    Hi Peter
    Your upgrade series has been very helpful for me as i am in process of building my own CNC .
    I am just a beginner and was hesitant to make one but after watching your videos i got bit of confidence.
    Keep up the good work.
    Good luck.

    Sometimes it's a nice "feature" to have the spindle overhang the table at the front. Allows you to do "tall" parts (like tenons on the end of a board) by clamping them to the front and letting them hang down.

    You are doing great Peter!
    The idea of using only one sensor for each axis is brilliant.
    For the slots, there are plastic slot covers, holding the wires in place and preventing dust to go inside. My only concern about the rubber is that it can start to "melt" and become stick over time (I hope not).
    I can't wait for the next episode!
    💪Stay strong

    Peter EXCELLENT!!!! Video. With This Video you have reveal a very good video on upgrading a CNC. I hope with all of the items you have mentioned you have left to do, I would hope you make a specific video on each of those items for example connecting the the sensors to the controller, and then making the appropriate changes on the controller. So that would provide a how to for adding sensors and then with the upgrade to the Zed Axis you go through how to calibrate the new axis. Just like what you did with adding the sensors. I like the fact you used one sensor for each of the axis and they provide both the homing and limits. I did on my Garageworx CNC used a similar sensor as some might know some come as PNP or NPN devices and they are connected differently to the controller based on the type. I have seen many get confused on the type of sensor they bought and how to hook it up to make it work.

      I haven't really decided where to go from here but I will consider. Not everything translates from one controller to another thought the principle is the same. Much of what comes next has been covered in other videos either on this channel or my 2nd one.
      Cheers Peter

    Coming along nicely! That rubber packing you used is sold here in the US as packing material for caulking. Most hardware stores and big box stores have it. Inexpensive.

    Peter put the caps over the screw holes same as your z rails have , otherwise debris will get into your bearings. They should also be flush with the rail face not recessed, so the bearing wipers work properly .

    Hi Peter
    Nice idea with the rubber. I have just put up a greenhouse and in order to run my wiring in th t nut grooves I just cut up some bicycle inner tubes and put it behind the cable and then pressed it into the groove. You might need extra layers off inner tube depending on how thick the cable is. Trim up the bits of rubber sticking out and your good to go. Cheers Andrew

    Thank you very much for your videos on uccnc. I'm just in the process of switching from Mach 3 to uccnc. I was wondering if you could help me with a question? I have everything working except for the safety z which is not working, when I run a file to cut the torch just moves across the table without lifting up, it does the cut ok but I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out out to get the torch to raise up on file start then lower down when it reaches its cut start area. Many thanks and happy New year from the UK.

    Love the idea of using one sensor for each axis, genius! I have a couple of questions about the sensors you used. First which did you use? PNP or NPN? Normally Open or Normally closed? I have purchased NPN Normally Open switches and want to ensure I'm connecting them properly to Masso, do I need to add a resister on the output of the switch before the input of the Masso? You're videos have been so very helpful. I love the added humor as well, it always brings at least a smile to my face! Thank you!

    • @cncnutz
      @cncnutz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John,
      I'm afraid I can't take any credit for the idea of using 1 sensor as homing and limits at each end of the Axis. I am surprised it isn't more common though especially given the saving in wiring time and components.
      For what it is worth mine are NPN NO sensors but not all sensors ar the same and you really need to test what you have and wire them accordingly. I recommend you read the quick start quick on Homing sensor identification and wiring. It will quickly figure out what you have and show you how to wire it to MASSO. docs.masso.com.au/quick-start-guides/homing-sensor-identify
      Cheers Peter

      @@cncnutz Thank you so much! Yes according to the manual, using the sensors I have will require a resistor. But of course, they will be tested using the graph in the manual to confirm what sensors I have!

    Thanks for all your information. It will help me with the CNC which I want to build. One question: Did you consider doing everything lighter? Like i.e. a 80mm C-Beam? I guess if the Z-Axis would be lighter then the X could be lighter than the Y could be lighter.

    • @cncnutz
      @cncnutz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought about it but went for the aluminum extrusion because it makes the design and build easier. Lastly I couldn't find a C-beam locally that looked suitable.

      At that spindle speed you should be moving at about 600ipm or 15meters per minute. I'm guessing that you are nowhere near that speed. Please see my video on feeds and speeds.

      If the Z axis is dragging it might be the Code is not telling the Z axis to rise before moving to the start.
