I had a cousin who was an ice bike racer and back in the 70's and 80's, it was popular in my area here in Canada. They used to race on the frozen lakes all winter long. They just used dirt bikes with studded tires. They used to kick up rooster tails of ice over 12 feet high and by the end of the day, there was about a 2 to 3 foot deep oval rut carved into the ice. I can see why they use full fenders on these indoor tracks.
Although they look hideous I actually love the full wrap fenders! I am amazed really these have not made it to all sorts of motorcycles ....just barely kissing an open wheel front tire against practically anything at speed will just throw the rider! I broke both legs due to this ...lots of racers in every discipline with open wheels get spit off ...it only need happen once to you at the wrong time/place and you are SCREWED ....it's what makes F1 car racing so insanely dangerous if you ask me

I was always taught to never ride a motorcycle on gravel. These crazy motherfuckers ride 'em on ice 0_o
