    What are a few things you don’t like about your daily driver?

      My daily is a 2013 TSX my only complaint is that it’s not more powerful but it’s great on gas and they set these up pretty good for corners for a fwd car, I might do something stupid like supercharging it and get a set of cams but who knows😂 probably just drive it forever stock, it’s at 150k miles and still amazing I change the oil every 3-5k, atf drain and fill every 30k, interiors still in good shape.

    I've owned a 2007 Gen 7 Accord six cylinder coupe with a 6 speed manual transmission since new. Factory trim is fake carbon fiber, but pretty realistic looking. What I don't like has mostly everything to do with FWD. The 07 puts out nearly 250hp and the wheel hop off the line is annoying, especially in the rain. Mine came with hard Michelin tires optimized for wear and gas mileage. Pirelli P7's and Bridgestone Potenzas have tamed this a little. Also, there is a fair amount of torque steer on hard acceleration. Some of the four cylinder Gen 7 cars didn't even come with a rear stabilizer bar. The six cylinder cars came with the same front and rear bars as the fours but the engine and battery add weight to the front which makes for pronounced oversteer that really detracts from the handling. I got an Acura rear bar which is much thicker than the original and reduces oversteer significantly. The bar and bushings are a direct replacement with no modifications. Other than that, the car has been very reliable and fun. Only big expense was a clutch replacement. Engine and transmission are on a subframe and must be lowered before they can be separated. Also flywheel is dual mass and should be replaced and not machined. I believe it is 14 hours of labor and requires a special tool or at least a mechanic who knows what they are doing to preset the self adjuster.

    My 2004 accord v-6 has 275k on it. I bought it in pristine condition with 63K on it.
    1. You'll replace the trans with a rebuilt one about every 100k. My last one went for about 120k and the shop said I was lucky.
    The original trans blew at 98k. Sorry to say, this is just how it is with the v-6 auto, and they are known for it.
    Yes, a FULL fluid replacement at about every 30k might help (a little) but if your transmission starts acting up, be prepared for the worst and get it into the shop quickly to avoid the tow charge.
    2) its likely you'll need to replace the headliner at some point because the padding separates from the original factory installed adhesive. I put probably hundred staples in it to keep it up but I may replace it. There are TH-cam videos on how to do it.
    3) Radio reception has always seemed weaker than any car I've ever owned.
    The AC blower motor went out at about 125k. That's too early in my estimation.
    The threads in the oil pan drain are easy to strip, and it is very, very likely to happen if you regularly take it to one of the quick oil change places. I suggest to always have your oil changed by your regular mechanic and let them know to be very careful in reinstalling and tightening the drain plug.
    I know someone who put over 500k on one of these, but he did have to replace the transmissions.
    I dont think the four cylinder cars have the trans problems, and my mechanic says those cars can go forever.

    Is it possible to add a timing chain to your honda?

    • @PhilipTamorria
      @PhilipTamorria  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No it would be very expensive, you’d be better off doing an engine swap…timing belts aren’t really that bad anyway.

    • @robertvsnow
      @robertvsnow วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I prefer a chain, especially since Honda makes interference engines. They went to chains on the four cylinder engines years ago. It's not possible to replace the belt with a chain, because the belt runs dry completely outside the engine case and a chain is oil lubricated. But, there are many manufacturers out there with engines that have unreliable timing chains, tensioners and/or guides. If you are unlucky enough to own one, replacing a timing chain can be far from routine and very expensive compared to a belt. Jaguar comes to mind.

      @robertvsnow yes but for some magical reason they never used a chain on their 6 cylinder,
      [that I know of].
