I had a co worker who never took pictures. Not even on vacation. Said it takes up space and the memories are stored in their heads. I was always baffled by this. I LOVE looking back at pictures because they bring up memories that I have forgot about it.
@@GoingGreenMom yes true! I’m just procrastinate stuff like that. However sister said she might want some of it as she got rid of a ton of craft stuff because they were gonna move and downsize then her husband changed his mind. They had a big garage sale and everything 🙀
Great video! I came across this looking for decluttering and organization ideas. I am 29 and have been going through mine and my parents pictures as well as the ones that my Dad's parents had. Me and my parents had a couple of boxes of pictures and some albums but no where near as much as my grandparents did. My grandparents had over 60 albums in one closet, frames and loose photos in boxes under the bed and drawers also full of photos, as well as an old cedar chest full of older photos. I have gone through a lot of them already and sorted some for my Aunts, Uncles and cousins, but there are still many. Even the ones from the 40's and 50's had some duplicates. I am hoping to eventually put them in scrapbooks, using photo corners for the older photos. I may leave some in boxes. Not sure what I will do. Me and Mom added and redid her scrapbook that her mother made her. I still have to work on mine, my Dad, and at least one album on my Dad's family and one on my mom's family. My Mom's family really didn't take that many pictures. There are a lot of her and her brothers but not really that many of her parents and even less of her grandparents (which is weird). On my Dad's side it's a different story. My grandmother had a lot of her mother's pictures and my grandpa had almost all of the pictures that his parents had, which also included what his grandparents had. It has been overwhelming but I do a little bit at a time. I also have boxes of newspapers and clippings and boxes of old letters and cards that I need to look through too. My grandparents didn't throw away much. Keep up the good work!
Just take it 1 small step at a time so you don't get overwhelmed. The chat replay was cracking me up when Ginger said she hung a photo frame with the original picture inside and Barbara called them instant ancestors! 😆🤣
I know what you mean. I haven't had my kids pictures all up in forever because we were renting houses. They were taken all at certain ages. I need to figure out where to put them and then ask the hubby to complete my thought process haha
Hi Michelle! Looks like you’re making good progress with photo clean out. I’ve been doing the same thing. 2 weeks ago I spent 2 days at 3-4 hrs each cleaning out 2 huge boxes of old photos. I had a giant trash bag full to burn. Last week, a couple hours 1 day cleaning out 2 small photo boxes. Then a few hours another day going through 6 very old photo albums, trashed those old yellowing falling apart albums and most of the pictures. I’m sick of doing that. So next month I’ll work again getting them organized. Why did I accumulate all that? Million dollar question😵💫 When our son was little I had this brilliant idea to scrapbook my pictures. That was a fail, I hated it. I threw away a car load of scrapbook material. Expensive hobby that I never even started. What a waste. 😳
yes, photos are my head explosion right now. i have been gradually taking pictures on my photo and transfering into a flash drive with name of who it is and approx year. if i dont know they are=trash. best wishes. 🙏🙏💗💗🤗🤗

I like the idea of placing pictures in boxes according to categories 🔬🏝️
Thanks for sharing!

I also like the idea of taking pics out of albums as well. And i may do that one day as well to save room.
You really did make a lot of progress!!!!
Thanks, Michelle! Photo projects take a long time but well worth it!
@@barbarap6851 giving myself 5 years to get it done lol! Hopefully it doesn’t take that long.
Getting that stuff out of the house will make sitting there to work on photos much more enjoyable! You are doing great!

It's funny what pictures we kept then and how now, we're like, why did we do that? haha
