Kaneto Shindo's two masterclass horror movies on Criterion - 'Onibaba' 1964 (dark human horror that might be supernatural), and 'Kuroneko' 1968 (supernatural samurai horror that might be a love story). If you haven't seen these, you're in for a treat.
@@kylesmoviecollection I imagined you might have gotten to one or both of them by now - I am 10-months behind the curve here. I also thought 'Eyes Without a Face' was an excellent choice, by the way. I was maybe surprised that 'Videodrome' and 'Diabolique' didn't make your list, but tastes are personal and you did limit yourself to 13 titles. I'm just getting into your catalog of content now and expect I'll be subscribing very soon. Keep doing your thing!
I found that criterion dvd version of Silence of the Lambs to be grainy looking, scenes of washed out colors and the aspect ratio was so small it was physically difficult to watch. It didn't have subtitles, either. I don't think I've ever been more disappointed watching a known good movie. Thankfully, I got the MGM special widescreen edition (2001) and it was like night and day. The packaging says "high definition 16x9 anamorphic transfer." I'm not exactly sure what that means, but it made for a captivating, no-nonsense watch.
yes, definitely one I need to upgrade to bluray. I have the 4k of the film so Im not in a huge rush to get the criterion bluray but some day i’ll grab a copy!
My suggestion from Criterion is "I Married a Witch". Veronica Lake stars, and it was the inspiration for the tv show, Bewitched.

@@marramraabe I recently watched Onibaba and really enjoyed it! I’ll have to check out the other one!

Don't Look Now (1973) is MOST DEFINITELY a horror film.
yeah after I posted this I thought about and I would also agree lol
Rosemarys baby!
You forgot the greatest Criterion horror of all:
CHASING AMY
Kwaidan by Masaki Kobayashi: 4 ghost stories, 3 hours long with an intermission.Kuroneko.
It's Alive, Bell Book & Candle.
Cat People is amazing.
Great video!
Thank you!
