No matter who covers a Zep song, there is always joy and optimism between the band and the fans that does not happen with any other cover song. Even the worst bar band will get a standing O if they dare to play Kashmir because everyone will know how special it is to hear that rhythm played live, even badly is still better than just about anything else. For me, it all about the drums with the supersonic guitar shaded by the vocals and bass that makes Zep the best of all time. I salute any and every band that plays their music in tribute.
This is entirely presentable. First of all Chris could go nuts, but he doesn’t. He could….The rest of the band is really good, there is no embarrassment here. Shame Chris couldn’t hook up with Page, he is respectful. Temple could have done more, this is artful, not OMG.
temple of the dog was a great band. and they chose this song to cover.which tested the best of everyone's abilities including Chris. man did they do a fantastic job
Saw this live and even the video gives me chills again it’s like I go back in time and feel the whole thing over again, like it’s a new song! I miss him so much😞
SG was heavily influenced by 70's classic rock, specially Zeppelin. Just listen to the first 4 mnts of "In the light" and listen to Slaves and Bulldozers. A lot of alternate tunings and riffs structure Zeppelin used influenced the Seattle, alternative rock bands deeply. If you play any instrument by now you are able to see that!!Listen to Knock me down from Chilli Peppers and listen to The Wanton song bridge part, its the same riff. Listen to Porch, daughter, #1 Demo, Alive and listen to Zeppelin III, IV and Physical Graffiti. Jeff said that Stone always looks for inspiration on Zepp songs as he does on Punk rock kind of approach.
After the '07 O2 show when Page, Jones, and Jason Bonham were auditioning new singers when Plant (perfectly justifiably, IMO) didn't want to tour or record, they should have called up Chris Cornell. Maybe they did, who knows, but man, think of what that lineup could have done.
They did and in fact rehearsed, Jason Bonham stated tapes exist of Cornell along with Sammy hagar , Steven Tyler and Myles Kennedy any of which would of been great.
The person recording this must be a drummer as he focuses on Matt Cameron. I can’t believe that during the guitar solo we don’t get to see Mccready. Damn you drummers 🤣😂
Great cover.!! To bad the camera man did not pan over to the lead guitar player during the lead . . one of the best parts of the song!!. O well.. but glad to have it recorded nonetheless.!
Chris was awsome in all those bands and in solo. They had great names (and it's rare) with significant and simple meaning (thanks to Chris) and amazing songs that sounded like no one else. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. When I think of the beautiful loss those men endure. Ours is nothing compared to theirs. I'm not diminishing any feelings we have about Chris at all. Here's why:. I only discovered Chris 3 months ago. I dreamed about him 2 years ago but didn't know who he was until I started reading about his charity for trafficked kids. The instant I saw him, his energy knew me and mine knew him. True story ppl. I believe Chris dialed up a certain frequency and millions of us tune into it. He screamed our soul pain, he felt it. Incredible gift. ☮️❤️. I'm 66. Followed many bands. But no one comes close to Chris. In fact, no one can.
My all time fav led zep song but live version n the 70s always loved the song n how they just jammed Jimmy page just going shirt full of sweat n just rollin having fun n the ending how it felt like you was on a journey or something n the lights went out n a blue light focused on him at the end how he did his walk with the guitar ...I would have giving anything to see them back in the day n that concert
If you look up Page and Plant, Achilles Last Stand, you’ll get a great video of them doing this during their 1995 tour. Michael Lee on drums does the best job I’ve heard since Bonham. Even gets applause from Jimmy at the end. Only thing I’ve never liked about this song is that it doesn’t have an ending...,.it just sorts of stops....otherwise, it’s brilliant.
Not sure how I missed this before, but this is the greatest song ever written. I'm not about to say anything unkind about stairway, but if you're into the whole epic thing, this is THE zeppelin tune.
@@scotchrobbins this is a song by Led Zeppelin that only Led Zeppelin can make sound like it should. I love Soundgarden I love Chris Cornell maybe to a slightly lesser extent, I love Pearl Jam. Absolutely love Temple of the Dog but the song that they are playing here and, I was there that night, was missing many subtleties. I love Matt Cameron as a drummer and his sense of timing, common and obscure, but he is no John Bonham.
At last Chris,Matt,Stone,Mike,Jeff, because regardless of Kurt being Punk like us too,we,and he(I strongly suspect)are ALL into Zep!,and doing something like this,so good too,it also makes one realize how incredibly not like Plant Chris sings, and I mean that as a compliment like he's so much his own deal,Great note for note solo Mike!

Kind of weird to hear this song played live at the tempo of the zeppelin studio version. Even time zep played it live it was played at cocaine hyper drive speeds where it sounded chaotic but in a good way. It was like controlled chaos that ran the risk of getting out of hand at any second but somehow never did. It's funny when zeppelin started playing it at a slower pace in 1980 that's when they started to train the song.
Achilles is probably my favorite zep song it's definitely in the top 3, when I came across this thumbnail I started not to watch because I was afraid it might not be that great, but I'm very impressed this song is very technically demanding. Alot of people dont believe me when I tell them that when I saw Metallica back in the 90s the did Achilles it was ok but Lars Ulrich their drummer kinda messed the whole song up and I think Hetfield got some of the words wrong. This was spot on. RIP Chris Cornell
Anyone know how they went about choosing the covers to perform? Guessing they were among Andrew's favorites, but haven't been able to confirm that online anywhere. Love, Billy

One of my top 2 Zep tunes. Nice. The other one is "No Quarter" if anyone cares lol
Hurricane Jones we dont
Those are pretty much two of my Top 5 Zeppelin songs as well, along with "The Rover" , "Ten Years Gone" and "In The Light".
I don't care that you don't care ...
Achilles last stand
the rover
ten years gone
the wanton song
nobody's fault but mine
the list goes on..
Ten Years Gone best LZ song EVER!!!

Buddy... I just wanna give you a hug right about now. Your comment is kind and insightful; a rare sight indeed.
....you just know, magic is about to happen.
to be fair, that intro is hard as hell, and Jimmy plays it so naturally
I don't like anybody singing Plant, except Chris here on this song great job and RIP.
glad its not up to you

He's serial killer serious.

he sucked and if you were honest you'd see it.
It's literally the BEST live version of this song I've ever heard! Chris Cornell gone too soon💔
R.I.P. Chris Cornell, A great rock star and incredible talent. You will be remembered and missed.
Cameron kills it. That stand at the end is drummer for "finally, I can rest".
Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith at Bonzo's Bash.

this is hands down one of my favorite zeppelin tunes ...nice
great job on drums-one of the hardest songs to keep up with for that long
Brian Forsyth I saw him do this live twice; he is a beast!
Cameron is a master! So underrated, one of the best drummers ever!
Love this. Matt, killing it on the drums....
Saw this live and even the video gives me chills again it’s like I go back in time and feel the whole thing over again, like it’s a new song! I miss him so much😞
Led Zep at the Garden Aug 1977 What a show it was, and yes they did play this song!!!
They are all enjoying this so much...I wish they stayed as a supergroup...they were stunning.
Now listening to this I realize holy shit is it not a far distance from a soundgarden song. What a voice.

He can (could, it's hard to say in the past) cover Led Zeppelin as anyone and Matt, spot on. His vocal range was perfect for this.
A band has to have been together a while to tackle this one. Or any other 8 minute Zep song.
Without any doubt!

Stone and Mike playing the dueling lead lines gives it an Iron Maiden vibe that the original/album version never did to me.
Sure Umm the original studio version had 6 layers of guitar tracks that was overlaid on the bass and drums
