    This is why you always swatch EVERY new art supply, even clay. It makes sense that colors change when you bake clay. Most things change color when you bake them, food, clay, etc. It would also be a good idea, if you need a specific end color, to mix the color you THINK you need, and then bake a small sample piece of the color to see if it changes at all and adjust accordingly.

    I want to thank you so much for *all* of your videos. I am literally brand new to polymer clay (bought mostly the "right" stuff because of your videos). I'm slowly making my way through all of your videos and Oh My Gosh, I didn't know there was so much I didn't know!!! Your voice is so pleasant and friendly and every video I've watched so far is packed full of information. So, again, thank you for all the time you have spent doing all of this for your viewers.

    Thank you for the work :) I´ve made something like this with my Fimo colors. Ive baked the colors and glaced them. So I can see how it looks with a shiny or a mat finish. I like the idea of raw vs baked very well :)

    • @PolymerClayTutor
      @PolymerClayTutor  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +alicja placek Thank you for saying that! I could make color chips but I don't like SculpeyIII clay because it is too brittle. Premo is a much better quality clay.

    This is very helpful, especially for a newbie like myself. I have a question about how well clay releases from glass or metal. I'm using Premo and I want to create a mushroom cap by covering a glass or metal bowl. The mushroom will go out in my yard as part of my fairy garden. Thank you for your help!

  • @karenlal9242
    @karenlal9242 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the gold premo turn out sparkly or metallic or is it more opaque, I was only able to find 18K gold at the michaels near my house but it is very sparkly but its not part of the glitter line. I am looking for clay that is gold but not sparkly.

  • @janem785
    @janem785 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    thank you so much for the great info on the premo colors just one question the ones like fuschia, ultramarine,green, and purple that gets slightly darker when baked how would you go about mixing so that you dont loose the lighter color like the fuchsia love the color of it raw but not so much the color difference when baked is there a way to keep it more true to the raw color.....hope this makes sense sorry if confusing I am a very new to polmer clay

    • @PolymerClayTutor
      @PolymerClayTutor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those colors darken a little because they have a fair amount of translucent in them so to counteract that, you can add a touch of white. Bake up some little test samples to get the exact color you want after baking.

  • @CulturaAbsurda
    @CulturaAbsurda 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is very helpful. I immediately went to find periwinkle and wisteria (at that point in the video) and couldn’t. Jungle I found but it was hard. I wish that places like Amazon, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or Walmart would just sell ALL of one whatever brand they have. Trying to cobble together everything I want or need from multiple sources is kinda crazy making 🙄

    • @PolymerClayTutor
      @PolymerClayTutor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I am always surprised by how hard companies make it to buy their products. 🙄 Jungle and Periwinkle have been discontinued... another thing that drives me mad. But you can buy directly from Sculpey now at www.sculpey.com so at least you can get all their colors in one place, though I believe there may be experiencing some delays with Covid happening right now.

      PolymerClayTutor I love your posts. Have found them to be the most informative. Like baking color changes and translucent types. Thanks for sharing this. I didn't spot Magenta Pearl on there. I'm getting used to the new recipe despite it looking like I've boiled my fingers as so much dye leaches out! I preferred the original shade of magenta pearl and have been trying to replicate it. Do you have a recipe for that?

    • @PolymerClayTutor
      @PolymerClayTutor  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Liz Holt I think they were having trouble with that color.... they have discontinued it as well. Last year I think. I don't have a recipe for it but you could check the www.sculpey.com site. They might have one.

      +wilson lopez it is just a square cookie cutter. I don't remember if it is from Amaco Poly Cutters, Makins set or from Sculpey. There are tons of them out there though. The size is 3/4 inch.
