    For those that are curious. The car was recently tuned on E85 and made 666whp and 553wtq

    OK so there’s a lot of questions and misconceptions about the high compression + turbo applications so lemme clear it up the best i can. From what I understand high compression on a motor makes it so you can run less boost for more power compared to lower compression. For example, I’m currently building a 2JZ for my 350z and I have stock GTE pistons and rods which come 8.5:1 compression. say it takes me 20psi of boost to make 500hp. With higher compression pistons say a 10:1 compression, it’ll take 10psi of boost to make the same amount of power as a lower compression piston giving me more room to play with more boost for higher power levels. Most drag racers and drifters opt in for high comp pistons to make more power without worrying about turbo abuse or to send the power to the moon. In conclusion, high compression pistons = less boost, more power while low compression pistons = more boost, safer on the motor. hope this helps and if anyone has questions, corrections or something to add lmk below

      Good capture here for sure. If I were going to push way higher on power I would probably start to get more concerned and strictly run race gas or e85. Tuning has gotten better over time and it’s not uncommon to run higher compression and boost with proper supporting mods. I also wanted the car to be responsive down low, out of boost when just cruising around. I am mindful and careful of what boost setting and fuel (pump or is there boostane with it?) I am on, especially on hotter days and driving conditions. If I’ve been sitting in traffic, everything heat soaked, and only on pump gas, I will probably keep it at my lowest boost setting and not hammer on the car. Probably overly cautious, but just things to keep in mind. In the future I will probably upgrade a few small things and get an E85 tune just to have the option.

      Hi comp with 10 psi will destroy your rings in due time . Low comp will last much much longer even with 20 psi

      Also high comp with boost gives better low end torque and will help you come on boost a lot faster

    • @Z1Motorsports23
      @Z1Motorsports23  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      In the past, it was generally thought that forced induction applications should have a lower compression ratio to reduce pre-ignition and prevent engine damage. Current fuel and tuning technology allows much greater control over ignition timing and fuel, making it easier and safer to run boost on high-compression applications. In most cases, we'll recommend using higher compression pistons as it makes the engine more efficient and requires less boost to make the same power. This ultimately means you'll get more response out of the turbo(s) since you can run less boost pressure to get the same desired power.
      Many people will tell you that you need a lower compression ratio, which isn't necessarily wrong. It just depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

      @@VitaminZ77 I’m probably asking a dumb question but I thought hi compression and boost didn’t go well together. Unless 15psi isn’t considered high enough boost. I’d love to hit these numbers with a built stock compression and a supercharger. Is there a haltech controller or just stock ecu on uprev

    • @VitaminZ77
      @VitaminZ77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gemargordon6885 I think that was more the case back before tuning got significantly better. I'm also not crazy hard on the car (i.e. repeated hard pulls in hot weather on pump gas). The car is on Uprev and dialed back a tad from peak dyno numbers. There are also a lot of supporting mods at play and quality parts to keep things in check. I wanted the car to be responsive out of boost as well, hence the 11:1 choice.
