  • Bluthner grand pianos made up to about 1925 have patent actions. We have had ones made in 1925 in stock. The touch is smoother than a lever action Being fastidiously constructed they restore very well and will last a further 1000 years without any problem. The tone on pre-1940 Bluthners is renowned for being mellow and warm. We highly recommend them.

Exactly the same model as mine (1901): a so deep, full, sweet, colorful and singing sound. And especially these harmonics are a daily drug :)
I forget the refinement and the ease of the Patent mechanic... Congratulations for this fine restoration! Greetings from Brussels

@@RobertsPianos It's a pleasure Evan! Do you conserve the masters of all your assessments? It could certainly interest a music library, a museum or an university as a clever and precious testimony of the golden age of the piano! Kind regards, X

I used to own a bluethner grand from 1910 with a lever system! It was super built quality but needed restoring.

Great work! :) I have a question. I own a 1930 Bechstein Model L Grand Piano and I have this annoying noise coming from the bottom part of the right pedal. What lubricant do you use on pedals? Thanks in advance! :)

great question Stanislav, good for others who might have the same problem. In most cases protek is used as it is good on felt and metal. It can be purchased www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=piano+lubricant&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=protek&LH_TitleDesc=0 restorers and tuners can get it from Fletcher & Newman's, Heckchers and in the US from Pianotek or Howard Piano Industries

    Hello
Quick question, maybe you know the answer: I have heart and read about Style X pianos of 230 cm length on several places on TH-cam. I do own a 1908 230 cm Blüthner and it was sold to me as a Model 2, not as a style X.
So other people than my dealer calling it X instead of 2 confused me a bit and I actually asked Blüthner. Blüthner has no information on my serial number, because their archive burned during a bombing in 1943, but when I asked if it would be a style X or a Model 2 the lady from customer service told me that she actually want and asked Mr. Blüthner (I assume she meant the current owner Christian Blüthner-Haessler) who told her that mine must be a Model 2. They actually did not know the „Style X“ and assumend that it actually meant the Model 10 (166 cm).
so now I am confused a bit. The people at Blüthner, including the owner does not know the term „Style X“, so what exactly does this „Style X“ mean?

Style X was the model designation before the establishment of the DDR, and after it was known as the Model 2. It was exactly the same scale design but the older ones were better than the DDR models. The Blüthner factory and showrooms in continental Europe refer to the ancestral models by the modern model designation but the London showroom uses the old designations for the old models.
You have a Style X, which was sold as the Model 2 after around 1940. In the year 2000 or thereabouts, the Model 2 7'8 scale was discontinued and replaced by a 7'10 scale also called the Model 2. The 7'10 version is different in many ways. Both are beautiful.

@@Kref3 ah that was you? OK! Nice to meet you here as well. I may actually get a Style X in the next year or so. There's one in particular I'm considering. I'd really like it to be honest it just depends if I can do it or not.
