Sahara is part of Morocco historically ruled by Moroccan kings for centuries and The Western Sahara problem was foolishly created by Colonel Gaddafi, who regretted it and was assisted in that by Algerian President Boumediene. Their goal was to eliminate the last monarchy in the region. Throughout the history of this conflict, most of the leaders of the separatist Polisario Front are Moroccans, born in Morocco, and their families live in Morocco.

South Africa in turn should better put hand in hand with Morocco for the sake of a prosperous African future and hence move away from the muddy pits of human-fabricated conflicts. Nice discussion, to better understand the Chiness interest in Morocco, worth focusing that Morocco has become a pivotal player in West Africa, both economically and culturally (historical religious influence is back).
also It has taken over much of France’s traditional influence, particularly through its banking sector, which now serves as a gateway for investment in the region. For anyone looking to invest in West Africa, Moroccan banks are indispensable. Economically, Morocco is emerging as a key hub linking Western countries, China, Russia, and Africa. The pandemic underscored the risks of over-reliance on China, prompting many nations to seek alternatives, with Morocco positioning itself as a strategic backup for Western economies.

This is really a blunder to Algeria, a country desperate to diversify its economy away from fossil fuels. China, a socialist brother to them, is supposed to be in their sphere of influence. Morocco, far more capitalist and free, is more alligned with the West. This goes to show who the world truly sees as the regional leader.

Re. protectionism: nonsense. The EU is (sadly) always open to Moroccan cheap produce, including legal stuff such as parts and textiles but also illegal drugs, and including all the looting they do in West Sahara (phosphates, lithium, fish, etc.) The "collective West" doesn't apply here, in fact Morocco is one of the main routes for Russian exports of oil to Europe and the USA looks elsewhere, because Morocco is best ally of Israel (and vice versa).

That's weird because every analyst considers him pretty much ostracized from the Majzen (the Regime) because King Mohamed is controlled by other factions (his direct family and some mafioso boxers who bring him around through Parisian night life).
