Celine's actually not that old! She's 56. She's just had a long career because she started at the age of 12.

@@carolhayar3037I’m not sure why people think she looks so old. I know many 50 year olds who look the same age, or even older. People (not you) criticize the way celebrities look and then criticize them when they get plastic surgery to make themselves look younger. It’s a tough business

@@ChrisTheAppleOne Regards Celine specifically was because someone (can't recall who) made a comment about it and what I see is someone who, due to the horrible condition & pain she has endured, has taken it's toll; certainly not meant as a criticism but to my eyes it has aged her somewhat more than if she didn't go through that condition. It's a brutal & unforgiving business -- a double edge sword - the need to sing or act & loving the limelight but the downside of what has to be endured can take an awful toll. Thanks.

I am a little older than Céline and so proud of my compatriot. We grew up in the 60s and 70s in Charlemagne and Repentigny. Our paternal homes were 2 km away and when she became famous in Quebec at 13, her parents and her sister Claudette were also very well publicized and we met them at the Nickel restaurant which belonged to her or at the shopping center. What a life path she had. I so often passed by the house where she grew up in the car with my parents at the time, without suspecting that behind the walls of this house was hiding a little girl who was going to become an international star. Here in Quebec we are very proud of her.

She's suffering from Stiff-Person-Syndrom - a neurological disease that can cause spasms in every part of the body lasting a minutes or even hours. Sometimes the spasms were so hard she had broken ribs. There is no cure for it only medication / physical therapy for managing it. I highly recommend to watch her documentary only then you fully understand why everyone is so in awe of this performance. She's 56 by the way.

Edith Piaf wrote " L' Hymne à L' Amour " after the death of the Love of her life in a plane crash .
I will give you the lyrics in French if you want to follow Céline's singing and the translation in English.
    CHANSON EDITH PIAF " L"HYMNE A L' AMOUR "
Le ciel bleu sur nous peut s'effondrer
Et la terre peut bien s'écrouler
Peu m'importe, si tu m'aimes Je me fous du monde entier
    Tant qu'l'amour inond'ra mes matins
    Mon amour, crois-tu qu'on s'aime ?
    Dieu réunit ceux qui s'aiment.......
EDITH PIAF SONG " HYMN TO LOVE "
The blue sky over us may well collapse
And the earth may well collapse
I don't care, if you love me
I don't care about the world
As long as love floods my mornings
As long as my body trembles under your hands
    I don't care about problems
My love, if you love me I'd go to the ends of the earth
I'd have my hair dyed blonde If you asked me
I'd go get the moon I'd steal your fortune If you asked me
I would deny my country I would deny my friends If you asked me
I'd be laughed at I would do anything If you asked me
If one day life rips you away from me If you die, if you're far from me
I don't care if you love me Because I would die too
We'll have eternity to ourselves In the blue of immensity
In the sky, no more problems
My love, do you think we love each other ?
God reunites those who love each other....
    ❤🧡💛💚💙💜❤💛💚💙💜❤

You are right about the silence in listening Celine Dion interpreting the" L' Hymne à l' Amour " (from Edith Piaf) that song, in the French Speaking world, that song has the status of expressing a total Love, that only Love is important in Life, in Hope and beyond anything. You can not speak because it takes your full attention, it takes your breath away, it occupies your mind , your soul, and your heart. It is the French " soul and spirit " hymn. It is worth looking for the translation...❤

I maybe listened to this song 50 times or more and somehow I can't keep it dry. Superstar quality. By the way, she's 56 years old now. I also love "Dieu unifie ceux qui s'aiment" that last line, but the one that has ALWAYS torn me apart and
      made me cry is :
"Si un jour la vie t'arrache à moi, si tu meurs que tu sois loin de moi..."
" If one day life tears you away from me, if you die may you be far from me..."
Edith Piaf wrote this song " L' Hymne à L' Amour " for a man she loved madly , in fact this magnificent and so incredibly moving song is dedicated to Marcel Cerdan, a famous French boxer, the love of her life , who died in a plane crash from Paris to New York where he was scheduled for a boxing competition where he was to face La Motta, but of course to join the woman he loved, Edith Piaf who sang in shows in New York....😪.

She worked SO HARD to get to this point. SPS tried to steal her phenomenal voice. The song ‘L’Hymme d’Amour’ Is an Edith Piaf classic. L’Hymme d’Amour is ‘The Hymn of Love’. It was written for Edith Piaf’s husband. Edith Piaf is a French cultural icon. To even be asked to sing one of her songs is an honor. This song was written for her husband right after Edith found out he died in a plane crash. The song is about her deep and abiding love for her husband, Pierre. Celine’s husband, Rene, who she was married to for 21 years, died after a second battle with cancer. They have 3 kids. Their oldest was 15, and the twins were 5 when their dad died. She’s been chasing the symptoms of this rare disability for almost 2 decades, and it almost ended her career. I’m so proud of her.

I really don't know why some people think she's "super old" she's 56 years old, she's nowhere near 70 years old, maybe it's because of her career spanning over 40 years, but she started very young at just 12 years old, and French is her native language she started singing in French

    • @Killermcknight

I think it's because when I was a small child I remembered her. She's been a successful singer before I was even born so not knowing that she started her career when she was 12 I always imagined that she was older than even my mother who was a fan. It's hard to fathom for me at least because I always thought she was in her 30s when I was a child

I'm in the same bracket as the male host: sports and me "nah'. Too many injuries as the smallest kid trying to fit in, plus, unsupervised locker room bullying.
However, greatly enjoy highlights type shows that sum it all up. Still can't figure out rules for ice hockey. But in last few years, taken to UK premier league soccer, and especially a BBC show called Match of the Day, that shows the highlights of multiple games.
I use a VPN to catch the latter.
Olympics is the same: I just want the highlights. The expense is beyond belief. I live in a former Olympic city and remember all the graft and hocus pocus behind the scenes. Totally incompetent people paid fabulous salaries while volunteers did the real work.
Maybe a lot of that has been cleaned up.
Paris has done a special job as host, by changing a lot of what was most boring and costly, such as: skipping opening ceremonies in a stadium, and not building expensive structures for water sports and using the Seine river instead.
Some of those changes will be copied in years ahead.

The pervasive spread of ill-informed comments is truly astonishing. Such a display of ignorance is worrisome. It is advisable to do thorough research before making claims. Céline performed live, and to do otherwise would have been a disservice to her fans. Throughout her career, she has consistently dedicated herself as a gesture of love to her audience. By choosing not to lip-sync and giving her all to her fans during a performance despite her medical challenges, she showed that public esteem is her lifeblood. This insight comes from her pianist, who shared it during an interview. Even as it rained, Céline laughed and said, "Bring on more rain; I love it."
