Singapore is a small and wealthy island. They can afford to look after the coastline better.

    • @EmilyRhinier
      @EmilyRhinier 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MsMesem I agree, just because it is washed up on shore doesn't mean that they should just leave it there. The city should be keeping it clean, for the people and animals who live there

    This video made me cry for many reasons. First for the little otter getting rescued by so many incredible, heart felt people, for the little otter finding it`s family and the joy and excitement being expressed by the otters....but also at the ton of plastic garbage and fishing net lines by the bundles seen on such a beautiful beach. PLEASE anyone living in that area, can you please get everyone cleaning this beach up!!!! Thank you, the otters thank you, the birds thank you and others thank you as well. Remember that we ALL have to live here, so do your children!

    Really love that you got this little guy home to his family. I, like most people are astounded with the trash and old fishing nets just laying on the beach. There needs to be an outcry in this part of the country to get it cleaned up. Any animal can get tangled in the old fishing nets and the plastic breaks down and the sea animals think it is food to eat. Please, the next step is to clean up your beach so you can be proud of it and keep the wildlife safe.

    I was thinking the same thing about the garbage on the beach as well. Great work in saving that little pup guys.
    We all need to look after this tiny planet more. This waste did not all come from only your country, waste drifts around the oceans and seas. We are all responsible for the worlds waste. Next time I'm at the beach, I will pick up any waste I find - so you won't need to pick it up from your beach.
