This is a one of the rare Isekai's that is actually good. No waifu's no harem and no overpowered protagonist. Just a poor bastard who basically reincarnated into the world of Berserk.

This takes the more realistic spin on a story, "you aren't summoned, what happened to you is special but you ain't, you'll come to see your transportation is a tragedy, and if you wanna survive you gotta adapt to a new world order and fall in line or get trampled" This is a natural occurrence that targets a smaller area but has much more impact on those directly affected.
The tragedy is seeing life as a tragedy. So no tragedy at all, lol. Bad things bring about good things. Visa versa. It's like we are looking at one thing and choosing parts we like and do not. Yet, one cannot exist without the other and the thing we love most is experiencing ourselves, the universe.
Like moving to a foreign country
What makes it good is that he isn't handed everything on a silver platter and is just a regular person who has to fight tooth and nail just to survive in an unforgiving world.

It’s like a Roman spending decades fighting civil wars and conquering new lands and peoples. Pretty gnarly stuff to see a soldier’s pov.
Except they are just defending themselves and it spiraled into forever war with everyone
as far as i know, the manga stops at chapter 16, it is axed. the novel stops somewhere ar around chap 31 or 32.

Yeah but in comparison to most other isekais it's kinda dark I guess. It's mostly due to the fact the MC and Co. struggle in this one where in most isekais it's wish fulfillment and the MC doesn't struggle for long as they become op or have an advantage over the other world's inhabitants. The world is also less fantasy and doesn't contain many video game elements like most isekais do giving it a more serious tone and setting

you cant possibly expect quality work at this tier on a consistent basis, this kind of level of detail takes time to craft, unless you want some rushed garbage with crap quality.
I think "Yajin Tensei: Karate Survivor In Another World" is a personal fav for realism but with a little bit more human mysticism as part of the whole isekai survivor genre. Definitely more fresh than the generic crap, especially since through most of the current story nobility is heard of and almost never seen, because that's how it would be for mediaeval peasants. Lots of class inequality awareness, highly recommended.

Story where dude take down the knight and armored peasants on first try, weaponless, through just karate... yeah, realism
I definitely appreciate how realistic the combat mindset is in this. Its similar to how soldiers recount their combat experiences, in the heat of the battle they just foucs on the task, but afterwards is when all the stress and moral dilemmas hit you like a truck. And eventually they get used to the death and stress, their mindset basically turns to not really caring about anything except getting through the next battle.
And as for the "skills" and powers I can understand it to an extent, it just helps keep a guy alive long enough for us to actually follow and for him to things that are cool but not exactly impossible to accomplish without powers.
I just finished reading the latest chapter in the Manga (currently have 16 chapters). It's a good story and I love how the author portrayed a realistic side of the war... No soldiers are evil, they're just the pawns of powerful aristocrats rivaling each other for their own gains.
The artstyle is good and the storytelling is compelling. I read few amounts of isekai story and this one totally pique my interest and I personally rank it as FIRST in my personal favourite isekai story.

one of the things I liked about this manga was the fact that people actually wore helmets.
I don't know why but its just really annoying to me that people forget that helmets was the first piece of armour and protection any person got in the past and in the current day.
me being such a history/war nerd and wanting to be immersed in a manga or show it is pretty hard when the glaring exposed head is always staring me in the face.

It's the cheapest piece of armor, for the most valuable bodypart. Everything else ain't as cheap and doesn't really prevent you from getting a structural rearrangement of your cranium against your will.

I love this Manga and the light novel of this story. This story takes a realistic telling about a man who is reborn in this world of Fantasy where it's not all sunshine and rainbows like most stories. Kinda like BERSERK but a Isekai.

I think you'll really like "Karate Survivor in Another World" it is also one of the few isekais that is realistic and grounded in it's world

This story starts off strong but, like most LN's becomes incredibly boring later on.
The author seems to only want to write fight scenes, so the MC is always jumping from one big fight to the next. Read the LN until chapter 98, got bored of the story, skipped to chapter 158... and I still understood what was going on. That's really bad if you can just skip ahead 60 chapters and practically nothing has changed aside from where and who the MC is fighting.
It can be summed up as:
"There is no story except for the instant decline of countries. There are no character development except for the slow degredation of the MC. When one side is close to winning, a game changer is thrown in to make the battle keep going. There is nothing except constant war."

If you guys like this manga, I would also like to recommend Lion Coeur Senki if you want a realistic, unapologetic version of Vinland where living and adapting in the old times and ways can cause you to become more barbaric, for the sake of people you want to protect.

@@arceusdominus2612 Haven't seen the video yet but couldn't they use magic as drugs to enhance their senses and remove the feeling of tiredness and mental fatigue for a bit? I think that would be very much vital to survival in such a harsh battlefield or is the magic just magic Y is fireball there is no general magic just spells that some mage somewhere in the country developed and taught the army to use
@Aureonw that'd probably be more advanced herbalist magic if they have that. Maybe a druid or something like that, sure but they haven't shown them yet I'd reckon.

No idea if the video just massively improved on the manga quality or if the manga is really that good but no matter what, it really seems like this takes a VERY interesting spin on the genre. Probably gonna read this next.

That's the personal feelings of every soldier. Even ones that are thrown into battle with no experience or training. You just gotta get over it and do your job if you want to live. It's pathetic, but it's a true meaning of war and a soldier, your life or theirs. There's no way around it.
@@takashishin8282 Yup, you just bite the bullet and focus on the end goal of making it home in one piece. Any set of morals you had towards killing before just weigh you down and are better left shed. Same goes with kindness, you have to treat any interaction as hostile until you are 100% sure its not as even a wounded soldier in the arms of death can still deal a killing blow.

something to note, the manga is VERY early on in the story and is basically only the intro, also they dont mention it at the beginning but this is very much a fantasy world with monsters like goblins and orcs, dungeons, adventurers and even elves
There're some moments in his voice while reading that makes me suspect that AT just ai generated himself to voiceover the script for him, like words he'd say absolutely wrong but still say it with no hesitation or stammering that he fumbled a word and continue along.
Yeah, I think as much to. The manga seems interesting, but if I had to take a shot every time the voiceover says "-in one go," or the like, I would die of alcohol poisoning.

@UnifiedEntity idk. I know two more very realistic isekai. Karate survivor and Grimsargh fantasy, despite having the characters come into the world with no OP power and no items, they both ended up unique from each other.
If more isekai was realistic it would be more predictable but better. Right now isekai is predictable regardless so...

Also, Sarajevo is an actual city on Earth, and it's not pronounced "Saraveho," but "Saraievo."
Empire probably pictures something akin to ottomans or eastern romans (going by the types of armors) and unified 4 kingdoms are probably closer to europeans, again goin by the looks also the names of the areas.
@@Huehue-qf1ri Oh, I am aware of such. I was bringing attention to the way Sarajevo was pronounced, because it's the capital city of Bosnia and Hercegovina, which is a European country. Some respect has to be given to things like that, even if you don't care about their existence.
And yes, the Empire that Walt is a soldier of, does seem to be that worlds Ottoman Empire, because of the germanic name of their country, as well as the space they occupy, which seems to be France and Germany.
And yes, I did write "town" instead of "city" in my comment before, so I did get something wrong in the end. I'll edit it though, so that no drama happens.

I was going by the stylization of armors and soliders (and also by bosnia) that highserk is more akin to ottomans and eastern romans as you can see by their helmets and also ignis fatuus as its arabic as well. But then again Walt, Serk etc are german names but Hoze (?) and Duwei is spanish noor is arabic, so author probably mixed aestetichs and cultural names with one another, I was kinda commenting on aesthetic of soliders tho, circular big shields, lamellar and kinda mirror armour of common soliders and also our characters that defend more of the torso (unlike plate armour of 4 kingdom) and kinda long headwears with nasal protection and chainmail after them gives more eastern med. vibe to empire.
Town and city are kinda close in meaning so I dont think naming is that wrong tho but its true that town gives more of an underdeveloped or unimportant vibe unlike Sarajevo but its suitable for that worlds “saraveho” I guess

The manga unfortunately updates SUPER slowly, it's really good but really gradual. I've read the novel to its latest chapter though and I can tell you it maintains a fantastic level of quality throughout, so if you don't want to wait 2 months for a single not very long chapter then maybe check out the novel.

Have you ever read "Lion Coeur Senki"? It's literally one of the darkest manga I've ever read. It's an isekai, but he's reincarnated into a savage world where they commit atrocities and murder and steal just for the heck of it. It's a combo of this manga, Vinland saga (just the first Viking part), and the manga "Threads of Time". Really good, but despicable.

@@fishwithlegs8582 32 chapters of the manga so far. There is a light novel I believe also, but the translation quality of those vary based on its distributor. You can take a chance on the web novel, but you'll have to machine translate it on a janky website.
What do you mean "just for the sake of it"? Their whole entire territory is at stake. Its not like the MC committed those atrocities just for the sake of it but its because its the only option MC knows. Plus, they have limited manpower and supplies.
i really enjoyed this one! dying "randomly" getting sent to another world, getting put into an army, getting a skill (shall never to be used again!) getting the otherworld magic starter pack. its all interesting so ima go read more now!

I read it and it was an ok read but it's not a really a similar kind of thing as this manga and it's more like what happens after an isekai one thing I can't get over is why he didn't just therapy the captain America type villain to their side instead of letting the spear hero guy kill him though you could use the "he's too tired from all the lifetimes he lived" as a reason but idk that was like 3 months ago since I last read it

The heroes kill his platoon with him "surviving" as a burned husk of a man underneath a mountain of bodies. Who is then granted power by some mystery entity and he takes his revenge on the enemy army. The war continues on for awhile. Until the Highserk army corners an enemy country, and while the enemy country faces down their doom they decided to intentionally piss off all the monsters in a giant forest which causes such a massive monster wave that it destroys the country that started it, all the neighboring counties, and even Highserk itself. Leaving Walm with no human connections left, and no homeland to return to.
That's not very far off from where the video ends.
But life goes on even in those circumstances so Walm seeks new purpose. Which I won't get into.

This story didn't have to be an isekai. The first arc was genuinely one of the best I have ever read in a light novel series. Then it falls off and becomes one of the generic trash we have grown used to.

This is one those story that started strong, lose steam midway and pretty much going in circle and losing the way at the endpoint. 8 out of 10. ( 7 but the translation readable so extra 1 )

I have mixed feelings on this manga. While it's definitely a nice shake up from normal Isekai, I feel like it's trying a bit too hard to be dark. Reminds me a lot of the black swordsman arc when Miura didn't really know what he wanted to do with berserk. This manga could either just keep being edgy boy acting edgy or it could become something really special in the future. I'll keep reading to see where it goes, but I don't have my hopes up.

From what I've heard from people. The light novel is pretty damn good.
Adventurers employed to aid in war, we never really seen how adventurer would end up in medieval fantasy when they dont have to deal with just monsters, dungeons and so forth. And lo we see, power they have but its not enough. They can stop a number of troops, but they can't deal with all of them, eventually there will be some among them like the protagonist running into them and they fall. The kicker is, the protagonist too, is but a cog in a machine.
remind me of the manga with saga something..dude get reincarnated as a prince in isekai but no magic,just like medieval stuff..he learn to sword fight,learn to kill,learn to rob,and learn to mewhehe with womans that fall to their kingdom..basically like viking..go mwehehe woman that falls and sell them as slave,seize land,sell children..dude really become an *sshole just to survived in those world

It would be awesome to see a more darker version of being in another world. Where the summoned ones are not having their way with their instant cheat skill in a world of unfiltered.

It does get darker and darker mostly due to events outside of mc control. It does a great job of showing that despite becoming strong and experienced he still is just but a one human
