Twin cab utes tow worse than Falcon or Commodore sedans, the weight is all up high and horrible. Actually, twin cab utes are camels trying to be race horses in all ways, not enough tray, not enough cabin … compromised every way.

Always check the trailer tyre pressures and the spare and the lug nuts.
Never leave the car on the trailer in gear.
Chain the thing on as well as strap it with ratchets.
You’ll do more damage to the car on the trailer than you realise, especially ball joints and bushes.
Always leave a window down on the car, you often can’t open the doors.
Put some cardboard in front of the radiator of the car, stuff gets flicked up from the road, the windscreen of the car can cop a battering too.
Try not to cross the chains holding the car to the trailer, if one fails the other will go slack and then you will have to get new undies.
    Enjoy!

      why not in gear?

Coz when the car bucks and bounces on the trailer it can damage the tail shaft and the gearbox if it is in gear …. or get jammed in gear and then getting it off the trailer is no fun.
When the car is on the trailer it’s a wild ride, you have the car and the trailers suspension both rocking the car about unless you compress the cars suspension down which also breaks stuff and a loaded spring stores a lot of energy. Trailers are sent from the devil and towing cars is not easy!

I am not a fan of your 70/30 rule. I prefer 10%-15% tongue weight.
