Important little detail that Dynasty Ahri has a lot of meaning because it was Ahri's release skin to commemorate her release in Korea. Just a nice touch.

Love to hear that they will be encouraging some kind of grind, part of the reason fighting games are such a perfect match for the live service model imo is because it provides and external reward system alongside the inherent internal reward system in fighting games
Couldn't agree more! I think some sort of progression ouside just a straight-up ranked badge is HUGE. Just grinding ranked can be super daunting to a lot of people not to mention games like SF 6 right now even can feel like if you hit master, you're kinda done. This is great not only in the short term to help get people a little hooked, but also constantly have goals being added you can work at if you so choose is nice.

Still very sad about the region locks for the alpha lab, especially since I have a very good connection to countries that are allowed in. Oh well. Either way, I'm super curious what all the sweats are gonna manage to cook up during alpha lab. This is the first time the game will have been accessible by such a large group of people that aren't the devs continuously, and I'm sure we'll see people pull off some crazy stuff. The confirmation of mastery chromas is another really hype thing, love having extra things to grind for and show off other than just my ranked icon.

I was AFRAID that Katarina would get excluded from 2XKO. Sucks that she won't be part of the starting/base roster, BUT, at least she's still in. For the additional skins, here's what we need: Different intros and outros, different element attributes (i.e. Snow Moon Ahri having ice elements to her special attacks), and new quotes. If Miss Fortune gets in, she has to have the Secret Agent skin.
Indeed! Would have loved to see her make base roster but i'll take this, put the time in and make her perfect Riot! And agreed, I would love to see character intros and unique interactions! I wont if there will be new voicelines, effects, and the whole nine yards like some of the LoL skins. They really go all out for some of the more expensive ones. But I guess that's the other question, waiting to see pricing on here too guess we shall see soon!
Congrats on getting noticed by Riot. I've always thought they were good about pushing creators in their community. Even though you are not massive, they gave you some personal time despite all the big FGC creators jumping into this game.

I don't think animation skins are a bad thing because out of all almost gaming genres, you really feel it in fighting games since you see your character and there moves all the time. I just feel skins will be good and enjoyable for this game.
Personally, I don't think they would want to go so far as changing animations like character special moves! A huge part of high-level fighting games is learning moves, and move properties for pretty much everything in the game. legit drilling exact interactions and counterplay to all of them. Different animations could mess with the muscle memory you would be building, and add a huge level of additional stuff you would have to train to look out for. That being said! I think things like intro animations, Super move cutscenes and win poses could absolutely be changed with skins! That would be pretty cool to see and wouldn't change the balancing of the game.
Damn, the vanguard addition was a punch in the gut. I was genuinly hyped for 2XKO but because of that, I simply don't want to touch it all and that's not because I'm a linux user, I have a windows partition installed, I just don't trust a driver running 24/7 on my PC (for reference, Easy Anti Cheat only runs when the game is open). I thought they would make an exception since anti-cheats in fighting games aren't very common, but nah
@@grimdagoblinmain The drivers being installed is still a security vulnerability. Albeit, it would be harder if it was off, but the problem still remains. I shouldn't have to fuck around with drivers to play a game, other anti-cheats function just fine without having to restart my PC. Plus, judging from the matches I have played before I decided ultimately to abandon Vanguard was the fact that cheaters are still infecting lobbies just fine through traditional methods without relying on kernel level cheats, so the extra security is useless.

I think it's pretty likely they will! Other fighting games like DBFZ and GG Strive have some pretty insane mods, I would like to see what the community would cook up here

I don't think it will surpass LoL but I definitely think it can bring in new people! Ive talked to plenty of people already who dont have much interest in LoL but are big on fighting games - or even got interested in the world by watching Arcane who are hyped for this game!
Not having Katarina done by launch when you started out with that character is insane to me. I understand they started out as a 1v1 game but damn let’s just throw her to the side because the bar is high. Shouldn’t the bar be high for all your characters? 👀👀 I mean what are they gonna say for other fan favorites that have way more complex kits like Akali, Irelia exc.. or are they just gonna not put those characters in at all. 👀👀 It’s very disappointing in my opinion.
It kind of feels like power creep in League in a lot of ways! There are so many old characters that get borderline invalidated over the years by new champs that go absolutely wild, so they have to rework the old ones. This game has been in Dev for like 7+ years so I'm sure there has been numerous champs on top of Kat that have been fully restarted and we just dont know about them. But yea overall im sure even riot is kicking themselves for showing her so long ago but not being able to get her across the finish line for launch.

From the way Shaun described it in that panel this first one will be part of a battlepass. So I imagine you buy like the 10-15 dollar pass and then progress the pass until the end to unlock her type deal. Then additionally can grind some way or another for a special color/ chroma too. that being said it's still going to be just an alpha so very much subject to change.
It is free to play! I only meant Kat won't be base roster, she will be added later - and Jinx should be there at launch. They haven't described exactly how it works yet but did say champs are earnable you don't have to spend money on them. so should still be all good even when Kat is added later!
It's a great game, can confirm now after playing a few times! I know there is a lot of hesitation with Vangaurd but hopefully, they get it sorted as Riot starts pushing it into more and more games. People have been pretty vocal about disliking it so have to imagine Riot is listening
@@BruiserMinion yeah kernel level anticheat is really bad and it doesn't even work. Blizzard tried this shit and even then they still had cheaters. I'm not comfortable giving any games company level 0 access to my computer especially since anything they push to live could potentially brick it if it isn't tested well enough
Custom chromas would be WILD! I feel like a lot of games steer away from it these days though. People who try to make things as nude as they can in games like King of Fighters 13 ruin it for the rest of us, the Devs no longer trust! lol

I don't hate it personally IF done correctly. As much as I didnt love Mortal Kombat 1 I kinda liked the battlepass there and the idea of being able to unlock some costumes and colors. It was a nice way to reward playing outside just having a ranked icon to chase. On the flip side, I feel like most of SF6s battle pass stuff has been super throw away and hardly even worth grinding out so I guess really we'll have to see if Riot put some solid stuff in and how much $$
If they release it for MacOS it will be flooded with scripters in a week, if they won't it still will have cheaters, because Vanguard is not working...
Yea I feel like I have heard about a ton of pushback people have for Vangaurd, but to be honest im pretty ignorant as to fully why it's so disliked. Is the gist of it that people don't think it works as well as it should?
@@BruiserMinion in general people don't like it because they are scared of "chinese spyware" or it just affects performance of their PCs, but also it doesn't work that well as Riot says, you can research the problem with cheats in high elo in LoL for example, the just don't have answers for that. And they didn't release Valorant to other OS then Windows because they can't make Vanguard work there...
@@N5O1 Gotcha, thanks for the breakdown man. Historically I haven't had nearly the bad luck with cheaters on Fighting Games as I have with shooters. But as a long-time Counterstrike player, I will say it's not something you wanna wait to properly implement. If cheating gets to the level that CS GO had - its too late and legit game-killing to me. Fingers crossed it's not an issue here because that would be a massive bummer to say the least.
@@BruiserMinion From my understanding of technical knowledge with is almost kind of zero, Kernel software is very dangerous to the computers in the sense that Kernel runs a level down of your operative system, for instance, Windows runs later after Vanguard. This obviously gives ton of power to the anti-cheat which I will not explain to you bc it will take me hours. This raises up the question, how this will even come to fruition? Well, to get Vanguard approved Riot had to get technical compliance from governments around the World, especially important in Europe who has one of the most strict data security laws over the World. To wrap it up, Vanguard must be legit in order to just get it working taking into account technical compliance, and despite being as powerful, it should be safe in your computer. Last note, if Riot was not affiliated with Tencent, people would not be causing that commotion about it. But yeah.

I do feel like I've seen a lot of people call it Maleware and not liking how much "control" they theoretically could have should things take a turn for the worse. @@foxmx125 it barely prevents cheaters, causes major performance loss even when outside of the game, and has caused computers to break (eg.: disabling keyboard drivers or straight up preventing bootup) vanguard is garbage, its a worse piece of software than that hellish league client

You can keep Vanguard off, and then restart your pc to re-enable it.

Shouldn’t the bar be high for all your characters? 👀👀 I mean what are they gonna say for other fan favorites that have way more complex kits like Akali, Irelia exc.. or are they just gonna not put those characters in at all. 👀👀 It’s very disappointing in my opinion.
It kind of feels like power creep in League in a lot of ways! There are so many old characters that get borderline invalidated over the years by new champs that go absolutely wild, so they have to rework the old ones. This game has been in Dev for like 7+ years so I'm sure there has been numerous champs on top of Kat that have been fully restarted and we just dont know about them. But yea overall im sure even riot is kicking themselves for showing her so long ago but not being able to get her across the finish line for launch.
@@BruiserMinion Yea your right. I just hope the coolest characters besides Katarina like Zed, Viego, Irelia, Fiora,Kayne and exc.. don’t run into the same problem. I hope they have some of those characters locked in for launch roster.
Can you grind for skins?
From the way Shaun described it in that panel this first one will be part of a battlepass. So I imagine you buy like the 10-15 dollar pass and then progress the pass until the end to unlock her type deal. Then additionally can grind some way or another for a special color/ chroma too. that being said it's still going to be just an alpha so very much subject to change.

It is free to play! I only meant Kat won't be base roster, she will be added later - and Jinx should be there at launch. They haven't described exactly how it works yet but did say champs are earnable you don't have to spend money on them. so should still be all good even when Kat is added later!

It's a great game, can confirm now after playing a few times! I know there is a lot of hesitation with Vangaurd but hopefully, they get it sorted as Riot starts pushing it into more and more games. People have been pretty vocal about disliking it so have to imagine Riot is listening
@@BruiserMinion yeah kernel level anticheat is really bad and it doesn't even work. Blizzard tried this shit and even then they still had cheaters. I'm not comfortable giving any games company level 0 access to my computer especially since anything they push to live could potentially brick it if it isn't tested well enough

Custom chromas would be WILD! I feel like a lot of games steer away from it these days though. People who try to make things as nude as they can in games like King of Fighters 13 ruin it for the rest of us, the Devs no longer trust! lol

Do we really need a battle pass? We all know they aren’t worth it in these sort of games.
I don't hate it personally IF done correctly. As much as I didnt love Mortal Kombat 1 I kinda liked the battlepass there and the idea of being able to unlock some costumes and colors. It was a nice way to reward playing outside just having a ranked icon to chase. On the flip side, I feel like most of SF6s battle pass stuff has been super throw away and hardly even worth grinding out so I guess really we'll have to see if Riot put some solid stuff in and how much $$
If they release it for MacOS it will be flooded with scripters in a week, if they won't it still will have cheaters, because Vanguard is not working...
Yea I feel like I have heard about a ton of pushback people have for Vangaurd, but to be honest im pretty ignorant as to fully why it's so disliked. Is the gist of it that people don't think it works as well as it should?
@@BruiserMinion in general people don't like it because they are scared of "chinese spyware" or it just affects performance of their PCs, but also it doesn't work that well as Riot says, you can research the problem with cheats in high elo in LoL for example, the just don't have answers for that. And they didn't release Valorant to other OS then Windows because they can't make Vanguard work there...
@@N5O1 Gotcha, thanks for the breakdown man. Historically I haven't had nearly the bad luck with cheaters on Fighting Games as I have with shooters. But as a long-time Counterstrike player, I will say it's not something you wanna wait to properly implement. If cheating gets to the level that CS GO had - its too late and legit game-killing to me. Fingers crossed it's not an issue here because that would be a massive bummer to say the least.
@@BruiserMinion From my understanding of technical knowledge with is almost kind of zero, Kernel software is very dangerous to the computers in the sense that Kernel runs a level down of your operative system, for instance, Windows runs later after Vanguard. This obviously gives ton of power to the anti-cheat which I will not explain to you bc it will take me hours. This raises up the question, how this will even come to fruition? Well, to get Vanguard approved Riot had to get technical compliance from governments around the World, especially important in Europe who has one of the most strict data security laws over the World. To wrap it up, Vanguard must be legit in order to just get it working taking into account technical compliance, and despite being as powerful, it should be safe in your computer.
Last note, if Riot was not affiliated with Tencent, people would not be causing that commotion about it. But yeah.

I do feel like I've seen a lot of people call it Maleware and not liking how much "control" they theoretically could have should things take a turn for the worse. Almost more worried what it COULD do over what it's actually doing as it stands. Appreciate the insight!

@@foxmx125 it barely prevents cheaters, causes major performance loss even when outside of the game, and has caused computers to break (eg.: disabling keyboard drivers or straight up preventing bootup)
vanguard is garbage, its a worse piece of software than that hellish league client
@@luccabibar7033 damn I'm happy I haven't ran into any of those problems the couple years I've been playing val or my friends. Id imagine these problems are pretty rare.
