    The dielectric grease should not be applied directly to the spark plug only the inner wall of the coil packs to prevent moisture and really you don’t have to use it at all cuz the coil pack insulates it pretty well already it could run rough from lack of power putting the grease where you put it.

      Right. "Dielectric" means insulating. Great for waterproofing but horrible for conducting electricity.

    Hey man u did great explaining every step in lamen detail. Also u used 2 steps that noone else used in this process. The gapping and the torquing ! It just tops it off that u demonstrated on a white Jetta just like mine. Lol Thanx man keep u tha great work.

    Pop the coils up first,and then disconnect the coils.more room after you pop coils up,because it allows you to clear the bracket for the harness

      @boomerguy9935 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also, if you can't fit a flat screwdriver underneath, you can use a locked zip-tie as a tool to slide underneath the edge of the top of the coil to lift straight up. VW sells an expensive special tool which does exactly the same thing...typical German engineering.

    Great vid. At the end of the video, were you able to run the engine without the engine cover and maf connected?

    • @montakims
      @montakims ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't do that, these Volkswagens have their air filter inside of the engine cover, that's why it's so annoying to remove all the hoses/pipe for the mass air flow sensor and the hose that connects to the throttle body. If you start the car without the engine cover, you will enable dirt and debris to get into your engine directly through the uncovered and unfiltered throttle body. You could install a cold air intake to keep the engine cover off, but the main point is filtering the air from airborne and loose particles.

    I feel like the plugs should have been pre-gapped by ECS, to truly have taken all the “ guesswork “ out of the equation…

    you should NOT put the dielectric grease on the head of the spark plug! you do realize, that the grease does not conduct electricity right? thus it shouldnt be applied to any electrical connection part. Its meant to go on the inside of the rubber boot (the inner wall) or wires...but certainly away from any connection parts (like the head where you put it)

    • @boomerguy9935
      @boomerguy9935 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. Dielectric means "insulating". It should definitely be used on rubber or plastic seals for moisture proofing. Never put it on metal-to-metal contact points.

    • @michaelalemansr.8565
      @michaelalemansr.8565 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wrong the grease prevents corrosion and the metal makes contact

    • @boomerguy9935

      It's a personal preference. I use NGK instead and they work great also.

      @@boomerguy9935. No it's not.... If these are the real Audi ones, they are a lot more reliable and reduce heat soak by transferring heat better. You will have a better spark, smoother idle and if you plan on boosting your 07k these will handle the power more reliably......

    Hello, thanks for the video, may I ask you what sockets size u used? Thank you

    • @montakims
      @montakims ปีที่แล้ว

      There are special sockets that are made specialized for spark plugs but they are very interchangeable as they come in sizes such as ⅜", ⅝", etc. Just find the correct spark plug socket from your local auto parts store and keep in mind that they are NOT the same as deep sockets, they typically run deeper than deep sockets.

    could a hard bump into a curb (slid in snow) cause the coils/plugs to get jostled enough to cause misfires? i'm getting random misfire and cylinder 1 - 4 (in a 2.5) misfire codes.

    • @TheOnlyInformant

      Highly unlikely, but if you're unsure, take the cover off as shown, and firmly push those puppies down with the palm of your hand. Don't hit it with a metal hammer if you're unsure. Deadblow or rubber, preferably with a block of wood over top.
